Let's start this topic early, since it always comes up eventually anyway.

Can we please have a wider variety of casual clothing options in the game? And long hair as part of the character creator? As I say for every game, I would be more than willing to shell out $5 for a DLC that contained nothing but a wide variety of casual clothing options in it. I KNOW I'm not the only one.

The N7 hoodie was the best out of the bunch by far in ME3, id love to see something similar in ME:A

Someone brought up buying Casual outfits, like they're armor sets, I like the idea. I also like the idea of them being quest rewards, because unlike most other quest rewards, things like outfits never become obsolete.

So, yes to both accounts. Having the option to alter appearance in-game would be nice too, then people with long hair could wear it up on missions, and down while exploring if they so choose.

Let me step in before someone brings up my mane;yes, for the whoever knows what time this is, I'm backing long hair options in a Bioware game.

Now, because this is Mass Effect and not Dragon Age, I don't think long hair should be a choice in combat scenarios unless there's some workaround. BUT, I have an idea-

What if you could, with several specific hair styles, choose a "casual" version that your character would use when not in a combat location or as long as a helmet is not in use?

Basically, let me explain-

You're at the CC. You're looking at the options for hair, and you see some buns, a ponytail of some sort, things of that nature. They have a note on them that informs you that should you choose that hairstyle for your character, you will have an additional option for a casual hairstyle to use when not encumbered by a helmet. Choosing it, you're given additional options for when your character lets their hair down(literally). How about it?

Or, lets say the game allows you to enter combat without a helmet(unless the story demands it). You can have a somewhat longer style there, but with a helmet on obviously your character's hair is explained to be tied up in some fashion(in reality, there's no need for it to be textured since the player won't see it).

I'm trying to find ways to fit longer hair into this franchise, because Bioware continues to disappoint me year after year with their games' lack of hair options that are even somewhat close to my own.

I know my hair is insanely long and I don't expect anything quite like it in a game(barring the braided ponytail in DAO which was nice), but damn.

Short hair got old ten years ago. Come on now. Give us a little something more.

To be fair though, I'd rather they not bother with long hair while they continue to have hair be motionless.

Worst thing about a long hair depiction in a video game is it looking like a stone that never flows in the wind.

I'd be fine with having to buy casual clothing in game, or even of having them be quest rewards. I'd also be cool with a crafting system not unlike the one in DA:I that lets you make/customize your own outfits.

I love the idea of being able to chose a casual hairstyle and a combat hairstyle as well. I'd be super into that.

I like the hoodie and my Shep's always on the strip with it, but I actually like the jacket more. It would've been better if it was available for both genders.

I liked the leather dress...in theory. If FemShep had her own animations and didn't just reuse MShep's, I think it would have been pretty great.

So what kinds of casual outfits would people like to see in the game? For either a male or a female PC?

Also, please don't suggest a willingness to pay for DLCs that offer things that can be implemented into a base game. Last thing I want is to have to pay extra for something that could be in the game at launch. And if things like long hair or casual outfits are created post launch, given their size I'd hope to hell they were free add-ons rather than small paid for DLC packs.

Bioware is wholly incapable of offering long hair. I think we just have to accept their hairstyles will be abominable now.

I have long supported having one hair style for combat situations and another for casual situations. I posted on that a while back.

It's totally fair to say that you wouldn't pay for clothing/appearing DLC, but I would. So...you know, I'm going to say it. I don't expect this is something they're going to be able to spend a lot of resources on during development, and I'm okay with that. But If that's the case, then I'd rather have them offer a couple options at launch, if only to allow for the option of changing casual clothing (unlike with DA:I), and then offer DLC including greater options post launch. I wouldn't want to pay for it if it was only a couple outfits each for the Male and Female PC, but if it was a wide variety? I'd pay for that.

I never got the N7 hoodie because of the pre-order screw up that cost me the special edition it came with *sigh* It was the only casual attire I thought looked good in ME3.

I can't see long hair ever happening for some reason. I wouldn't mind if I could get some actual swishy hair instead though. So instead of having that unmoving blob of a ponytail, I could have something that actually moves as it would do IRL. But I don't think we're there yet when it comes to CC protagonists.

Yeah, you're right. Go for it. I've just noticed a willingness from most gaming companies these last few years to offer small items for prices and not offering them for free instead of only charging for the larger sizable DLC packs and I'd REALLY like that to stop. Problem is it only stops if people fight back with their wallets.

Bioware's charged in the past for DLC appearance packs. I'd rather they didn't. If its between charging for them and they'll exist or not charging for them and they'll never exist, I'd of course opt for them charging for the content, but GAH. Its annoying. You have the right to ask for what you want though so keep on keepin on, I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I would be fine for different styles of jackets, dresses, hoodies, and adding in some t-shirts + tank tops (assuming our PCs won't have spaghetti/elf arms <_< )

Good hair in games requires resources that are often used elsewhere, so thats why we don't see it happening. Sucks.

Yes i agree and that the hair doesn't look like plastic.

I loved the N7 hoodie in Mass Effect 3, and it was great wearing something other than armor when prancing around the citadel, but if there is no hub city in ME:A, I don't see us getting much clothing options.  Just the basic stuff that we had in Mass Effect 1 and 2 with little to no options.

I tend to go bald in games that give me the option, because short hair tends to look bad, and long hair even worse.  I'd be all for more facial hair options, but then my beard would clip through my neck and look dumb anyways.  If they can't make hair work, don't bother with it IMO.

It might be nice if you could modify your casual outfit little as well. Like change color and pattern, regular ME armor stuff.

Long hair would only serve to cause horrible clipping issues. Witcher 3 got away with minimal hair clipping (I'm using Ursine armor and Geralts hair actually gets pushed inward due to the tall collar) because Geralt is a set character with a very minimal selection of hair. Bioware games usually have 10 or so hair styles mixed in with dozens of armor and casual wear styles. Ashley could have long hair because she only had 1 style and couple reskin armor types. If long hair was an option many would be whining how Bioware was lazy because of bad clipping. The only way to really avoid it would be to make the hair look plastic, which for however bad hair can get in a game Bioware's hair never looks that bad.

I'd rather we get 10 short to mid length hair styles that are actually unique to each gender. That's one of the character creator sins Inquisition had amongst it's other stellar options.

A supercompuer is required for what you are asking. Moving that many strands of haird is very, very and very compute intensive. One way to cut down that computational requirement it to braid the hair = one strand =  which brings down the number to a manageable number.  However, free flowing hair algorithms are imperfect and can cause weird effects

I really doubt, Bio Montreal can do what Edmonton could not.

Well I'm not asking for thousands and thousands of individual free flowing strands. Lets not be silly.

But I am asking for something way better than what we've seen from them prior.

I kinda hoping for common clothes, like a tanktop or a vest or something. If the clothing is good quality and not some recolor crap, then I'm down. In this day and age, especially with EA, DLC clothing is inevitable.

I would love dreadlocks to be an option.  If I was to cut my locks right now and picked out my hair, I'd have atleast 4 inches for an afro.  I haven't gotten a retwist in quite some time. lol
