The spirit school of magic that we enjoy is still in DAI. It's just a bit more subtle.

Healing? Where?

It's one of the reasons that I want them to add more skill trees.

Primal: fire, earth, cold and lightning
Creation: healing, enhancements, glyphs and summoning
Spirit: anti-magic, alteration mana, death and telekinesis
Entropy: debilitation, hexes, sleep and draining

Spells with fire, cold, electrical, nature or spirit damage.

For me, all spells could come back, even if reformulated in accordance with the gameplay.

What will happen in the next game of the DA? More spells will be left out?

After DAI where only 1 basic tree wasn't elemental I'm hoping that fire, ice and electricity spells are shoved into one tree and just simply do elemental/arcane damage. Near the end of the tree there can be powerful spells which incinerate, freeze and paralyse respectively but for the most part nope and one tree is all they get.

The four schools were a great idea and despite what I posted above I would love to go back to that but with less redundant, stepping stone spells.

Patchwork

DAI is friend of Final Fantasy focusing in fire, ice and thunder spells.

Bioware, hey love, add more spells and talents in DAI.

The four (or more) schools were great, and had an interesting lore bent.  Specialization was just cooler too.  I feel like the role-playing aspect is mostly just gone in the newer system, and most mages feel very similar except perhaps KE.

Crushing Prison has been in the series since DA:O i have no idea why they would remove the coolest spirit power. I understand they wanted to make the spirit tree a more passive tree but they could have at least had Crushing Prison to give spirit tree something. It couldve even connected to barrier

Again,Lighting cage.

Lightning cage doesn't have the same purpose at all.

Lightning cage doesn't have the same purpose at all.

I'm sorry. Both are crowd controlling spells with damage aspects with the allowance of more damge via combo of abilities. The only difference is that Lighting cage is an aoe spell and the crushing prison spell the pc gets is single target while pride demons in da2 get the aoe version of crushing prison.

How are they different?

Crushing Prison is a hard disable on a single target, while also doing damage over time. Static Cage's disable depends on a target crossing the threshold, and its damage manifests as a bonus to auto-attacks and abilities used inside of it.

I'd sooner compare it to an upgraded Full Draw than Static Cage, but even that would be reaching.
