As a fan of the Mass Effect series and a Steam user, I was very disappointed to find that Mass Effect 3 is not available for purchase for steam users. After spending several hours recruiting crew members, becoming close with them, and preserving them the best I could in Mass Effect 2 only to find out that it is not possible to move my saves from 2 to 3 is a slap in the face from BioWare. As a fan of most BioWare games and a fan of the Mass Effect series, I believe that I should be able to enjoy my favorite games from any platform. And with Steam's popularity, BioWare could make an enormous amount of money for a game that has already been on the market long enough for its sales to die down. Now I do not know all of the facts, but I do know that BioWare is making a huge mistake by not bringing Mass Effect 3 to Steam. Hopefully people will read this topic and understand that just because some of us do not use certain platforms to play our favorite games, we should not be punished by companies offering only parts of a series. However in the meantime, I will most likely have to go out and buy all three games on a console I do not particularly like in order to find out if Shepard beats the Reapers, or I could just never worry about Mass Effect again.

Or you could get it on Origin, which is where it's sold for PC.
EA hasn't sold a new game on Steam in four years, so it's not really news. Besides, Origin actually has a customer service department.

Yeh well I understand where you are coming from lrsaul but the simple fact is EA is not going to do that that's why I made sure to buy all 3 on Origin because I knew you could get 1 and 2 on steam and the DLC is a pain to get for steam so just sooooo much more easy to just do it on Origin ![]()

I bought ME 2 on Steam and ME 3 using the Bioware website and I had to get Origin opf course. I had no problem importing saves.

I am not one to praise EA but I find Origins a better experience than steam to be honest. i never have steam's problem with automatic updates on origin because when origin updates it DOESN'T reset my preferences, With steam this happens a lot, not all the time but a significant enough for me to know that Steam is going to reset my preferences to default and that means I am going to have deal with an update i didn't want. For many games this isn't an issue but for games that use mods that are, often more times then not, version specific it creates problems.
I had one problem with a game on origin and got help rather quickly and it was competent help. Lets just say my Steam experience with a similar support issue has been less than stellar. In fact i am very much anti-steam because my experiences with Origin and GOG have shown me that steam really is a POS client compared to other digital distribution retailers.
I applaud any publisher that says No to steam as their near monopoly on PC digital distribution has done gamers no service. I am hard on EA for their past policies but in this instance they have shown that they can and do, sometimes, provide services that are pro consumer.

Fun Fact: using your steam code for Mass Effect 2 in Origin will add it to your origin library.
