I'm really excited for Mass Effect: Andromeda for several reasons. The biggest and most obvious reason would be the fact that we'll be exploring an entirely new galaxy. The next reason is that we'll be seeing our favorite races again. Let me explain what I mean by that. From the annoucement trailer and that very short teaser trailer from either last year or the year before that, we know three things for sure: One that humans are still around, two that the N7 Program is still up and running, and three, from that teaser trailer, that there will be, what looks like, some kind of Krogan-like creature. So if Humans and Krogans are still around, then we can therefore presume that the other races from the Milkyway Galaxy are still around.

The title of the game also gives us an obvious clue as to the technological advancement of the races in the Milkyway Galaxy, that being, of cource, intergalactic space travel. And while we may be playing as a Human, I severely doubt that the Humans, the last ones to the party in terms of interstellar space travel, discovered intergalactic space travel before any of the other races. More than likely the Asari, who first discovered interstellar space travel and the Citadel, will have been the ones to have discovered intergalactic space travel. Then after the Asari the other races probably followed after them.

Now here's what I believe will happen in the Andromeda Galaxy. I believe that we can expect a similar situation when the Europeans came across the Americas. The races from the Milkyway Galaxy may try and colonize this new galaxy and use it to their benefit. We may even see some-kind-of second Citadel that the races from the Milkyway Galaxy use as an outpost, from which they send their fleets to explore the Andromeda Galaxy, while also keeping some ships at the outpost to protect their only way back to their home galaxy.

Now all of this sounds pretty awesome just on its own, but this new galaxy, like the Americas at the time of European contact, will most likely not be devoid of life. And probably some of this new life we'll encounter may be intelligent, space-faring life. Intelligent, space-faring life that may not have the best reaction to some strange races from another galaxy just coming in and invading their own galaxy. I believe that in Mass Effect: Andromeda we may be facing some heavy political decisions, decisions that, if not considered wisely, may result in an intergalactic war. I believe that the story behind this new game may be trying to prevent a war between the races of the Milkyway Galaxy and the races of the Andromeda Galaxy. Of Course there may be some people from the Milkyway Galaxy that might want a war so that can get their hands on the new resources in the Andromeda Galaxy.

The technological advancement of these new races in the Andromeda Galaxy is another thing to consider. If the Catalyst only had the Reapers target the Milkway Galaxy for intelligent, spacing-faring life and no other galaxies, then the technological advancement of the races in the Andromeda Galaxy could far exceed the technology of the races from the Milkway Galaxy, even the Asari, regardless of how far along this new game is set. The races of the Andromeda Galaxy probably have had eons to advance themselves without the Reapers to cull their progress. But then the question comes, if these new races are so much more advance why haven't they discovered intergalactic space travel yet? I don't really have an answer to that, other than maybe they didn't see any point in going to other galaxies and were content to stay in their own.

Well that 's all I can think of on what I believe we can expect from Mass Effect: Andromeda, at the moment anyway, if anything else comes to mind I'll be sure to post it. If anyone would like to comment on this post please feel free to do so, I encourage discussion. I also hope that everything that I've said is close to what Bioware plans to do for Mass Effect: Andromeda and if it is then this new game may be the start to a great new Mass Effect trilogy worthy of the previous one and maybe even better!

P.S. One more thing. It would be a great decision on Bioware's part if they set up a website, like they did for Dragon Age: Inquisition, where we could select from all of the major decisions in each of the previous three Mass Effect games, and with any decisions from the DLC for each game included as well.

Okay now that's all I have to say for the moment!

If the entirety of the leak is true, which it probably is at this point, some of your predictions (primarily conflict with Andromeda native races) are spot on.

I don't want a generic enemy though, they need a leader, someone you can identify with as being 'the bad guy' and give us a reason why we're fighting them, other than resources for the Human race. The leak sounds uncomfortably like Colonial Europeans fighting Native Americans (or wtf they want to be called now) for land and resources, not because they where an existential threat like the Reapers were.

A singular "bad guy" is pretty cliche to me. I have always found the most interesting alien conflict stories to be between humans and an unknowable alien force, with which communication is unfeasible or impossible. Their motives, being so completely alien, confound the human race such that conflict is inevitable.

That is a more interesting story to me, rather than a nefarious alien villain leading an alien horde because reasons.

Part of the Reapers mandate for preserving life I suspect was to clear the lane for new life to have a chance of reaching their prime which is next to impossible when you are competing for land and resources with species 50k years your senior. I suspect this mandate extends beyond our galaxy because if you have a hyper-advanced type III-IV civilization (organic or synthetic) from our galaxy spreading like wildfire throughout the entire universe extinguishing the possibility for other life with reckless abandon the reapers don't seem quite so evil. We do.

We are not exploring Andromeda. We are invading it
