Cassandra is my Sera. Cassandra turned my character straight, maybe it's because I didn't like any of the guy options since neither are romantic and I'm a hopeless romance when it comes to fictional romance. Cassandra is basically a tsundere, flirting with her basically make her disapprove of you, pretending to tell you to stop flirting with her but then actually enjoy being flirted with.

Now if only I could have romance Cullen. :0, I would have play DAI still.

I agree. My Trevelyan also romanced Cassandra, similar reasons.  I have Dorian romance (I dont hate him, just annoyed a bit, then not my favorite, if I can say), and Iron Bull too; he good for my qunari, but I can imagine better romance... for example Cullen or Blackwall.

I see your point. BW does have a thing for angsty romances. DA2 itself was an angst fest, with Sebastian and Isabela being closest to drama free. When I think about it, there is barely any well balanced romance in the DA series (for my taste anyway) they either feel too tame or too angsty. I didn't even liked the Cullen romance. I thought he was overly submissive and awkard. The only scene he ever talks back in a discussion is back at Haven if you recruit the mages or disband the templars. In the romance as a whole, he never shows that kind of backbone in a conversation.

That's not really a romance problem but just the characters in general if your problem is with character of Cullen being submissive. What I mean is more about how the romance proceeds and how romantic it is, something gay romance often lack.

It's basically my biggest gripes with set sexuality, LGBT is usually the extra dressing, and they're never involved in the main plot in significant way. The "leading" LI type is often straight probably due to how it's often the case with all the LIs in most media. They said bisexual characters would reduce the number of overall LI like if they're 6 then it would be 4, I call bull. They would require as much resource like extra dialogue, scenes, writing and things like that, especially for a set protagonist like ME, they don't even have to take into account height difference between the races. If they want to write all bi and reduce the number of LI then fine, make them actually bisexual and have different interaction with males and females instead of having them speak to like a cardboard placement.

Regardless of peoples' opinions of the DA2 LIs, I'm glad that the most plot-critical ones (Anders and Isabela) were LGBT. And yes, it's probably more because all LIs except for Sebastian were queer, but at least this is one instance where the plot-critical NPCs weren't all straight (Alistair, Morrigan, Solas, Cassandra). Bio could have had Sebastian as the vanilla game companion and Fenris as the DLC character easily, since Fenris isn't plot critical.

That is more of an argument people have for an all bi approach since all the critical have to be LGBT, because all the LIs are bi, Sebastian being a DLC character which mean his involvement can't be too critical for those who don't have it. Still, it's a problem with Bioware, not a problem with set sexuality, they just need to stop assuming all the plot important characters to be straight, could even be bi, and doesn't have to be gay, to be honest.

isabela was bisexual regardless of DA2. Anders, I don't know what they'd have done with set sexualities.

Anders was also bi, what do you want to say? Sebastian was important for the storyline but he was  DLC-char* (and straight), Cullen and Solas was straight. I personally not care Sebastian sexuality (however I'm sure there are few people who care him), but Cullen and Solas would be great as bi.

(*Speaking of which: The Legacy was also DLC, but one of the most important part of the story... if not the most important.)

Do you want a romance with a humanoid alien?

Why not a human?

Do you like another skin colors? Green?

People love Liara mainly because she looks like a woman with blue skin.

If she was different, will people romance her?

What type of alien do you want?

Personally I'd like a Drell to be available as a gay romance. But at this point I'll take anything.

It's not based on appearance for me: I mean, I can find a design aesthetically interesting but it does not factor into my decisions about who I'll romance as that is dependent upon whether or not I like their characterization. When I'm roleplaying, said characterization also has to fit well with the character whom I'm roleplaying.

As I didn't find Liara interesting enough to romance based on her characterization, it is very unlikely that I'd have been more interested in her if her appearance had been different.

As what type of alien I'd like, I'd like a drell or turian as romance options because I find their cultures fascinating and I see romances as a way of expanding upon it. A way to do this is by exploring the different customs of courtship

Example: In the romance with Garrus Vakarian in ME2, there is a headbump between him and the character before the screen fades to black. There were also bits of information about turians flirting and such. Basically I thought it showed an amount of interesting bits about how a relationship with an alien could be like. I genuinely thought this was intentional and adorable. In ME3, however, this seems to have ebbed out and the interactions basically became human even when logically I do not think they should. That was something I didn't like because I felt it took the alien aspect out of the relationship.

