I don't think it's Brevnau, just somebody, who like a hell of a lot of people on here, thinks the hairstyles for females suck. And they do because the game is opted for unisex options, that includes the pyjamas and the nutcracker outfit at Wicked Eyes, Wicked Farts.

I personally suck at character creator. You have to be some kind of pro to make them look decent, so usually I would just edit the hairstyle and the eye colour of a preset. Although they tend to come with facial expressions that look like they just had a whiff of the broodmother's arsehole.

Having said that, it was no big deal for me. I just worked with what I had, but ultimately it could have been better. Hell, as much as I didn't like Kingdoms Of Amalur, they had a good character creator even if there were limitations. They offered little options but the hairstyles were decent and the tattoo/piercing options were cool.

I don't think going unisex was the problem with Bioware, hairstyles and beige pyjamas don't look any better on male characters. I think Bioware took it easy with hair options and casual outfit, just went where fence is low with them. 10 or so shaved hairstyles are prove of that, it's just adding numbers of hairstyles without really adding content. Unisex can be done well and I'd like to see it in upcoming BW games as well (in terms of making hairstyles available on both genders etc.), but in case of hair and pyjamas I don't think enough attention was paid to designing them.

Bioware underestimates how important it is to have a unique character, and to not walk around in a horrible outfit half the game. Which is really odd considering how they make games. But I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Bioware didn't make unisex styles, and I doubt they let us use them all because of any reason other than "We don't have enough styles, quick, merge them to make it seem like we do!"

I'll note that the issue isn't just things being unisex, but also being really ugly

Oh, I definitely agree. I just want to note also, that I think people mean different things when they say "unisex". In my mind, when I hear that, I think "neutral", as in they made styles that didn't look masculine or feminine. But I don't really think that's what they did, and I think a lot of people use it to mean "they let us use all the hairs regardless of gender" which I would call something else.

So, in the first sense, I'm not for the hairs being made in a "unisex" fashion, but I'm all for making them all available to everyone, provided they do it correctly. Correctly would be: Make good styles for males, make good styles for females, then allow use across the board. After. Don't just throw together half the styles you would normally make for each gender and combine them to look like an acceptable number of options.

I don't totally disagree with the concept of what the Op is saying.

I can make characters that look great from one view point, but turn a little, lighting change, back up away from them a little in the game, and Yuck-O!

Now if this has not happened to other people I am sorry for mentioning it. But I think numbers, being added to the settings could help a lot, with being able to re do a character again, if you happen to stumble onto one or rather make one that you are pleased with.

As for people posting faces they have made, they will make sure they get them in the optimal lighting, and optimal setting, and perhaps because they have and umber system, really high resolutions, or maybe they just photo shop them.

I never pay much attention to one pretty picture over another, when people post there characters. As I said lighting, and direction have a lot to do with cute, and homely, as well as resolution.

I think there are some flaw's in the face model's them self's. That make it hard to get a sculped face that looks good from all directions, and in all lighting conditions, shadows on, shadows off, higher resolution, lower resolution what have you.

I personally made much better looking characters in all lights from all angles in DAO, and DA2, but I suppose it is my lack of creativity in DAI.

I have managed to make a tolerable character in DAI, but nothing I would even consider posting ( But I could snap shot them at the optimum angle, and lighting, and yes they would look pretty good ).

And I have Absolutely gorgeous characters in Skyrim.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, just to be totally clear. I only mean to say I could tolerate the unisex hair (and I agree that this isn't so much unisex as mostly just the dude hair used on the female model) if it wasn't actually abominable.

Probably because those traits revolve around passivity and ornamentation, and Bioware would rather create characters with agency and personality.

Uhm...what? So basically traditional feminine traits are now not welcome because they revolve around "passivity and ornamentation"?. Where did that came from? Is Vivienne's personality stronger just because she is bald? Is Yennefer's personality weaker because of her long hairs?

Please note that I didn't say anything about weak/strong personality in my previous posts. I was talking about physical aspects of "traditional" femininity.

Is it bad if I agree with the OP to a certain degree?

I mean sure, I'm pretty cool with the CC as of right now (save for the horrendous hairstyles) and if there's more options then I want them to be unisex, just cause that's fair.

But more options? YES PLIS! Options are great :P
