Traveling to an unknown galaxy and finding new and dangerous aliens you need a ship thats is the toughest and strongest a name that demands respect and that will give its crew confidence and the feeling that no matter what happens the ship will see them threw it. And there is only one name that is befitting this ship and that is "SSV Chuck Norris".

Although there is a name already, i'll go a practical way and analyse the name of good old (fem) shep ship: Normandy was and is a province of france with a lot of deep old historical meaning. Therefore names like Provence, Brittany, Burgund(y), Maine or Valois come into my mind (with or without "SSV" because we don't know if the alliance or any other organisation  is still "there" in the upcoming game. And if we are part of any political or military form. Hell, we might be some kind of outlaw or excentric loner, completely broke, building our own spaceship with tiles from different space ship junkyards ).

 

Other names based on any ancient god name (celtic, northern, agyptian etc), elemental names (like "Tempest") or names from the other races in the ME-universe. I am open for everything, that has a nice and cool ring to it (and a logic meaning which fits a spaceship)

US naval frigates are named after naval heroes, so this would be the most likely if they used this kind of naming convention. And if we're piloting a frigate. And, of course, ignoring that the Normandy was named after a battle. But, still, silly as you may have intended that comment, it would seem to be the most realistic name.

 

I don't think 'Tempest' will make it to release. I have a funny feeling the ship will get renamed. And I don't think it will be named Stalingrad, since westerners tend to gloss over the role of the Soviet Union in WWII. And, plus, you know....those damn commies!