I'm curious towards the new aliens that'll be in the Andromeda.

His romance wasn't all that romantic, it's a very gay conscious relationship with the no string attached sex, closeted and avoiding telling people that you guys are in a relationship when returning his item, and gay conversion. His relationship just seems pretty angsty and place too much emphasis on his orientation as opposed to just being in a romantic relationship for my liking. You don't see lesbian characters like Sera or Samantha having these angsty problem.

I remember his romance as something extremely... tiring.

He's hiding every emotion behind his snark and behavior like that left me disappointed after every cutscene with him (Yay, new cutscene! Oh... is this supposed to be a romantic response? Really?). It wasn't nice. It felt like he didn't care about my character. There was only one, ONE, thing I liked- his response during Trespasser dlc, when Inquisitor said one last goodbye to him before the final battle. That was both first and the last time when that romance made me quite happy.

And then again romance made me furious, because of how poorly Dorian/Inquisitor romance ended compared to... ugh, Dorian/IB. I felt insulted, really. Well, at least fangirls from tumblr were happy... FOR CHRIST'S SAKE

I'm fine with Qunari, I just don't like the entire joke like aspect of the relationship. His relationship isn't romantic at all, you have to agree to BDSM relationship or he'd break up with you, can't walk after having sex with him, people walk in on you having sex, then treat marriage like a casual thing and absolutely like whatever. I want romantic scenes, I like for Alistair to give my male character flower while picking it and thinking of me, I like for Cullen to throw my male character on table after clearing it. What I like is romance. Why is it so hard for them to give romance to a gay romance?

That was my point when I said "Qunari are kind of weird".

According to Bioware in ME:A the romances will be more "organic", hope it's true.

From this IGN interview

•Relations will be more realistic, they will evolve more organic

•Romances will no longer be choosing the flirty dialogue options, which lead to a romance scene after a while

•This also applies to non-romantic relations with squadmates, they too are more dynamic

Someone wondered if it meant they had perhaps implemented a dislike or like meter like the ones featured in the Dragon Age series but I think it may be that they've tied it to dialogue and decisions. In the case of the former, it'll be about how you act towards the character. In the case of the latter, it is about what you do such as if you choose to do something they hate they'll be unavaliable for romance or friendship.

I'm very interested in how this aspect will play out: it sounds like it has the potential to solve a number of things that I disliked about character interactions between player character and non-player character in the Mass Effect series.

I'd imagine that romances are more DAI esque in terms of hidden approval, but I wonder if there isn't going to be clear flirt/heart options anymore.

That's what I'm inferring from it, but there's really no way to know for certain while things are so vague :I Honestly, i wouldn't hate to see them go. Being ninjamanced 4 times actually made DA:O more fun, from a character perspective anyway.

...Once I got over how annoying it was

Well, sure, why not a human? Since I work under the assumption that there are 2 options, one would be human, while the other would be an alien. We already have 2 human males for gay options the last game, it's just something different, I guess. It's just the whole space exploration and exploring and falling in love with aliens in outerspace, it's kinda like when you watch Star Trek, maybe instead of getting with female aliens, Kirk gets together with male aliens. It's just something you don't often see in fantasy setting.

I'm hoping to see Turian. I find the race really fascinating.

There needs to be more gay options in general.

I don't actually romance male characters, or at least not in Mass Effect. But despite this I even realized the lack of options for a gay male, or viable options for a heterosexual female. My hope is that ME:A will give everyone lots of choice.

I figure that must get really irritating for people who actually wish to do either or.

Also more alien romances in general would be great anyways. Especially if it involves really weird lookin' aliens, or with odd cultures.

She's just hit the all the right notes with what people like in a gay male romance. Let's say that she's a guy, he would be a KISA, annoyed that you break military regulation and flirting with him, deep down, he's a hopeless romance, but he likes to keep up a strong front, he's also a plot relevant and important LI alongside Solas. Yeah, Cassandra is what I want in a gay male romance.
