Yup, the same community that had many posters in an uproar because the female concept art for MEA was in a pose that was "too sexy". Yeah like I said, prudish.

I saw none having problem about "sexiness" of pose. The problem was that her stance doesn't look like she's ready for battle. It looks more like she's ballerina and not an soldier. Her pose has nothing to do with female character I want to play, none of my Shepards would take that stance.

I love when people stop using the word realism and switch to "internal consistency," like it makes their argument any less fallacious.

Higher internal consistency = higher degree of perceived realism. Especially when it comes to enduring the narrative's surroundings.

I don't see alternating between the two to be a big deal.

They probably did it just to confirm that, yes, there will be male and female PCs.

Wasn't that a hot topic around E3 due to Fallout and the rumors of its male-only protagonist?

Well...

MEA_small.png

Look at her pose and then tell me that they weren't going for sexy. You usually only see contortions like that on comic book covers. A more natural stance would look much better.

Oh yes.

The uproar.

Oh noes, someone didn't love the promotion poster.

How do you know she's a soldier?  :D

And y'know, my Shepard wouldn't be caught dead standing like that guy either, but you never saw me complaining. I prefer to focus on the armor, which actually looks pretty cool.

Forget the pose. Every time I see that concept art, the armor doesn't get any less fugly. Hope they scrap it.

What about my Shepard on a poster on all fours? I mean, she is taking cover and rocks in area are small, she needs to. Very soldier-y.
Thing is whatever they decide will fit some Shepards and exclude some Shepards. It is impossible to represent all female characters with one clothing, one pose or one face. That's why I insist, give us choices, PERIOD.

126 pages in, nope, don't remember.

Imo that armor looks straight out of Halo. All rigid and blocky. I'm hoping they go with a smoother, more streamlined aesthetic, like ME1.

Hmm, I didn't like armor in ME1, though I suspect the color palette had a lot to do with that.

What? You don't like Miranda's skin tight suit? It's nice to have a bit of eye candy during her scenes :D

And plus, what do you mean about feminism stuff? I mean both male and female ones have skin tight suits, like Jacob, how come you don't like it? Some of them are still great characters.

I'm sure that people would have been able to tell without the pose and I doubt anyone was afraid Mass Effect would go with male only protagonist, it's Bioware after all..

Well Mass Effect, I'm assuming. I doubt she's professional ballerina at least. I'm complaining cause I'm bit worried that pose will indicate how my character will be in-game in terms of animations.

I don't remember any Shepard being ballerina though, I'm quite sure they were all soldiers.

I very much hope we don't play a soldier this time around. The trilogy did more than enough glorifying the military for two or three lifetimes. I really don't want to deal with that again.

In what kind of world a soldier can't be a ballerina? Given how many girls practiced ballet I'm guessing at least 10% of real life female soldiers were ballerinas at some point in their lives. But thats not even an issue, she could have started after becoming a soldier. Or just be posing to lure an attractive male. It doesn't matter. It should be our options and our choices, and posters should be ignored since as I said, it is impossible to fit the subjective fantasy of millions of players into one image, some people will love, some people will hate. no matter what they do.

Edit: At animations, considering how 3D is handled by engines, there should be 3 animations for the player to select, female (stereotypical), male (stereotypical), neutral (realistic) - one extra type of animation would not be that hard to do.

And they might add figure types. We have only one race so why not. In one MMORPG you can choose your walking animations. They have like 5 types to choose and it's awesome.

:) we spoiled brats (me included) and our first world problems. :P I kind of just hope it will be a reasonable game in how to implement things and hope for a middle groud approach between attracting players but also believability

I guess that is possible. Why is she trying to do pirouette in her armor though with gun in her hand?

I like having choices, but I think ads are supposed to make you want to buy the game and hyped about the game, not opposite.

Why is the man showing his ass?

Seriously, it's not a big deal. It's just a concept art, which are often over exaggerated... I highly doubt we'll see this pose in the game.

You're worrying about nothing.

His ass isn't really highlighted though, it's basically man in scifi-armor with gun in his hands posing like he's ready to shoot and we see him from back.

It makes me nervous, cause DAI's female animations sucked and if female animations in ME:A are anywhere near that pose I rather not play female PC at all.

I still think the ME1 armours looked the coolest. They had some kind of retro vibe, I really liked them.

As far as sexualized characters go, to be frank I don't mind a bit of sexualization in SF, just as long as it's not just female characters that get this treatment. Bulky armours never really appealed to me anyway.

That said, I wouldn't mind a few fugly characters either, just as long as both the sexy and the fugly ones have cool and interesting personalities. No one likes a smoking hot character that is really boring.

The male one kind of reminds me of the Defender one, and the female like those cerberus phantom armors.

I think it's just a concept art though.

I hope we at least get these armors tbh:

But this pose is stupid. Male part of human specie can stand straight while females obviously can't. I bet that was made by one of these "famous" mangakas that don't know how to make human characters because they don't go outside (hope you can find articles about this, interesting). Does she want to hit his butt with her?

I like armors. Look professional. If I can add bigger pads to look more badass I'm in heaven.

Sex-sells!

No logic there just pure sex-sell to attract more consumers. That is pretty much like must when game advertises. As you know by both society's and media's standards they consider most gamers to be nerds that haven't been outside of their mother's basement for ten years, that are jacking off to porn 24/7 and don't know how woman looks like.....so when they make games they always advertise sex-sells lot and lots of sex-sells to bring up more attention. I hate it and I find it annoying but every gaming industry does it and always did.Just look at new MGS5 upcoming game with it's biggest 'WTF!!!???' sex-sell:

Spoiler
