I'm sorry...
Huh?
I fail to see how the two connect. It's like comparing Mad Max and Lord of the Rings. These are two VERY different styles of RPGs. They have about as much in common as caramel corn and frosted flakes. Sure, they both have sugar, will do a number on your teeth and aren't exactly healthy, but for some they taste good and give you a nice sugar buzz. Still, they are two different things. The Witcher is an RPG, but it isn't like Dragon Age. It has more in common with Shadow of Mordor, when you think about it.
Trying to compare sales is pointless. You want to know a game that I liked? Kingdoms of Amalur. I had an absolute BLAST. I put...oh, around two hundred hours into it. Still go back and play it, yet its a stillborn franchise. Final Fantasy VII? The DAY it came out, I picked it up and played STRAIGHT through, start to finish without dying ONCE...took me almost THREE days and no sleep (I'm an insomniac). I tore through Assassin's Creed 3 over two weekends. Played Chrono Trigger a few weeks ago. Keep trying to do speed runs on Mirrors Edge...and failing miserably, but I keep trying. Had a ball. What to they have in common? Sales? Nope. So what is it?
I had fun. Which is why most of us play. Deep down, the ONLY reason we care which console/platform (Sony, Microsoft, PC) succeeds is because its our favorite...because we WANT to be able to play on that platform again and again. We want our favorite franchises to succeed because we want to play them again and again. We get upset and angry because we have high expectation for those things...not because we are bitter, self absorbed, vindictive, and entitled people (not saying that there aren't those) but because we love these things and want them to be better. Because we believe they CAN be.
So coming here and attacking DA fans with Witcher, or Fallout...really, it helps no one. It detracts from our hobby. It detracts from those games. I personally want Fallout to succeed. It looks great, and my friends say wonderful things about it. Why do I want to lord a franchise I care about over another? Didn't we leave that grade school stuff back on the playground?
I said my piece. Thank you for your time.
