The DAI UI and controls feel very clunky and awkward on KBM, I will be very upset and disappointed if the same thing happens with ME:A. Please don't focus on only using a controller when testing and creating this game. Think about us PC players too.
Please don't make the game with just a controller in mind..

Mouse and Keyboard controls have always sucked for Mass Effect. If they don't put controller support in the PC version I won't buy it. I'd rather play it on console with low res textures and crappy lighting then have to put up with that interface for 30+ hours. P.S. Gamepad controls are the original control scheme. A fact lost on the keyboard warriors.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. They can make both work well.
@OP Better get used to it, this will be a console port. At least the ME team can make the port work ok on M&KB, unlike the DAI team.

Amen to that.
On a side note, I have never had any problems with m+kb controls when it comes to ME games, none whatsoever.

...., and pls. make the holster gun button command from the start, this will be one exploration game, so i do not want to run from one place to another like one idiot with the gun in my hand.

ME1 was in terms of controls a pretty good port, but that was made by an actual porting team IIRC. ME2/3 was made in-house by the ME team who seems to not give a care about PC controls, no interface shortcuts, everything tied to the spacebar, etc.

Treat the PC gamers with the respect you treat the Console gamers. Don't just port the same unwieldy rubbish on us, give us separate development.

PC with controller support this time?...

Posté 21 juin 2015 - 10:58
The game is designed with consoles in mind, that's a given. PS4 has sold like Hotcakes. That's where all their audience and money is. Plenty on XB1 and PC too of course, but PS4 is where the real money is.
I do however hope they treat the PC port as if it's a PC game, but I'd be fooling myself if I expected it to end up like that, because it just wont when the game releases on all 3 platforms the same day.

Same here, I also had no issues with the other DA games so I had no idea that they would be so bad in DAI. Better to get in early for ME:A before they stuff it up.

I'll have to disagree with that, while the first Mass Effect game did have some issues with KBM controls, 2 and 3 were pretty much perfect for me controls wise.

Requesting "spacebar to do everything" as a returning feature

Posté 21 juin 2015 - 11:04
As long as the space bar doesn't do every damn thing It should be OK. I mean at heart, it's a shooter which mouse and keyboard have always been better at.
Mouse and KB controls were mostly fine in the other games. Mouse always gives more precision when aiming.

To me it's the details. Mouse scroll wheel not working consistently in text boxes, double-click not working properly for selecting stuff, no hotkeys for dialogue choices, ESC key not functioning as Cancel/Back... stuff like that.

^Exactly. It's a shoddy second rate token interface. I could understand taking away controller support if the PC controls were the original control scheme/UI but it's subpar and not giving us a choice or alternative nowadays is bizarre. The Moonshine controller mods for ME2 & 3 are spectacular by the way.

I've got to admit, I'd forgotten about some of those issues. Got used to it I guess, but yes we should be able to use the KB for selecting speech options. Every command really should be re-mappable.
I don't own a controller, or at least not one that seems to work with modern games, but I believe Witcher 3 can use the mouse/KB as well as a controller all at the same time. So if that could be implemented, that would be awesome. Best of both worlds that way. I might grab the Steam controller and have a go at using that when that is released. Looked quite interesting on the promo video.

Agreed about DAI. But I think MEA will be fine, shooter mechanics always work nice with KB and mouse. Hope they get the UI right though.

I was about to talk smack to all you PC players, but you make a reasonable and fair point OP. You might want to change the topic title to, "Please don't make the game with just a controller in mind", then you might get more responses. Agreed that it would be nice if it was user friendly on both console and PC. This might be the generation I finally decide to go the PC route...

They should only make the game with this device in mind:

Every other form of input is unprecise and not suitable for a real challenge.
