Does anyone else dislike the concept of the Asari being monogendered?
Yes. I wouldn't be so put off by it if they didn't all have equal amounts of femininity, though.
Changing them would be against lore.
That hasn't stopped Bioware before. ![]()

Should there be Asari with male body types?
No. The Asari are identified in the lore as monogendered and "an all-female race". Therefore it is not possible for an Asari to have a male body type.
Should we have boob armour?
As an option at least.
Should there be more female turian characters?
Yes.
Add to that new galaxy = new rules. Good excuse for BW to change up a few things if they feel like it, without breaking the lore of the original setting.
I wouldn't actually be surprised if a lot of the original races didn't feature and we had new ones.
Depending on what's changed and as long as it's written very well, I doubt I'd have a problem with it.
Taking advantage of their fresh, new start is a pretty good idea.
No. Depends. Yes.Should there be Asari with male body types?

Human master race
Due to a fatal error in the release process, the game will ship featuring only Hanar characters.
My take on things:
(1) There should be no asari in ME:A.
(2) No
(3) I don't care, but a gender distribution that fits a species' dominant culture is generally desirable.
Yes. I wouldn't be so put off by it if they didn't all have equal amounts of femininity, though.
How about Liara's 'father'?
The matron serving drinks in ME 2&3, with foul language and quite... masculine attitude.
Does anyone else dislike the concept of the Asari being monogendered?
I personally absolutely love it, I wish humans were monogendered too, it fixes so many social problems.
Depends on the definition of monogendered. I read in a diff thread that it meant one gender, but others say it means two genders or something.
Personally I see the Asari as a purely female race. They have boobs, hips, feminine voices and dress like females.
If you are talking about gender as in ''gender and not sex'' then they are genderless. They can be feminine and/or masculine by modern standards and dress however they like.

There should not be asari with male bodies. They are an all female race, so that's pretty much that. Now, if they created a similar species that were sexy blue alien alien men who mostly wore skin-tight outfits, were bisexual and could reproduce with any species, and spent a majority of their youth as space strippers? Sure. I'd be behind that. But let's not change asari.
Depends on what you mean by 'boob armor'. Was Ashley's armor in ME1 'boob armor'? It had molded a breast plate, right? I didn't think it was bad, though. Now, 'boob window armor'? That we don't need. And, while we're at it, can we dismiss the idea of the sexy space catsuit as well?
Yes, I'd like to see female turians. They have the body model now and there's no good reason in the lore for them not to be present. It's not like the salarians or krogan, where they explain the lack of females away.
No, mono means one. One gender. There can't be masculine Asari. At most you can have very butchy Asari. We do need more Asari like Aria and Aethyta though.
No, armor must be... huuu... armory.
Yes.

To be fair about Krogan and Volus, you'd probably just need to give them a more feminine voice. No real need to even have a different 3D mesh.

There has been explanation for Salarians? I wonder how i missed that one ![]()
Wasn't the salarian explanation that, culturally, females play the roles of leaders and politicians and that's why they are almost all on the planet? It also explains why the only female salarian that we see is a diplomat.

No. Asari are monogendered.

Why just female turian? Why not more?
I'd like female krogan and female salarians that aren't just male models covered in robes for ambiguity and laziness on Bioware's part.

Okay, now I'm confused. Umm.. I perceive Asari to be female. Based on their breasts, the outline of their crotches, and their voices. All feminine. As others have stated you can very well have a butchy Asari with masculine traits, as somebody said before, Liara's dad is a good example.

There better be a hot male on male romance option available for meeeee! ![]()
Kaidan set the bar pretty high, lol.

While I think they (Bioware) kind of retreated from this view, I do seem to recall a line from Liara in ME1 about them not being female or male?? Though yeah, it's pretty obvious what sex Bioware was going for there.
No (unless you mean asari who don't fit the feminine traits like Aethyta or Aria, i'm all for it)
I don't care much
Yes. And that applies to other races like Krogan/Drell/Batarians/etc.
Nice thread, OP. ![]()

Actually I think I recall that, in my "getting to know Liara so I can tap that" stage.
I know it's a never ending debate but it just confuses the hell out of me. Suppose it doesn't matter, whether they are genderless or not I think they're great.

Alien or human?

Intresting. I also read in wiki that 9 of 10 Salarians are male which might explain lack of females as well. Must be hard to find wife in that society.. if they do marry that is.
Hopefully new races have females that are visible.. so that Bioware doesn't have to come up with all these explanations. I'm sure they are running out of them already without even explaining why we haven't seen any female Volus, Vorcha or Elcor.
