Will the ship actually stay docked and or landed?

In Mass Effect 1 our ship would dock and land, and we could enter and exit it as much as we wanted without taking off. In Mass Effect 2 and 3, returning to our ship meant leaving all together then re-docking. What if I forget to do something or pick up something? I could just run back outside without taking off and re-landing.

I'd love to be able to have our ship land, and we can then go straight to the cargo bay and enter the Mako to go do whatever, and the ship won't leave until we select a new location on the map. I always disliked the removal of the ship actually being docked and we could just enter and exit as we wished without going through the load screen. In ME3 it was worse because of that docking control woman.

I believe a vessel capable of traveling between galaxies while might be just a tad too big to land anywhere and I wouldn't take any bets on docking either.

This assumes that the ship we use is itself a massive starship that can actually make the trip between galaxies. It could just as well have been a smaller ship held inside a massive vessel akin to a liveship. For sake of having a bit of freedom to jump around to different star systems, the smaller ship would be preferable. It's more conducive to having a small band to serve as your crew and squad.

They could use the camp system in Dragon Age Inquisition. Travel to new planet in ship, use transport shuttle to land on surface. Explore on foot for suitable base camp and radio down mother ship and gain access to Mako, additional supplies and equipment.

The vessel that made the journey is probably the main hub for the explorers. The Tempest is probably a much smaller exploration vessel.

Maybe they'll figure out transporter technology. Beam me up, Joker!

Just install tiny mass relays like the Conduit on a vessel, and then a counterpart relay on the planet below. Boom. Transporter. If the Protheans didn't get wiped out, they probably would have done exactly that. Why fly to the surface when there is a more lazy solution.

There may be hiccups in the beginning.
