I know that this is OT, but $1500 for a pair of shoes?!? Damn, Bazora.
I'd be fine with you picking up a pair of work boots for me the next time you are shoe shopping. My preferred style is a little boughey, though. They are $150 a pair! ![]()

I spent more on a pair of black, patent leather, Mary Janes by Chanel!
This all of course on my 18th birthday. I cannot splurge like that anymore. My money is solely reserved for gaming now. ![]()

I paid $125 for my Doc Martens, but those boots will last a very long time with proper polishing and some care. Otherwise, I don't spend more than $30 on shoes. ![]()

The most I payed was 200 for my doc martens that I was talking to Nat about. Otherwise I will complain if I have to pay more than 20
Well, there you go HB. You started this thread and by page 8, it's become a conversation about shoes. It makes me wonder where this is gonna end up.
like my fanciest shoes that I wear to really important stuff cost $70
the normal stuff I wear is more $30
that said, given that I live in the American South, recently I've been barefoot as much as humanly possible
wait wait wait. Just so i can keep up. we've gone from discussing Asari, to high heels (and how dangerous they are?) to how much we spend on shoes?
All that in around one page? Is this right?
ok, continue.. talk about thread derailment.

I love my heels.
kitten heels, and cone heels, and sling back heels.
They're the only kind of shoe that I want to wear with my pencil skirts. And I love wearing my pencil skirts.
I approve of the shoe discussion btw, but also, to address Asari:
I don't disapprove of Asari, and I don't think they should change, it's just that the empathy thing is played as so sexy in the context of the series, that it makes me wish there were male bodied people with something similar. Not necessarily the same, but similar.
Anyway, I hope any Asari companions we get this time around are just different from what we've had before. An Asari with a more "masculine" personality would be great, just for a change.
Does that mean I want someone like Aria for a companion? Yes, maybe it does. ![]()
I know that this is probably a cliche now... but Mad Max: Fury Road really does paint a beautiful picture of mainstream, inclusive feminism as I personally (and many, many others) understand it in 2015. It is an overtly, unapologetically feminist film. And I'd be very surprised if any reasonable person found something in there that was objectionable, given the way it portrays how the absolute best of human nature can triumph over injustice and adversity (honestly, I think some people simply object to the "feminist" label and get grumpy when they find that their actual beliefs align perfectly with it). That's a standard I would hold to.
And since Mad Max is emphatically off-topic, I won't elaborate any further. But discussion on this is easy enough to find.
Also, hot damn was that a good film.
Could you elaborate on the picture the film paints, and how it's feminist, exactly?

ETA: Since we are talking about shoes. I used to spend no more than $50 for boots, but I splurged for this pair of $150 ones and they are the best boots I've ever owned. I wear them pretty much every day (summer included) and they are worth every penny. I was never a believer in spending more for shoes until I bought them. Now I won't go back.
If one was looking for high end shoes on discount, there are ways.
Budget fashionista, both book and website, is really good for shopping smart advice.
There are also some amazing web stores out there, to which I could provide links (Edit: by which I mean, I could provide them in pm). I think quality is very worth paying for, if a person is able.

Shoes are very important. Shoes effect posture and black health, tie outfits together, and keep our feet safe from infection and stray sharp things.
Edit: But back to the discussion.

The difference in quality a good pair of shoes makes is almost indescribable. We always wear shoes. It's a great investment.
you people clearly don't live in the South
shoes are on at an as needed basis

You don't live in the mountains. Even during the summer, shoes are pretty much required. Unless you like getting sunburnt feet. Hot days at 5200 ft burn you faster than sea level. I've lived in both climates. I also didn't go without shoes when I was living in the lower desert near Death Valley. You see one person get bit by a fire ant and you stick with closed-toe shoes. ![]()

fire ants can come at me!
the only issue I've ever had is when the concrete is too hot for no shoes or the dreaded broken glass bottle issues
