It's true that Mass Effect is largely just a series of linear missions that you're allowed to do in whatever order you want, although I think in general people act like being linear is far worse than it actually is these days. There are strengths in having a linear game, especially if you're trying to tell a story like BioWare is.

Mass Effect 3 is also one of the few games I've seen that managed to blend solid gunplay with ability use very well, and with more ability use than just "here's one ability you can use every once in a while".

The problem isn't with linearity per say, but with faux-choices that amount to diddly squat. That's why I argue that it's better to make a proper linear game vs one with "epic galaxy changing choices!!!" that amount to diddly squat and save importing that complicates consistency/continuity, and for what? Some e-mails, brief cameos and some throwaway dialogue talking about how the same thing happened regardless of what you did or didn't do?

Another alternative would be removal of "epic galaxy changing choices!" and having smaller scale deus-ex style "how do you handle things?" choices instead, but given the ME's team's track record of flavoring fluff over anything that has an impact on the gameplay, I wouldn't count on them even doing that.

Okay yes I wasn't very courteous and quite rude it's just sad that to improve their gaming experience some people will say too cut out content that other people love. And I've seen it so much that it gets me bitter when ever I see someone saying to axe something to improve their own experience.

Would it blow your mind to hear that I played both renegade and femshep?

Seeing it will be a M 18+ rated game, expect to see minimal skin if past games are anything to go by.

However, I do not object to eyecandy in R&R areas. Perhaps bars will also have private "hen rooms" for equality purposes. And, while I'm at it, give the camera a wider angle movement, that way everyone can enjoy looking at their favorite person.

You know, if the writers and Directors agree to have non military squad members as truly individual characters with certain personality quirks, a high tech civilization can probably come up with decent personal armours that shows skin but also have very tough sheilds. It is, after all, a sci-fi game.

Perhaps wearing such armour may be a distraction to some enemy types? LOL. Alas, it won't happen, so no need to worry in this regard.

I am all for personalizing our PC's body shape.... that way no one gets offended.

That's not really what I'd call 'sexualized'.

Now, something like THIS...

(direct your attention to the guy with the red hair)

Spoiler

...is a man being sexualized.

Seriously, my only problem with sexualized characters in Mass Effect is that they don't really have male characters that are objectified or 'overly sexualized' the way a lot of the female characters are. They just go, "look, he's buff! That oughtta make up for making straight women stare at Miranda's ass, Samara's boobs, Jack's nude upper half, and asari strippers for the majority of the game!".

All I want is equality. Make a guy pose unnaturally just for the sake of being hot, or put him some sexy casual wear for his off time, and I'm perfectly fine with whatever unreasonable stance and revealing ensemble you have in mind for the women. (and make sure to really zoom in during dialogue, too. Gotta have that butt shot, right?)

To be fair, while it's not quite as blatant as with Miranda, the camera does linger on Jacob's arse quite a bit in ME2. Now, not being a connoisseur of male posteriors, I don't really know whether this is a pleasurable view for those who are interested in them, but it is there.

ME has somewhat mature tone so fanservice in terms of ridiculous sexy armor doesn't quite fit. Some revealing costumes in ME1-3 look quite akward next to full-armored Shepard as well.

Eh, WELLLL... While it's here again, I'll say this: it's not so bad if it's part of their character. It's when it's just kind of THERE that it's a problem or doesn't really fit with their character. IE, if Aveline was wearing Isabella's outfit, there's no way you can get me to believe that she's the captain of the guards with such an outfit.

FYI, Jacob and Miranda are both sexualized like crazy in ME2. When you first get on the Normandy, the game gives you a handful of both their butts with Sheperd in the middle.

as a woman, i dont mind that stuff. BUT I dont like when its used in a none sensable way! plus give us the option, if people want to see miranda in a catsuit all day everyday, thats okay, but for me, i dont want that when it dont make sense. in non-combat area's thats okay, but in combat, please no

It will have "that stuff" in because it sells.  It will be either direct or indirect = so that only the subconscious will pick it up.

Personally I like the blunt short in my face variety of that stuff and not the whole game of the subconscious variety which I find way more disturbing and annoying.

I know....let's keep bumping this topic, and then cry big, sobby tears about how this topic won't die!!!!!

Makes perfect sense.

BTW, I respond to topics like this because socio-political discussions in relation to the arts interest me.  If your only interest in videogames is how fast you can push a bunch of buttons, great, but not all of us share your interest in only the most superficial aspects of the medium.
