In my opinion, you can't judge someone on the last hour of a 40+ videogame. At least give him the chance to redeem himself with ME:A. If he screws up again and I'm sure he won't, then we can give him the sack

To the OP
I'm actually not that concerned about it clearly being a sequel brought into being for a franchise that didn't need another. Mostly because they aren't trying to squeeze more plot out of the same setting, characters, and plot points as the previous game. One can view it as a new IP and you wouldn't be inaccurate.
So I feel the same way, no real expectations thus far.
Mass Effect is done, this is more or less the Mass Effect label on something new, good or bad.

Those soulless, murderous eyes are thinking, "WHY DID YOU ABANDON MEEEEEEEEEEE!?"
Those soulless eyes are probably curing cancer, solving world hunger, and dividing by zero.
And we'll never know.
I love Mass Effect even when it does stupid stuff. I was 100% on board with ME3 till the Star Kid. And I just know that I'm gonna be pre-ordering whatever tasteless and disgusting collector's edition they want to toss at me, because I didn't learn my lesson with the Inquisitor's Edition.
My expectations are high, unfortunately.

As this is BSN, I will assume this is sarcasm, and answer: NO U

While I have no actual expectations for the game (How could I? We know next to nothing about it, yet.), I still have a few wishes and concerns regarding past mistakes made with the previous games.
I will say that my expectations for a BioWare game have never been lower though.

Given they had an opportunity for an Author Saving Throw (ie the Extended Cut) and simply doubled down, I feel totally justified in judging based on that hour.
So yeah, my expectations are well into the negatives.

Eh, I'm not expecting much from the SP, not enough material to do so anyway. However, I'm cautiously hopeful about the MP. In the meantime it's fun to think about the various ways the colonists could get to Andromeda, been a bit bored at work these days.

I wouldn't say the last hour. Priority: Earth kinda sucked but it was a mundane, lackluster kinda suck. Something people might complain about for a while but not really give it a second thought.
Everything after Anderson dies however... how do you go from apocalypse by giant sentient starships to little kid, circular logic and pick a color? How do you possibly think of that? That's Wiseau levels of crazy. Except nowhere near as entertaining.
Damn, that I was able to write a sentence where Tommy Wiseau is mentioned positively just goes to show you how much of a slight against nature, God and all that is holy all of this really is.
