I hope we don't play as another "Chosen One".  Unfortunately, BioWare seems to love to make the protagonist this larger than life hero that is the only one in existence that can defeat (insert current bad guy).

I'd rather be Han Solo than Luke Skywalker.  A character that gets by on guile, cunning, and a lot of luck, but is otherwise a "regular guy", rather than be a guy destined to be Uber powerful and defeats the big bad guy because of his lineage/destiny.

My point is you don't know if its going to be about saving the universe.

Also, why do you say again? In the Shepard Trilogy we saved the galaxy, not the universe.

heeey that's great.

remember mass effect 2? sure wasn't a whole lot of galaxy saving in that. If only I could say the same about the rest of the trilogy...

Remember when we learned that the Collectors were working for the Reapers and they were making a new Reaper while the others were on their way here? What would've happened if the Collectors had been successful? The harvest would have begun with a Reaper already here and Humans would've been severely weaker. We were still saving the galaxy in ME2.

I think I remember the plot better than you do. 95% of it was about investigation, recruitment and morale building. The other 5% was at the very last mission.

You had to prepare a squad for a suicide mission. You know, the last mission. The one where you destroy the Human-Reaper and therefore save the galaxy (again). Trust me buddy, I know the plot.

Except for the fact that that 95% of it was literally for the sake of the success of the last 5% of it. The only game not directly about saving the galaxy through most of it is ME1. ME1 is about saving humanity through most of it. Everyone hates how ME3 was human centric, but then go and put ME1 on a pedestal.

Also a mission to colonize a new galaxy hardly sounds like saving the universe, and the untold amount of galaxies that lie within it. The whole basis of the game has been set around a more personal story. It was one of the first things we learned about of the game.

There's said to be something like a hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe. Even if ME:A's plot involves saving the Andromeda galaxy (which until we learn more, I'll very much doubt) all you're doing is saving 1/100,000,000,000 of the universe. At most!

Hardly saving the universe when you put it in that perspective, is it?

The universe does not need saving, it can take care of itself, all we can do is save a few alien forms in the universe.
