Don't compare stupid pose to naked-into-fight-stupidity-lvl. They almost did it all good. D:

Wasn't comparing just giving another example of unnecessary sex-sell in another game in which where that kind of design doesn't belong and that girl Quiet belongs more in DOA franchise rather then MGS.

Same like that female with her pose from ME:A wallpaper looks more like she belongs on nexus or thumblr rather then ME franchise.

Quiet is whole another lvl. Let's make almost naked female character and quickly figure out how to justify that so we can have free boobs and butt shots. MEA concept art is unnecesary butt throw only. Perhaps if I will spam this on forum enough BioWare-senpai will notice and game will be purrfect.

We can hope.

Lol @ people who complain at complainers. What are you gonna do here on this forum, especially for a game that's not out yet? Praise them for everything they might do right? No, you're going to create threads about stuff you didn't like before or what you'd like to see different. Also, the name of the thread is "overly sexualized characters", not "make the game prudishly unsexy".

Why are people less inclined to mention Samara, it's always Miranda? It's about perspective that the game forces on you, which in my opinion is very childish & crude. Am I supposed to laugh at those scenes, are they supposed to be trashy? If so, then commit to it wholeheartedly and I'll accept it & laugh with it.

But I don't think they were going for that. I mean, I don't understand. Do some people really like it in a titillating way when they focus to Miranda's butt during her sad distressed sister story? Is that somehow really sexy to someone? Wouldn't that fit better when you're flirting with her or when you're teasing each other?

I guess people are more inclined to talk about this topic because the series doesn't really have so many problems with overly sexualized characters imo, so these couple of cases stick out like a sore thumb.

It was really only a problem with Mass Effect 2. There were a couple instances in the the first and third games, but not to the extent of the second.

People like to talk about because its a controversial topic, and because there is nothing really concrete to discuss about Andromeda yet. The only thing we've been told so far is where it is set.

I did say there were a couple instances of sexualization in the first and third games, and Ashley's default outfit in ME3 is what I had in mind. Neither ME1 or ME3 were as bad as ME2 however. Ashley's default uniform in ME3 wasn't as bad as the camera placement with Miranda in ME2, or Samara being unzipped to her navel.

For me Quiet is ultra macho male manly.  She is not even wearing a cute skirt, long earrings, or a complex hairstyle. Also no gliterry make up and no nail art. I can't differentiate her from Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo. This is how subjectivety works ^_^

She is like Jill Valentine who dropped her old catsuit because she got 100% Miley Cyrus fever and is now wearing just her underwear and stockings, which will make million of MGS players ask themselves are they playing MGS or some hentai game. I don't mind....but I demand Big Boss to be wearing some of these -coughs- practical combat suits too because he will be rocking it biatchez!!!

Anyway sorry seems I'm on wrong forum, I thought I was on EA/BW forum in MEA section....never realized this was Konami's forum in here. Sorry my mistake I will try to drink less in future so I don't get myself in wrong forums anymore.

Who would guess? Same works for females seeing characters like Quiet. It's funny when you see one. After thousands you sit in the corner and cry with your keyboard.

lol! Damn Snake looks good in anything!

But anyway, the argument people try to make when they create pics like that is rather silly. Sexual exploitation for men is different than it is for women.  If Kojima wanted Snake to be a sex symbol he would be portrayed...pretty much how he is now.  And let's be honest, if that outfit was available for Snake, most gamers would put him in it for shits and giggles.  And the rest would put him in it to see that a$$ scooting across the ground. *cough*

This, I don't know why people find it so hard to understand that men aren't sexualised the same way women are. The qualities that women find attractive in men generally aren't the same as qualities that men find attractive in women, so of course they are going to be sexualised in different ways. Of course there's some crossover, and some qualities are universally considered to be attractive, no matter the sex, but men and women aren't the same, what we are attracted to Isn't the same, and what makes us attractive to the opposite sex isn't the same.

So people are saying sexualised characters are unrealistic. As far as I know female marines are also unrealistic but nobody complains about that!

If people think that Quiet is out of place for Metal Gear Solid, then they obviously haven't taken a closer look at the 'assets' on pretty much any other female character in the series.

Not as bad, true.  But Ashley and Samara don't exactly set the bar all that high.

Ashley's ME3 outfit is a sad joke compared to the uniforms of every single Alliance officer in the game.  Male and female both.

Entirely subjective. What you find hot, others won't. Some men don't find women like Quiet attractive, more as her being ridiculous looking. Some women will find Snake in Quiet's clothes sexy.

It's all subjective. It can be the same to some and different to others.

Actually, I honestly couldn't care less xD

If I go to buy underwear I get to see a whole bunch of almost completely naked buff dudes. Don't care.

If I watch TV or a YouTube video I sometimes get to see ads for gyms or shaving machines or whatever featuring half naked buff dudes. Don't care.

If I watch, oh, I don't know, a Thor movie, I get to see a really buff dude who looks nothing like me having a scene whose sole purpose is showing him shirtless. Still don't care.

As a matter of fact, I strongly suspect most people don't give a flying fig about sexualization. I know I don't. What I don't know is people who do outside the Internet.

I would like to point out that, as others have said, men and women aren't sexualized the same way, because what our culture considers sexy for one sex rarely applies to the other. Moreover, sexualization isn't done only for the benefit of the opposite sex. Shockingly enough, most people prefer to play with idealized avatars.

Irrelevant, because there's this things called trends. Most people would consider a very muscular man in a bikini to look ridiculous, because it is so counter to what we're used to. This is especially true of straight men, who wouldn't be attracted to the man in question and therefore would only see a dude in a thong.

Conversely, a woman in a bikini is widely considered sexy, especially by straight men (and I presume lesbians as well). The equivalent of this wouldn't be a dude wearing a bikini. More like a speedo.

Culture matters. Perception is largely shaped by it.

Not sure about lesbian part. As far as I've seen it's only boys problem that they want boobs to be thrown at their face. Lesbians I know don't have unstoppable urge to look at female body.

"Most people" you mean straight men? You are speaking for straight men and how they would act if they see the dude in a bikini.

And I'm saying that some women would find that one hot. And gay dudes.
