Yup, you're one of the good ones.    :)

I'm not alone, I'm just not one of the quiet ones.   ;)  And thank you.  You're a gentleman as always.  If anyone calls you sexist or gives you a hard time, bring them to me.  I'll chat with them, because despite our particular preference behind our personal labels, we think a lot alike.  You aren't a feminist, or heck, any sort of "ist," at least as far as I'm concerned.  You believe in the principle of "don't be a jerk to others, even if you're the majority or the minority"  I have my own label that I use for myself, but that came after literally 2 years of soul searching.

Heck, I know it's off-topic, but I would like a female LI for straight male PCs, or for bisexual lady players, that wasn't so pro-Chantry.  In particular, I miss Isabela and her devil-may-care attitude so much.  Her looks are nice, but man....that personality and that smirk.  I could have used someone with that sense of humor in the Arbor Wilds.  She's still the most sex-positive character in DA to date.  Loves sex, enjoys her life and doesn't give two flying pigs what anyone thinks of her.  She's my "canon" romance for all of my lesbian Hawkes.

I don't want someone that looks exactly like her ( I don't have just one type of man or woman I find attractive.  I think Cass is hot, as well as Isabela) but I miss having someone around that confident in themselves.  Someone willing to laugh at it all, even when the world is in flames around them.  Sorry for the side note, but I missed her.  Her curves and all of that were great, but I miss that smirk and that sense of humor.   :(

I think you're wrong here, i've seen plenty of threads where the OP was being civil that were immediately flamed or spammed to death with snarky gifs. So I'm almost certain that tone wasn't the only reason people were trolling those kinds of threads. And to be clear, i'm well aware that there were plenty of bait threads were the OP was looking to start a fight, and those did need to be locked.

I know i'm not the only one who has seen people get attacked despite making perfectly benign requests though.

I've made literally 2 threads. I'm not whoever else people think I am. Just me.

I've made literally 2 threads. I'm not whoever else people think I am. Just me.

I apologize.  We had a poster hang out for six months that used to make threads with these requests (like the one in your other OP) constantly.  Unlike you so far, he was aggressive.  He went as far as to harass David Gaider on twitter for "making Cassandra look like a man."  Even started hitting other sites like the PoE forums to complain about Cassandra.  He even started spamming one night, without my censoring, "Cassandra looks like a gd man" over and over again.

I might have been reading a tone into your OP that you didn't intend, so I sincerely apologize for that.  It was my bad for assuming based off of previous experiences, and you didn't deserve it.

I doubt we'll see Desire Demons again, at least in this game.  However, I do hope to see them in future games.  Also, I don't know if you saw, but I thought my elven character that I posted in your other thread looked quite feminine.  The CC in this game can be a pain in the keister, so I'd be very happy to share some tips.

So far, you seem polite, civil and completely confused.  I guess the only thing I can recommend is an avatar.  This "Brenavu" person's alts did not use avatars, and that combined with your low post history made folks (including me) jump to that conclusion.  That isn't the greatest welcome to the forums.  <hugs sincerely>

Here let me start over:

Welcome to the forums and I do sincerely mean that.  :D  There is a lot of lore reasons I listed for no Desire Demons, plus the reasons more technical that was stated in the thread.  It sucks, but frankly, they couldn't make room for them.  Blood magic is hopefully returning in a big way in the next game (the lead designer wants it back,) and desire demons are soon to follow.  Also, as far as your other thread, I meant what I said about giving CC tips.  I love making feminine characters, especially on my mages and rogues.  I have a weakness for adding black eyeliner and red lips to my female characters.  Even Shepard.   :P

If you'd ever like some tips, send me a PM.  As many folks in this thread can tell you, I'm a nice person and I really enjoy getting to know fellow RPG fans.   :)

I remember one, can't remember the title, where the OP was respectful and it was met with "Your options are fine as they are, you had your rebel without a cause already". Like it was a sin to request something different than two very similar romance tropes.

Yeah, and i'm one of the people who's completely fine with the romance options straight guys got this time around. In fact Cassandra is my favourite LI from any Bioware game so far, she's about as perfect a LI as there can be for me, and I STILL don't agree with people shutting down or trying to silence those who weren't happy with their options, or those who didn't find them attractive.

One of the threads I was talking about was called "Limited Romance Options" in the Story, Campaign & Characters section where the OP was asking a genuine question and was immediately set upon by people. It was pretty mild in comparison to some that i've seen, but still uncalled for.

I don't think it's Brevnau, just somebody, who like a hell of a lot of people on here, thinks the hairstyles for females suck. And they do because the game is opted for unisex options, that includes the pyjamas and the nutcracker outfit at Wicked Eyes, Wicked Farts.

I personally suck at character creator. You have to be some kind of pro to make them look decent, so usually I would just edit the hairstyle and the eye colour of a preset. Although they tend to come with facial expressions that look like they just had a whiff of the broodmother's arsehole.

Having said that, it was no big deal for me. I just worked with what I had, but ultimately it could have been better. Hell, as much as I didn't like Kingdoms Of Amalur, they had a good character creator even if there were limitations. They offered little options but the hairstyles were decent and the tattoo/piercing options were cool.

