Sure it can happen anywhere, but it's institutionalized in the Middle East. I do notice that you brought up the Catholic Church's past but want to minimize the Middle East's present.
There are actually more countries in Africa in which homosexuality is punishable by either death or a strict prison sentence than anywhere else in the world. ![]()
It shouldn't be punished anywhere, but spouting "Dem evil catholics are murderous homophobes! Homosexuals are oppressed in the west!" shows the user's ignorance even more than everything else she's said so far.
Worst part was the whole "Lol, I'm right, you're wrong" insistence I'm seeing with no evidence whatsoever to back up her claims. Of course, asking for evidence is "oppressive" now, so...
Anyway, hopefully this thread can get back on track, or we can focus on more important threads. That'd be cool, too.

That's actually true. There are very few preset black protagonists in video games. The only ones I can think of right now is CJ from GTA San Andreas and Lee from The Walking Dead.
Don't forget Marlow Briggs!

TWD Season 1, loved that game.. Never thought I'd like a point-and-click with quick time events in a game. Lee was an awesome character.

As far as specifically black protags go, one of the playable characters in the first Borderlands is a black man. Can't remember his name, but he's the soldier. He's also in the second game, but things don't go so well for him... (Wish it'd been that obnoxious harpy to have that fate instead of him. But then, I also wish Mordecai's character hadn't been completely raped, either. I wish we had the choice to let Handsome Jack live. And I wish the game hadn't been written by a moron who never played the first game and that his crappy sister hadn't been shoehorned into the game. Though, as Gamlen Amell once said, "If wishes were poppy, we would all be dreaming.") No idea about the other games following the second.

Lee and Clem -- both well written, and in the game portrayed a very good relationship as "father" and "daughter." I hope they make a TWD: Season 3. But how it ended.. Seemed like the writers ran out of steam..

I did some research, this game has 7/10 on Gamespot.
I would never have guessed it by the description on wiki

It's very wacky and silly but it looks like a fine brawler, if that's your type of game.

I don't know precisely, but I gave you double the surveyed number to account for people just hiding it. You're still at < 5%.

Because the OP added it to the complaint
I tried to check my privilege, but it checked me first.
Where can I get some of those chairs?
This isn't directed at you; you just made me think about it. Notice how much we're talking about what the person looks like. For me, it's much more important to have well written characters.
Please stop putting words in my mouth. I'm not dismissing any homophobia in the middle east or anywhere. Like I said, homophobia is a worldwide problem and any person that's homophobic is disgusting. You were talking about homophobia in Middle Eastern countries and saying something about Gay people being murdered there and yes that's horrible and it's so sad but it's happening right here in America too.

that doesn't answer his question...
Wow...I actually answered that already. This is the third or fourth time I've said this but here we go again - homophobia and heteronormotivity has caused a lot of LGBT people to feel ashamed about their sexuality. People are still murdered for being Gay and the LGBT community is oppressed all over the world, so a lot people who are Gay don't identify as that so there's no way to say how many people are Gay or straight.

Telltale has already announced that there would be a third season, but it's still a long ways off. In the meantime they're making DLC with Michonne as the protagonist.

I didn't put words in your mouth. I said you minimized what's happening in the middle east and you just did it again by trying to put it on equal ground with the US. It may happen in rare, isolated cases here, but it's institutionalized over there.

No, you didn't answer the question. While what you claim does happen, that simply means that more people than surveyed are homosexual. It is not any evidence that they account for a large amount of the population. What do you think the % actually is then? Again, even if you double the number, you get less than 5%.

I'm not minimizing what's happening in the Middle East-I'm talking about what's going on in America because I'm from America and I'm Gay and I've experienced homophobia here. I know LGBT people that have been murdered for being who they are so I'm saying that homophobia is a problem here in America, the country that a lot of people like to call "the land of the free", as well.I didn't put words in your mouth. I said you minimized what's happening in the middle east and you just did it again by trying to put it on equal ground with the US. I am not dismissing the homophobia that is going on in the Middle East. You can keep saying I am and attempting to put words in my mouth as much as you want but that's not what I'm saying.
Again, I have no idea what the % of Gay people is since so many people are ashamed to identify or even admit to themselves that they are Gay.
