The overt oversexualization of ME2 and ME3 is one of the things that makes me think of ME1 much more fondly than it's sequels. The games got dumber and more juvenile with each installment and the butt-cam and robot camel-toe are glaring reminders of that fact.

Daily reminder that neither ME2 nor ME3 introduced a race of sexy blue-skinned space babes capable of mounting (and being mounted by) every living being.

I like how every time this topic comes up, there's always that one person who implies that if a female character isn't overly sexualized they can't tell it's a woman.

Wait are you telling me that Cassandra is a woman??? What kind of sorcery is that? :P Seriously though I agree that characters should wear appropriate armor in combat but I also want them to be sexy and feminine/masculine when free from duty.

But what do you do if someone just doesn't feel like it?

Fine them.

(I'm still on page nine, and this discussion has likely already passed, but...)

I'm a staunch conservative, and all this unwarranted and downright incorrect spouting of "SJW" embarrasses me tremendously.

Also, the people incorrectly equating practicality and realism to prudishness are annoying me.

So if it is explained in lore or is part of the characters personality then it is fine to "over sexualize" a character?

well then BioWare should continue doing what they do an i have no idea why this topic exists

Eh.

The primary issue here, as I see it, is that what qualifies as "overly" sexualized is always going to be a subjective.

A lot of people felt they went too far with Miranda or Jack, but plenty of people were fine with them both.

Personally, I don't want to see them make a character who's primary trait is sex jokes, and I would like everyone to be wearing pants at least 85% of the time, but at the same time, I don't want them going into a neo-puritan movement, turning everyone into sexless drones.

Ya, all those men that play female chars just to look at them will hopefully get what they finally deserve.

I don't need my female protagonist to wear a cat suit or skin tight armor with giant cleavage and butt window to find her physically attractive. While revealing in-your-face clothes totally have their place I find elegant and tasteful attire that is also practical much more attractive in almost all situations.

Yes.
I fear SJW's will compel Bioware into making a dull, dry game.

This.

It depends on the setting too. A character going into battle or exploring an uncharted world that is normally hostile to life, shouldn't be wearing heels or an outfit that exposes skin. Combat armor / exosuit with helmet, please.

But if that same character is hanging out off duty in Andromeda's version of Purgatory, Eternity, or Afterlife? There the battle armor would be weird, and that same character would not be out of place wearing something sexy.

On that note, I hope the game follows in the footsteps of ME3 and has characters wear different clothing while off duty.

What he said.

With all the mythical and magical and crazy stuff we saw and can do in Mass Effect, people now want to jump on sexy female outfits cause they aren't...."realistic"? Sorry but this is just another borderline SJW perspective thread where a whole bunch of people want to jump on the idea of women being too sexualized in videogames. I mean, it is a VIDEOGAME.

Does seeing an attractive female in a tight suit really offend you? If so, then I am sorry, move on to something else.

Call me whatever you want but I am a guy and I do not get offended over seeing women in sexy outfits. I can understand the argument against that sniper chick in MGS5 because that is supposed to be a game in a modern "today" setting and it is really out of place. But this is Mass Effect we are talking about with million year old robot gods, all female blue alien race that live for 1000 years, people with force-like powers called Biotics, and a protagonist who had his/her spaceship blown to space.....chocking for air in the middle of space.....feel to his/her death on the planet below and became hamburger meat.....and was "put back together".....

.....and yet we want to talk about practicality?
anigif_enhanced-buzz-21965-1375812046-21

You're assuming I was perfectly fine with asari and Shep's death and resurrection. I wasn't in the slightest.
Also, while I can't speak for everyone, this crap about saying that everyone against skimpy outfits in combat is a SJW or whatever is idiotic. I'm a straight male, and I like Miranda's outfit. My problem is Which ALL the characters Not having armours in combat, Thane and Jacob included. They're equally idiotic as Miranda, Jack, and Samara. So *in a kindly tone* stop pulling this crap again.

I'd be OK if it was a properly armoured thong. Gotta protect your junk.

There's a mod for that in ME3.  You can even tweak the coalesced file to where the nude "armor" mesh has max stats.  You can do it with some of the more, um, revealing Asari dancer outfits too.  I couldn't do that myself.   :P

As I've said countless times: dressing for the occasion should be the rule. No exposed skin in space, everything covered for protection in combat, acknowledgement of the fact that armor actually has a thickness. In a scenario where you want to be inconspicuous, don't dress in a way that draws attention to yourself. In "civilian" situations, requirements are much more loose and I wouldn't mind a little exposed skin and drawing attention to nice features, as long as it doesn't fall under "blatant sexualizing" like in some of Miranda's scenes.

Like seriously, I'm going to be cringing if we have characters running around in stiletto's, catsuits, spandex, etc.

EDIT: I am mainly referring to the combat outfits, casual outfits are ok

EDIT 2: This has nothing to do with being politically correct, as I could care less about that bullcrap. This is about logic and practicality

The Nexus modders might have something to say about that, if they are able to do any armour creations.

As long as they put on proper armor when we head out to a firefight, I don't care.

Can't wait to see Blue Team in action, I've waited too long for this moment :P

Oh god.

Halo 4's problem was assuming that everyone had read or was interesting in reading mountains of shitty tie in books. Sounds like they're just doubling down on that mistake.

I will agree with that complaint, The Didact and Librarian weren't explain well at all, neither were the storm covies (until SPOPs). But in the case of blue team, I will make an exception. I dont care, it has been something I've always wanted in a halo game

I'm inclined to agree.
If it makes sense for the character or the situation, then sexualisation is perfectly fine.
Outside of that, however, it becomes unnecessary, and not something I'd personally need or want.

You really want people like that to vote?

You know, I went to bed last night and was good, and then I wake up this morning to this bullshit. Who the **** are you? You don't want me to vote because I disagree with you about a ****** video game?! For ****'s sake. Get some goddamn perspective.
