I'm not a fan of the Asari commando's outfit myself because of the way it looks

But there is a difference between their outfit and what Miranda wears

There is a difference, but it's not one I see as being significant. And this is where the subjectivity of this discussion comes into play.

People want to hide behind the guise of "realism" but yet there are MANY things that the ME trilogy did that does not fall within the realm of realism and yet nobody is bringing those up, I wonder why?

Maybe it's because those things are off topic to this thread? I could go into detail with some of those things, but that's not what this thread is about. If someone wanted to make a "Horribly Unrealistic Things You Don't Want To See in ME:A" thread, I would happily state my opinion.

So what! There is a shot of a rear of a woman with an attractive body. So where is the crime?

How did this bring down the value of the gameplay, setting, characters, or story?

It's incredibly cheesy and tacky, that's how it brings down the value. And it's not just a shot, Miranda's butt has had enough screen time to be considered a supporting character. It's just blatant fan service for horny teenagers that just cheapens the whole thing and makes most people who aren't horny teenagers groan and roll their eyes.

Having sexy ladies in catsuits is one thing, but when it gets to the point of Miranda/Miranda's bum and EDI the sexbot it might be time to tone it down a smidge.

It's not offensive, it's just lame.

The Asari really did get the short end of the stick when it came to armor tbh

Maybe you should actually read the thread instead of going "this thread is about SJW persepective and they hate attractive women"

/facepalm

Nvm there's no point in trying to continue

The basis of this thread was supposed to be about Realism which is funny cause there are far MORE aspects of ME that breaks immersion due to lack of realism but nobody focuses on them. Second, it seemed early on that the focus was more about the females with tight armor and characters like Jacob and Thane were hardly talked about. Jacob has been brought up but Thane even less, and he has part of his chest exposed! THEN somewhere in between, Miranda's butt-cam became a focus.

So we started off talking about women AND men being in tight/no-armor outfits in combat to MAINLY focusing on  Miranda's butt and other female characters.

So in the end, this thread is more about having WOMEN being less sexualized rather than women AND men.

How subjective can you be about visible belly buttons?

If you don't like the topic, dont bother posting, go make your own thread about something you dislike about ME. I am posting about something I dislike, and I have every right to.

The only person that seems like a SJW trying to make it seem like we only want to cover up the females when the thread is about all characters. Seriously stfu with your rubbish. You are running your mouth just to try and look somewhat intelligent when you are anything but.

The camera never zoomed in on Thane's bare chest while he was talking about his dead wife.

In fairness, that's largely because the asari are kinda stuck in the past, and are generally restricted to light or medium armor from ME1, which was mostly crap. At least the turians always had the trash can torso armor from the start.

See, my point exactly!

This thread was SUPPOSED to be about people in catsuits during COMBAT men and women included even though Jacob and Thane is rarely mentioned in this thread in the same realm as EDI and Miranda. Now the focus has changed to a character's butt in NON-COMBAT situations.

No, the basis of thread is about being more practical or more functional in combat

Except Jacob did get mentioned and was talked about quite a lot, it is true that Thane was less mentioned

So in the end, this thread is more about having WOMEN being less sexualized rather than women AND men.

Because Miranda's butt shot is the biggest example of this

So again I'm still under the impressed that you and a few others never bothered actually reading the thread

This is why I'm sick of the whole "SJW" thing.  I have friends that are feminists, friends that are egalitarian, and friends that aren't any sort of "ist" that subscribe to the life theory of "Just don't be a jerk."  Friends that are Mormon, friends that are satanic/humanists, friends that are atheists.  Some are very outspoken, some are not.  What do they all have in common?  They love these games and love talking about them.

Isn't that what should be important?  Discussing and enjoying the games we love with one another?  Debating and joking about what's to come?  I wish we could just talk about this like adults without "straight male" being used as an insult by a few, or "dudebro" or "SJW" involved in this.

Honestly? Never noticed it in game. Just like I never noticed EDI's cameltoe - though in that case I think it's because I never had her in that outfit.

But yeah, until it was pointed out on the forums with screen shots, it was really something that I hadn't picked up on. Whether that's because I just don't have the attention to detail others have, or because when Miranda's front was too the camera, my eyes were generally on her face, I don't know.

But this thread wasn't about Miranda's butt. This was about characters in tight clothes/non armor in combat....which includes Thane. So again, why doesn't Thane and Jacob not get the same level of attention? After all, Miranda's butt scenes were not during combat, which is what this thread was about....COMBAT!

How is Miranda's butt shot an example of "this". Point me to some videos or screenshots in which Miranda's butt was "Forced" into my view during a COMBAT sequence.

The fact is, you can argue against me and say that I am speaking to a boogyman, but the fact is, this thread IS about SJW perspectives in the idea that people are against women being sexualized in videogames. Anita Sarkeesian would be proud of this thread.

People want to hide behind the guise of "realism" but yet there are MANY things that the ME trilogy did that does not fall within the realm of realism and yet nobody is bringing those up, I wonder why?

Telling me this thread is just about realism and now SJW agendas is like telling me the Confederate flag has no racial connotations to it, just "heritage".

That's just not true. I brought up the realism (or lack thereof) a lot. Pretty much in every thread, including this one. So did many others. I even wrote a fairly long post asking for more realism in ME:A in my own thread where I mentioned the need for proper suits with helmets.

No one here has any issues with sexualization. Most people are simply asking for it to happen outside of combat, because fighting in stripper outfits goes too far. Not because of women's rights issues but because it isn't consistent within the game. Absolutely everyone in the game is wearing some kind of armor and most of the time a helmet when they expect combat. Only our squad mates run around in sexy outfits. Simply doesn't make sense. Especially not in space or on planets with a toxic atmosphere.

It isn't just sexy outfits though. There's also the issue of exposed skin, which affects almost the entire squad.

Is there an issue with women displayed as sex objects? Maybe. I'm not touching that though... if a woman is offended by it, then she can speak out for herself, she doesn't need us to get offended on her behalf.

The thread is not soley based on combat. It is the biggest issue, but the thread is based on sexualization in general. I'm the OP, I'm pretty sure I'd know. Also, maybe reading the title would help your sorry excuse for a strawman

Yes because her catsuit (silly in combat) is the only thing that enables the mandatory prominent ass shot to have significance.  I've said before I don't care if Miranda wants to wear a chainmail bikini out of combat - I just don't want to have her sweating cleavage be point and center while talking to her about something utterly unrelated.

Again, still waiting on someone to point me to a combat scene where Miranda's rear was forced into my view. A scene that is UNIQUE to Miranda....

Also still waiting for Jacob and Thane to be mentioned as much as the females.....

Her alt DLC outfit was great. But maybe that crap should've been included IN THE GAME, and not sold for more, because of greed. Same with the other alt outfits (thane and EDI)