Nice avatar, OP.  :)

@Donkson It took a lot of playing with ME1's character creation to get a Shepard right.  I did that a couple of months back, and that was an experience.  Now that I played with that, DA:I's CC is much easier.  The hair sucks, but at least I have 4 styles I like.  Plus a few mods...

I felt you weren't not brevnau, not-brevnau would reply back with words like objectivity and "I look like a man when I play a female character" things of that nature.

Oh I always went with the default appearance in ME, the cc options were too bland and generic and every time I attempted to Make my own they ended up looking like random npcs.

I wish I could use mods but I'm a console peasant :P

I use the Faces of Gaming site.  It has face codes for all three games for various Shepards, and head morphs for the PC users.

My favorite part is the slider converter.  Say you have a face in ME3 that you'd really like to use for all three games.  You can go to that site and plug in the face code.  It will convert it to ME1 and it looks great.  The nose may be off by one, the nose might be off at the most by one, and I usually bump up the eyes and brow height two-three ticks.  Very slight tweaking with some good looking and imho, unique Shepards.  I kept the same face all three games, without mods.  I'd highly recommend FoG.

Eh, you're not a peasant.  This is why I ask for more options for all platforms.  I'm lucky I can mod, but the console gamers need their love too!

<hugs to my favorite Desire demon>

I only use the CC in Mass Effect when I roll a female Shep. It's hard to get a custom male Shepard to look human, let alone good. The hair/facial hair made what we have in Inquisition look amazing by comparison too. I stick to Sheploo when I play as a guy.

Seriously, check out that site.  That's where I got the looks for the only male Shep I've tried to play.  He looked great.   :)

As far as the hair, well....I slightly disagree.  I liked some of the options in the ME series more.  I really love default FemShep hair from ME3 in particular, and snagged a mod for custom Sheps.  I think it would have looked nice in this game.  Also, the eyebrows don't look a lot like caterpillars on LSD, and I can actually color the hair and eyebrows independently.   :P  The graphics look nicer now, and there is a couple of looks in most races for a black Inquisitor, but otherwise...I'll continue to request a DLC hair pack for everyone, and enjoy my mods in the meantime.

Thanks! I may just use that for a future ME playthrough :D

And I was joking about the peasant thing. I play games on both.. Though the computer is restricted to older games. Still learning the whole mod thing. I managed to install a mod for Dragon Age Origins, it was easy but the downside is it kinda sucked.

I just prefer to play on console though. It means I can lay in bed, relax and play games. :P and you don't have to worry about upgrading.

  Indeed.  Like I had to very recently.  Stupid video card.  Oh well, it saved my husband the trouble of figuring out what to get me for our wedding anniversary.

I got into using mods about 2 years ago.  Origins is a bit of a pain, DA2 is very easy, ME3 is a decent sized pain, and thanks to the hard work from the modders, getting mods going for DA:I is also very easy.  No more beige for me.   :D

Mods for DAI would be orgasmic! I have the game for PS4 and no way will my pc run it. It's battling to run the witcher 2 and that's a few years old O.o

Can't really afford to upgrade but mods would definitely make me enjoy the game a bit more. Not necessarily hairstyles but the gameplay itself.

I've confused myself.

A gif is a poor replacement for creativity. It is like someone writing an insult for you.

1) gifs are frequently hilarious, and 2) Gifs are frequently hilarious.

Plus a picture speaks a thousand words. If I actually said half of what I'm thinking when reading some of these posts, I'd be a mere memory.

I don't know what the OP is talking about. All my Inquisitors are really pretty and feminine.

Case in Point: My current Inquisitor, Kenzi Lavellan

Edit: Sorry for the huge pic guys, but I love to show off my adorable Lavellan.

This happens with Warden threads a lot. I've not made any myself, but I don't have any negative feelings for a new poster who makes a thread wanting the Warden to return, nor do I have a problem with people politely informing said person that Bioware said no to the idea. What I do have a problem with though, are people's... strangely hostile responses. I'd get it if it's one person spamming threads, but most of the time it isn't. To those people, I'd recommend simply ignoring the thread. I do that all the time.

"The wardens story is over, get over it." I remember a comment along those lines when a new poster asked about a wardens return. I don't particularly care either way but the people who posted along those lines were negative little brats that don't know what tact means.

Well this is... civil.

---

I'm relatively happy with my own attempts at combat feminine, considering rubbish hair options and my own lack of proficiency with the CC.

---

If we're griping about thread disruptions what bugs me is the "And. Here. We. Go." and variants that pop up in a thread that is deemed to touch on controversial ground. Not actually engaging with it on any level, but setting the tone.

So, as a comparison, you'd say that no women in the military or police (or a plethora of other uniformed jobs) could ever be feminine?

I really don't know how to answer that. I will try.

Fine, let's agree that definition of "femininity" is subjective. I'm not saying that female characters in Dragon Age are not feminine. However it is observable that there is lack of female characters with "particular purely traditional old fashioned" feminine traits.

Even the most feminine female characters always have "something" like pants, baldness, battle scars....it feels like npc characters just have to have "something" to reduce their "attractiveness" (in traditional meaning).

Probably because those traits revolve around passivity and ornamentation, and Bioware would rather create characters with agency and personality.
