Hi guys! I know changing characters height won't be possible because animation and I'm fine with that. But could we get small modifications like making character a lil bit slimmer, lil bit chubbier, lil bit more muscled than "basic" one? I remember start of ME3 when you hear comment about Shepard gainging some. Could we this time just choose how we want to look instead of shitstorm about one body? I know it won't be easy so differences should be small yet giving us this possiblity might let a lot of people get protag they always wanted. And don't tell me it's so hard - on nexus you usally have tons of mods made by normal people with thing we thought are so hard to make - aka long hairstyles and even body shapes. BioWare is all about choices so let us make as many choices as we can.

I found that phrase from Anderson a very bad joke, since FemShep was never so thin in any ME game as in ME3 -sickly thin for a warrior-
I would love the chance to decide the body type of my characters. I would love having a muscular female soldier or a thin male biotic.
Male Shep was too muscular, almost ridicolous so, and FemShep was on the anorexic side with sinthetic boobs. I really didn't like the ME3 body type. I always put FemShep in the hoodie and MaleShep with the skin jacket, those two clothes masked a little their body type and were a lifesaver to not cringe during the entire game.

It's obviously not hard, but those people who make mods don't make the rest of the game too and certainly don't have a time limit. Body types have never been a question of whether it could technically be done, but rather, if the developers thought the effort was worth it. The answer is no. They said as much in DA:I pre-release, and it's the same for ME:A.

I'd like to modify the bodies. Always enjoy playing a fatter character when I can, since I'm quite tired of fit protagonists.

I don't think making character silhouette parametric is way beyond programmers capability. In many games we can modify all parameters and there is no problem with animation(ah yes) some games give basic animation (eg walking) optional too.
So Yes make excessive character editor + give us crew mates editor too( when new crew mate arrive to the ship allow us modify his/her's appearance)
And one thing more. As facial bone structure should be fixed after game starts we should be able to go to the room and change hair style cut beard or change make-up.....an make tatooo if someone likes that.
Do not leave all nice improvements to the modders.
I just want game to be epic

If no body sliders are available then maybe a preset body build choosing between James Vega body type and the normal builds that Shepard and all npcs had.

I hope so. It always annoyed me that no matter what your class, m!Shep is a massive beefcake and f!Shep looks like a strong wind could knock her over. This was particularly visible in ME3. I was really annoyed that my adept m!Shep - who is supposed to chew through calories like crazy according to the lore - is really built despite the fact that keeping him (and Kaidan!) fed so they could keep that muscle mass would bankrupt the Alliance, whereas my soldier f!Shep's noodle arms looked like she wouldn't be able to hold onto a pistol, never mind a shotgun or a rifle.
I know, I know - identical body builds, Cerberus upgrades, suspension of disbelief etc... but still. Really annoying.

Yeah, definitely want some options as to body shape - if a full set of sliders aren't feasible, then at least 3-4 pre-set options to chose from (TOR did this IIRC). And if even that isn't doable, can we have the single body shape as a nice balanced one instead of almost anorexically thin for women and ridiculously overmuscled for men?

But the female PC really needs a more athletic build, especially in the arms. The characters, particularly the male PC, always look like gym rats.

Yeah, i'd prefer 4 types to choose instead of sliders too so armors would always look good. c:

ofc you may hoop and play default N7 operative but many ppl enjoy adjusting their toon..... some even try to enter game engine just to fix their character. So it would be niiice that devs give us some extra (about 200 hehe) sliders so we don't have to risk ruining the game and have more fun...

I am fine with default height and body size.
A single unchangeable default would be tolerable if they actually made the default look like a vaguely normal person instead of a 'roid bunny for men and an anorexic for women.
edit: And while they're at it, do the same to the animations, most men don't walk like a gorilla and most women (when they get their own animations) don't sway like they're on a catwalk. Why can't BW just make out characters look and move like, you know, normal people? Why do they have to be so exaggerated?

I almost always play a custom character, I have to be able to create a character that resembles myself. However, body type/height is something I could care less about. But, I would not want me not caring to affect this possibility for others to adjust the body type and height.

Agreed.
My Shepards were way too buff by ME3, even the engineers, sentinels, and infiltrators. I would like to have a body customization option where I can select their build.

But BioWare hasn't given us body type options in any game since NWN (released 2002).

Body sliders would be perfect, or having selectable body-types like in Dragon's Dogma, but sadly,BioWare seems fine with just getting by with the bare minimum. Whether it be for body types, hair styles, reusing-decade old animations, floating weapons or non-existent hair/clothing physics.

floating weapons
I think that's justified in ME due to magnetic "holsters."

If only body shapes/ movement animations were not so disappointing I could agree on let them make 1 standard body shape. And still we have lore soldier should have different body structure than biotic. But you know.... ppl have different taste and there is no ultimate beauty type ... we are all different. so let us give some adjustment.
what I have seen ME 1 fShep run with some grace in ME3 she fun like monkey. Liara ME1 OK in ME3 lol was she eating too much? Ash in ME1 at equal level of design - ME3 beauty pageant completely out of average model ratio. Miranda thought to be "perfect human female" but she was not. List of faults is loong. Ad that's why ppl tried to mod the game

I'm really for a CC that lets you choose or adjust bodies. To makes things clear, I couldn't care less about about a body slider if Bioware could make the protagonists look like actual fighters who are in reasonable shape. BAM! That would completely solve the entire problem. But....
The female bodies always have stick figure physiques with extremities so fragile you'd have to be afraid they snap off in heavy wind or break when the guns recoil.
The males always look like bodybuilders in their completely unsustainable shape they have a day or two before a competition with dangerously low body fat percentages.
I don't care if body augmentation or whatever space magic makes all equally strong and healthy no matter looks, but aesthetically its just so laughable it just kills all immersion every single time. Heck, if they love extremes so much they should add at least one more body type, an extremely obese one. That one would be just as laughable in the role of a fighter.

I can't look for a video right now, but the EVE Online character creator really is the best I've ever seen. You can change pretty much everything about the face and body type. Granted, you're character mostly just stands there while in-game so there's very little to animate, but I'd love to see a CC like that in a Bioware game. Really unlikely to happen though.

I wouldn't be against a body/height option in the game, but honestly my big concern with something like that is it would become more like Dragon Age: Inquisition with less interaction between characters and when they have a conversation any interaction with characters or the world would be no longer there so we would be seeing two stick figures standing completely still.
To me that is the biggest hurdle to overcome is when you could have a conversation with a 7 foot tall protagonist or a 5 foot t all one or anything in between it means they would have to create systems to make sure that in a cinematic moment they character will be touching and not apart or they aren't putting their arm through something they shouldn't. Combine that with all the people that already complain about clipping and I am not sure if it is something that would be realistic to accomplish.

Yeah, I, and I suspect most of us, can see the issues with giving us complete freedom, especially when it comes to height, but allowing for some customisation of build, in particular, really should be doable.

This is one of those features that sounds good in theory, but probably isn't in practice. To accommodate for the protagonist having varying shapes and sizes a lot more work has to go into making sure that all the armor and weapons look right and that there aren't clipping issues. A lot more work would also have to go into the cinematics & cutscenes to account for the protagonist varying in size. The alternative might be a romance scene for example, where the protagonist clipping through the LI.
Considering the resource drain, I'm not sure the feature can be justified particularly since the feature it adds is purely cosmetic. And would cuts need to happen elsewhere to make room for it?
There is also the issue that if your character is military again like Shepard, no version of him or her should be obese. Fat people can't be soldiers or Marines.
