I miss them too. They were my favourite. They always had interesting parts to play and were vastly different from the other hack and slash monsters that fill the world.

I really hope they bring them back in the next DLC, pleaseeee!

And not that pathetic excuse for a Desire demon in Emprise De Lion, the real versions from DAO and DA2...

.....Brah don't hate on best one of them all

Also it's Choice Spirit! :P

I had an idea for Origins in which a mage Warden would be able to make a deal with Connor's desire demon that would allow her to possess a different vessel at a later point in time. Then there would be a few different targets you could pick from. One off the top of my head would have been Ser Cauthrien. And from that point she would be a playable character who joins your team.

I understand Inquisition couldn't have had this, or it would have been a totally different game. But I think the next game should have this at an early point in the game, especially if we're going to be playing in Tevinter. Have your custom character summon the desire demon into say... any one of five women, for example. Regardless of which one picked it would be the same voice actress. Or maybe for storyline just have one target. But yeah, from that point you'd have a desire demon as a party companion who could switch forms and use different skills relative to each form.

You realize that "pathetic excuse for a Desire Demon" is one of the Forbidden Ones, right?  Just because you didn't find him sexy or whatever didn't make him less of a desire demon.  Choice spirit jokes aside, that's what he was.

I feel the need to point out yet again that Desire Demons were unlikely taken out for some sort of agenda.  If that were truly the case, we would not have seen more nudity in this DA game than before.  There is plenty of breasts and butts everywhere.  You see more with Cass or with a lady Inquisitor than you do with the Desire Demons.

Also, please check the lore.  Desire Demons are known as non-combatants for the most part.  They don't like direct confrontation and prefer to use manipulation to get what they want.  We've seen this in every encounter with them, including with Imshael.

Desire are one of the more intelligent groups of demons, and they are likely well aware what happens to a demon that tries to go through a Rift, or is pulled through one because they strayed too close.  They go mad and become mindless brutes.  Solas backs this up, in one of his conversations in Haven.  My guess is that they took one look at what was happening in southern Thedas and stay far away from that part of the Fade.  Imshael had some excellent lore reasons for being where he was, and had been there since long before the events of the game.

In the next game, I can about promise we're heading up north.  Tevinter, Antiva and Nevarra are among the countries that await us.  Antiva seems like a perfect place for desire demons to be.  That's a hotbed of subtlety and intrigue that would attract a demon like this more than Orlais would have in this game.

Has anyone that has cried SJW stopped to consider any of these lore facts at all?  Plus, Mike Laidlaw flat out stated in an interview that he wants to bring blood magic back and "do it right." (he compared it to the Malkvaians in Vamp: The Masquerade.)  I'm betting that Desire Demons are going to come with that, so I don't understand what's with feminists/LGBT+ community/the latest target getting blamed for this.

I never saw a single thread saying, "Get Rid of All Desire Demons!"  I did see, "Hey, could we get a male version of this?"  That's from some posters that I know are feminists.  I also never ever saw a thread saying, "Get Rid of the Brothels" either.  Give me a good freaking break.  I have no sodding clue where people are getting this from.

Of course, I found out those same communities are to blame for the bad hairstyles, Cass' looks, Josie's looks, the Nutcracker Prince uniform, no brothels, straight women getting extra LIs if they roll the right races, and now this.  Some people are giving those groups (which don't always overlap) far too much credit.   -_-

Anyone else seen "The Whitest Kids You Know?"  I've got a really awful joke from that show running through my mind right now.  If someone knows what I mean, don't link it.  Not worth the trouble.

Anyhow, off to Jurassic World.  You guys have fun, and always:

Anita Sarkeesian and the SJWs wouldn't approve of a desire demon. So sadly we will never see them again.

By this logic, the complaints of Anita Sarkeesian and the SJWs resulted in the most sexual content of any Bioware game ever.  Yeah f*** those guys.  I  don't know why the old succubus design was abandoned for the desire demon or why brothels were removed; I do know there were more naked breasts, bare asses, and highly suggestive acts of sexuality in DAI than in any previous Bioware game.  You'll forgive me if  I find it hard to believe that the decision to exclude the old dd's was based entirely on appeasing one a subset of fans. (Admittedly I haven't played Balder's Gate, but I'd be mighty surprised if there were a lot of explicit sexual images and actions in those games.)

All great reasons for not including them.  I can think of a few more.  Perhaps the game designers wanted to roll new enemy designs and felt like the dd's were redundant in combat.  Maybe they wanted to present a more nuanced portrayal of desire.  I, for one, have a hell of a lot of wants that have nothing to do with sex.  Perhaps they just felt like the succubus design was too cliche or didn't fit their original intention with this entity.  They've completely revamped the darkspawn twice now, and I don't think anyone is clamoring about the sexually suggestive nature of these creatures.

tl:dr - There are plenty of reasons a developer would change or exclude a character design. We don't have like it, but to blame it these changes on another group of players who have view points that don't align with ours is unfair. As a few people have mentioned, more than a few so-called "SJWs" would love to see sexy male and/or female dd's.  Ultimately Bioware is going to decide if that's what they want in future titles.

If it was truly up to the designer and not for any other reason for creative direction then I can accept that. I won't be happy if it ever gets announced (which will never happen I feel) that they chose to be modest with Desire Demons because #thatstoonaughty.

I honestly feel the succubus design wasn't cliche. In fact I would have been wow'ed if they continued with it and showed us what a male succubi-purple demon looked like.

So social demands that you can't have a seductive demon? I would think that desire demons would be sexy, tempting, alluring, etc. As I guy, I wouldn't feel slighted if there was a male version in a speedo and nipple pasties or whatever other skimpy thing he would wear. I could see people complaining if a female inquisitor was forced to wear lingerie in skyhold, because that wouldn't make any sense other than to be eye candy. But look of the desire demons served a purpose.

What!?

Thinking a bit closer toward the original DD. Limited clothing at best, very limited. shows off all the purple skin.

This entire thread now is ruined because someone used the SJW phrase.

I think there was a desire demon statue in the Fade that still had the succubus design, so I doubt they really scrapped that design

Which is crap, because Xebenkeck is a true Desire Demon.

Also, there are several Desire Demon statues in the game. So I don't understand why they can't be enemies too.

I want to see how The Iron Bull would react to a Desire Demon. Would he be afraid of it, or attracted to it. And if attracted, what gender(s) would the Desire Demon be? And would he let one ride him? These are important questions.

Not exactly on topic but further on the Envy Demon

I think it's cool that a demon that "knows you better" has the chance to steal your soul/assume your identity. That they have to worm themself inside the mind to get to know how you would react to certain things and adjust based on that.

Which is all the more reason why I'm sad they took out that scene XD

We'll get nudity, but I bet we never see another broodmother. Bioware seems far to hung up on not offending people... the pity is, if you can't include anything offensive, you can't tell a real story.
