All ME games allowed you to make a character of any race. There were limits, of course... but those applied to white protagonists, too.

Yes!! I really wanted Jacob's hairstyle for Shepard.  :(   Hopefully, this time around we can have Fades.

Though I'm all for more tools. They're my friends. A better CC can only benefit everyone.

How about a badass character who does badass things that is not, repeat, not politically correct.

Or "on the other hand"; how about the ability to paint ones fingernails each in a different color, thereby guaranteeing inclusiveness?

Every single one thread like this with topics such as women or sexuality or race will always have "that one" poster screaming "politically correct". :D

This is not about asking for more minorities or women inclusion but about making better customization features in which many games have already offered. I'm not even sure how that has anything to do with politically correct. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Pretty much.

This is not really a PC issue, it's just the character creator needs a little more tweaking.

Well, since MEA is using frostbite, I get the feeling that facial customization will be a lot better than the trilogy.

Speaking of making asian characters in BW games, I made an elf in DAI that I think comes close (would have given her black hair if it wasn't so blueish and shiny):

Think I just about managed to create a Filipino / Asian looking Shepard in ME (with the code carrying to ME 2), but his face code got corrupted so I never managed to re-create him properly in ME3...bit of a buggar since I really liked the way he looked. Probably for the best since the ME3 faces looks too different from the past two games.

I want the new protagonist to have a silky smooth black man voice. Then I'm gong to make him super pasty white and it's going to be hilarious.

All of my characters in all of my games that I can create have tan/light brown skin. Then again, all of my characters are based off of me to some extent so that might be why.

Anyway, if you want to play a character with a certain skin pigmentation, just change it.

As for hairstyles, I do not understand why male hair was limited. In real life I have a mini-mullet and wanted that for my character. Instead I had to settle on hair that was cut way to short for my taste.

x2.

I created a Russian/Slavic looking Shepard who looked normal in ME1, became handsome in ME2, but then in ME3 he became a really pale Hispanic dude. LOLWUT?

I don't know about black character, but I think you can make Asian character in Mass Effect, at least I think mine looks like one :)

EDIT: Sorry about lack of better quality pic.

Spoiler

How did you do that? My Shepard's usually look like a krogan sh*t-nuked their toilet faces.

An example of the opposite, still kind of hilarious.

I couldn't make a good face in ME's CC if my life depended on it, so I just stuck to the default for the male and female Shep. My Shepard always looked like a wax model of Clint Eastwood that had been sitting next to a space heater for an hour. So I'm hoping for a really good CC in ME:A, or face-scanned default faces for the male and female protagonists.

I am a black male who's parents are Jamaican.  I have no problem with whatever race BioWare decides to make the protagonist.  I've played as default male Shepard in "speed runs" when I am trying to replay to understand a bit more about the lore or just to have fun.  But when I have a "serious" playthrough, I must be able to create myself.  A black male, and I always create a black female resembling my grandmother.

If character creator allows me to still make my character black, I will be happy.  I would like more hairstyles.  I have dreadlocks.  Would be nice to see dreadlocks (that actually look nice) or afros.

Russian protag only plz.

If they allow mixing and matching of the voice sets...

It's all recorded and compressed into different files after all.

I thought one was able to do that just fine throughout the trilogy, personally.

The constraint is voice acting, and that isn't going away anytime soon.

All that said, I'd pay extra for dreadlocks. Good ones.

I think we can all agree that although the character creator in DA:I was a vast improvement over past CC's it can still be improved, everything the DA:I team learned/made/improved upon for DA:I in the FB3 engine will no doubt have been passed about to all other teams using the FB3 engine including the ME:A team who will have the pleasure of building upon what the DA:I team started an i dare say that includes the CC

The CC was the best and most detailed as far as faces go.

But the hair options were awful. There were maybe only two options for each gender that weren't terrible. The choices are particularly bad for female characters, because about half of the options are variations of bald, balding, or shaved.

If the CC is designed to do so, you can have any colour you want.
