That or something like this

ashley_williams_by_spi_ritual_ity-d48a5v

Shep shouldn't be the only one to wear a hoodie :P

That, or the t-shirt and utilities trousers like Vega wears.

As much as some people griped about Vega wearing a t-shirt I thought that was actually fairly realistic. Usually when you're on your base or on ship and working, in class, or lounging around before the final formation that marks the end of your day, the camouflage blouse (top) and your hat are off. Its just a lot more comfortable unless you're in a place that's cold.

I agree with you on everything you said.  I think it's easy to forget that most of these people aren't soldiers and Thane himself is an assassin who relies on stealth.  He's only going toe to toe with enemies because he's working with a group of people who are.  Same with Kasumi.  As for the bolded, I agree there too, I just wanted to say that part reminds me that Kaidan and Shepard(if a biotic class) seem like the only two biotics who wear heavy armor.  Not even Asari commandos wear the heavy stuff.

For me, the biggest thing is that each of our squadmates are individuals with a wide variety of different backgrounds, skillsets, and mentalities. My primary desire is for all of them to have unique looks to reflect that.

If Miranda, Jack, and the rest not wearing armor makes them stand out from the endless hordes of generic mooks that we tear through, I cite that as a positive.

Isn't it similar to one of the armour Ashley had in ME3?

Didn't say I liked her armor in ME3.

All I gotta say is if they are going to sexualize things. I want sexy men too. Like...I wanna see crotch shots like Miranda had butt shots. I want men with their shirts off and...and well ill think of more demands.

If they can provide this, then by all means. Make sexy women.

I'm going to say that I dislike that armor. The Miranda piece above is nice and I wouldn't mind if it replaced what she wore in game because it's still very distinctive.

But this piece that Ash is wearing here? Looks like a darker shade of every generic blue suns merc I shot down in ME2. It's just a pallet swap, and it bores me. Don't want to take away from the effort the artist put into this, but I just see this as the kind of suit that gets lost in the crowd in ME.

I'm not crazy about the armor redesign there either. I like the original ME3 version of that better.

I was just talking about her utilities (the outfit on the left). I probably should have used BDUs instead, which is Army speak for utilities. People are probably more familiar with the US Army's lingo than jarhead jargon.

I think she had an alternate outfit in 3 that I liked well enough, but in general I just don't much like Ashley, so I rarely used her at all.

True, I think a lot of what's going on in this thread is  a bit of self insertion.  The old "If that were me I'd do X."  or "If I were in a fire fight, I'd want heavy armor." Thus it is stupid for any of the characters to select something else.  It sort of reminds me of the Interview Quentin Tarantino did where he pointed out something similar to the Interviewer who had a problem with the decisions one of the characters in his movie made.  He reminded her that although her opinion is reasonable she isn't considering any of the character's own motivations, past, behavior within the story, et al.  Essentially, she was only considering what makes sense for her and not the people within the story.

I actually wouldn't mind hearing a debate among the characters concerning armor types and biotics.  They did something almost like it with biotics vs physical strength.  I wouldn't want them to pull a DAI where the creators simply mock and info dump about certain armor types.

I really liked Tali's armored appeared

Man, so did I. A bit of plating over the "shoot me in the face" mask worked wonderfully. ME3 did armour better than ME2, if little else.

I have to say, it's funny the assumption that everyone is from the US; just something I noticed.

Anyway, I liked Liara's heavy armour in ME3 even if it was a bit boobalicious.

That's the one I disliked about Liara, it felt so random and a copy & paste of Ashley's armor

I actually did like that armor and had Liara wear it whenever I brought her on a mission. Had a very distinctive color scheme to it that  made it stand out, even if the design itself wasn't wholly original.

Despite my defense of certain characters lacking armor, I'm not inherently opposed to it so long as they have very distinctive looks. I'll defend a lack of armor when it makes sense for the character and the look is iconic - and I consider Miranda and Jack's looks to be iconic. But if you give me a viable alternative, I'll support it.

I did no such thing.

I did however assume that most people here have watched American war movies or action films or have played one or more shooters, nearly all of which tend to use US Army jargon, even when portraying people who don't use US Army jargon.

I guarantee that most people here have probably heard BDUs used in either film or video games, but probably haven't heard utilities. I was just acknowledging that I should have been more careful with the words I used, to avoid confusion.

I don't agree with this. The original Mass Effect established a sense of realism, with soldiers wearing heavy armor and protection. I think Miranda was an interesting character, but they did trade realism for sexualization, and that was so cheap. The tragedy was that we couldn't even change the armor of companion characters. I understand that someone like Thane would want to stay flexible, but please give him some light armor that looks like it can take a few shots.

I don't think people are saying they want all characters in heavy armour though. Having a team composed of characters with both a distinctive look and different types of armour (depending on the character) is what I want.
On the topic, I hope they'll make lighter armours for the MC too.

Oh it wasn't meant as a critiscm or anything, just a general thing I've noticed. Even the swear filter is American. Which is frankly a load of bollocks.

Part of my perspective here is skewed because, as a Playstation Loyalist, ME2 was actually my introduction to the series. I had done some previous reading up on the characters and the story to get a grasp of it and get a reference point for some of my decisions, but that's not really the same as playing the game.

So, my first taste of the game world had Miranda, Jack, Samara, and Thane as they were, so it didn't break any preconceptions about what the world should be.

ME2 was basically the same armor with a different color, ME3 had different (and some very awesome) armors.

I didn't know that detail about EDI... I never used that armor, I think. It was bad enough on Miranda. And I never heard the word cameltoe before (I'm not from the U.S.).

Jeez, Bioware... stay classy, will ya? No wait, GET classy. Thanks.

Like many others have said, proper combat armor, please. And combat-suitable hair styles. That armor can be a bit sexy. I LOVED Liara's white armor. Really suited her. I approve of individual styles for squadmates like in DAI. Wasn't too fond of Liara's boob upgrade, just because why? Stick to one size.

I want good-looking casual outfits for once. Especially for my character. The only one I really liked was the Dr. Chakwas-style one in ME2 for my femShep.

Nah, it has been proven that women are not attracted to men's body and are indeed attracted only to their personalities silly. <--- This idiotic argument will be used by men that not wish to see some male eyecandy in games, just watch it. Free double standarts for everyone!   :)

Not completely true. ME had three different types of armours. There were squadmates, NPCs that used light armours, ad well ad Adept/Engineer Shepard. And there were medium armours as well.

I was more reffering to how people react on those things. The game itself did a good job with equal male and female eyecandy. BUT we got no way the amount of views on male booty compared to Miranda. Even you must see that.
