Because challenge whores and scrubs.
How can humans stand to fight the same enemy faction and/or map back to back?

Preset to Hydra? I'm gone.
Preset to Rio? I'm gone.
Still preset to the same map/enemy after one game? I'm gone.
Preset to Geth or Cerberus? Depends on my mood, kit and loadout.

If they preset I'll play one game with them. If they leave it there for the next game I move on
Yes, same here.
Funny, I don't mind preset enemies and I generally don't mind preset maps but I get the hell out if both are preset. I blame pugs for this because every time I drop into a pug lobby with both enemy and map preset, it's something f*cking atrocious like Rio/Reapers, FBWGG, Giant/Reapers, Hydra/Geth, you get the picture.
Yes, having both preset is pretty bad (Hint; Incoming new controversial thread in the future. Look for it. Will time travel later later to get there).
Generally having both preset also means the chances of upsetting someone more with both a map and enemy faction they don't approve of.
We mostly also mostly prefer map preset much more over enemy presets. Because reasons of future thread based on true pug story.
They do it:
1) To complete Map Mastery for CP that would take more games to complete if setting it at U/U/G
2) To have an easier match for the kit and load out they are using, which usually means epeen
3) Picking a faction like Geth that doesn't synch kill, because using their Krogan otherwise looks like an idiot, and dies all the time giving them a low score, because to them, it matters
1) These challenge points get done on their own easily enough. No need to torture one self for such a grind. And lot of other better challenges to be done
2) ah, you know my future thread already. You must have time displacement machine too
3) True
Do I mind presets? Technically no.
Am I freaking SICK of all the Preset Glacier/Giant/Dagger? OH MY FREAKING HELL, OTHER MAPS EXIST, PEOPLE!
Yes, these maps are crazy overplayed. Especially the first two which we usually always bail on. Dagger we don't mind too much at this point (Hint, a few more Dagger presets should change this).
When I started to play today, first lobby I ran into was a pre-set Glacier/Reapers. I went with it, then quit. Played a few U/U/G games with other Pugs. 3 hours later I search for a game, the same two players (with clan markings... no comment) and game pre-set to Glacier/Reapers.
I've also run into a guy a few times before, who has over 100k CPs, and the factions is ALWAYS pre-set to Cerberus. Out of curiousity I looked up his HQ page and he had the Cerberus mastery completed 26 times, Collectors 0, Reapers and Geth twice. Had more hours in the game than me. (Over 2000).
Me no understand.
Excellent story. Quite shocking too. Wonder if you remember the N7HQ for rest of us to see.
Sometimes I like having presets. If I'm playing a biotics build, fighting Collectors and Reapers helps me out with shielding. If I'm playing a Salarian or a Paladin, presetting Cerberus and the Geth allows me to use my Energy Drain to full extent.
This seems alright as long as you're not abusing too much faction abuse. That is if your're good enough at the game, otherwise abuse it as much as you want. But melee KroGuard preset to Geth is the exception, way to overdone, and embarrassing.

I happen to actually like playing geth a lot and used to do preset lobbies. also, credit grinding.
Credit farming? But... you know how you play well. You should go right now to listen to "Welcome to the Jungle." Like I am right now.
I'm on my 2nd ps3, and have lost any and all interest in having my system brick or having to reboot every other match, so I always set either map or faction, and usually both. I also hate Geth (and my Geth Mastery has been stuck for a year or two now), and vastly prefer some maps (Glacier, White, Reactor) to others (Rio, Condor) even apart from tendency to cause memory leak.
Yes, this is understandable. But mostly if you're planning on or expecting Collector fighting. How we deal with it is; leave enemy faction to unknown and choice a proper map (ie. never hazard since they always cause extra lag & frame loss) in case of Collectors. Or if I leave it to unknown map, I might select a faction or prepare for worse.
Course I mostly play Gold on PS3 and understand Collector issue is much worse on Platinum. That and I have two PS3. The original model is my baby, the newer slim model is my work horse. Don't care if it get's bricked. In fact, I feel like terminating it with my boot right now.
I think you should do whatever the other three guys playing on the Wii-U want, since they're the only ones on that console. If you make them mad, you'll never have a full team.
We will solo WiiU until fresh pugs arrive.
And I had a great time on the WiiU yesterday before the disconnects started happening.
I'm hungry. What should I have for breakfast?
Canadian Poutine to the face is the cure.
This happened yesterday:
Joined Lobby, Glacier/Reapers was preset
We finished. Host did not change. Ok, i need more husks points, so why not
Host left in wave 11, after host migration I was host
After Game i switched to U/U/G
Game started. We got Glacier/Reapers
This is another good story, Did you stay?
Some people still haven't figured out this game. Give them a break. We were there once.
Anyways what's your psn?
Sinful_Force. Why, will you help me learn this game without presets?

Well, the thing is with pre-set maps, the slick PUGsies usually have an agenda behind it. If it's Rio and Hydra, of course I'm outa there, before anybody can say "blueberry pie". If it's Ghost, that usually means you will see people camping up at the ammo box, just up the hill from the LZ, and will not move an inch, that includes objective waves. If it's Dagger, that means all you'll see the whole game is xXx_1337_Sn1peR_xXx [Incisor] Husk abou twice a wave. If it's a pre-set faction, that usually means they can't fight against anybody else because they're scrubbity scrubs.
You gotta think like me, because PUGz in their natural habitat are a dangerous and cunning species, they will deceive you and lure you into their little PUG world.

^ I usually don't mind camping with pugs on Dagger. One of the very few maps I don't mind camping sometimes. As there's still lots of freedom. Plus if I choose to run down the middle and out in the open, the pugs have my back with them SRs (just not to expect to be revived).

I don't mind the occasional preset. Sometimes being able to lolz through an easy match like giant reaper is nice if the day has been stressful or if the previous match was terrible. If the lobby is public though, I do get annoyed when the preset doesn't change unless the host admits he's doing it for CP reasons or helping a friend transition to the next difficulty. In the first case I roll my eyes but will stay if the group was fun. The second case I'll give a pass to as some map enemy combinations are easier than others and not every new player knows about BSN resources or is given fair opportunity to progress thanks to impatient friends. Once I grow bored I'll just leave.
I'll also admit I tend to be more forgiving of map preset as the random generator seems to like to dump individuals on one particular map over and over while ignoring the rest. Sometimes I'll preset just to ensure I don't get Giant, Reactor Hazard, Dagger (either), or Ghost Hazard.

Glacier's the only map I don't mind playing multiple times in a row. They should have made more small maps. Glacier>White>>>>>>>>>>>>>> every other map

Preset collectors - I'll stay for many games. Collectors are super-fun.
Preset cerberus - **** that BS. Not even staying for a single game (unless very specific circumstances)
Preset reapers - out after one game.
Preset geth - may stay for one more.
If I am having fun, I'll stay despite the host presetting the same scenario multiple times. Collectors are by far the most fun for me and so, I don't mind. Same reasoning applies to maps - if the host presets to white or vancouver or goddess, I will stay for multiple games (unless the host goes nuts and decides to preset cerberus).

If I'm hosting I'll usually preset the map to one of my random favourites.
I don't usually bother presetting the enemy.
Most of my kits are built to take on whatever happens to be around the corner.

I don't mind the pre-sets too much, but preset geth/condor?....
......
I will generally stay around for one match of any faction, but i'd rather the host switch things up or just leave it at unknown/unknown....
