He doesn't overact so much as he has a nervous breakdown on camera. And I can't think of a single movie where he DOESN'T do it. Maybe Knowing, but that movie is so slow and boring that nobody has time to work up any kind of emotions.

Granted that may be more the fault of the concept artist than the team, but they're still having it front their announcement, so...

 

...and we saw what they did to Ash. Even if you change her combat kit: during cutscenes and on the ship, skin-tight armour, hair hanging limp over her shoulders, because they wanted, and I quote, "a little more sex appeal".

 

 

yeeeaaahhh, you know, I think this one is more about the symmetry of the characters and what that says. Look at the space in between them. Her elbow in the crook of his back; down to the way his calf flows into the bend of her knee. It's the way the space in between clicks together that is telling you these two are one. Two sides to the same coin. I think visually they were trying to show the connection between the two.

I'm in favor of options so long as they're for both genders. If a player prefers to wear Jacob/Miranda inspired spandex suits, bulky armor that Shep wore in ME2/3 or neutral it's their prerogative. I actually liked ME1's armor sets, they covered enough while giving characters body definition, and you could opt for bulkier armor if you so choose. Have crafting and armor options for all types.

Serious question:  What was the general reaction to FemShep's armor, like the one in this picture.  I know that it's fan art, but it's based on actual Bioware promotional images.  FemShep in the original images was in a gender neutral stance that was very similar to mShep and her armor is (a) realistic; (b.) comparable to mShep's; (c.) not overly sexualized; and (d) still feminine (as in, no one will look at it and not realize that she's a lady). 

 

I actually think that the ME3 FemShep images were right on track.  Were there concerns about them when they first came out?  I can't remember.  I know it's "boob armor", but outside of that.

 

I'm saying that because I look at those pics and compare them to the new promotional pic with the contorted 'sexy' body shape for the woman and I think there's a clear difference.

Male Shepard seems to have some kind of pectoral plate going as well, so fair's fair? I don't remember general reactions either, but I'd say it's consistent with the setting's rules and looks like it does what it's supposed to do in that setting.

If there was a negative reaction to it, I don't remember it. I'm a proponent of sensible armor and I thought it looked terrific.

 

It certainly falls under the broad umbrella of boob armor, but I think that the armor in that image, and in fact pretty much every armor design available to femShep in ME2 and ME3 looked goddamn phenomenal.
