Praised the alternate photo? Where? When?

Criticized the ME:A photo? Where? When?

It is obvious you just want to attack me on this issue, so let me say this. As a woman of color with really nice curves myself, I stand like that (Tali picture) everyday when in an idle stance and it does not hurt my back at all. So yes, give me the sexy. hand on hip stance! I am all for sexy, form-fitting, graceful, and feminine because that is me. And every post I have made on the issue of armor and body shape has reaffirmed that.  I do not owe you anymore explanation on the tumblr photo, take it up with the artist if it upsets you so much.  ;)

To me both pictures are fine, the ME:A pose is tad uncomfortable for me to assume in a prolonged stance as if being painted (as I stated above). Not for a quick photo of course! I do not consider it hyper-sexualization either (as stated above). So what is your quarrel now?

Anyways, I hope everyone gets what they want out of the characters. Good Luck!  :)

No quarrels at all. You seem to offer a balanced point of view now and that is good.

There's no need To be rude. Are You scared Bioware won't put skimpy outfits in MEA?

Yes.

I fear SJW's will compel Bioware into making a dull, dry game.

I like me some eye candy.

Many people frown upon Miranda's boob and arse shots. I couldn't get enough. Guilty as charged. Dat crack tho. <3

From a combat practicality standpoint I agree. How Jack can survive in intense atmospheres with a breather and a belt around her chest was a little silly. I also felt bad for Thane when I took him on Jack's loyalty mission. The rainy weather I put him under was probably the reason his kepral's syndrome kept him from fully stopping Kai Leng, but it's his fault for not wearing something practical.

In a character designing and fantasy standpoint... I really don't care. I'd rather every character look unique in and out of battle unlike in ME1's bland armors. Just make them combat and space atmosphere viable.

Thane's outfit actually has a medical purpose. From the Shadow Broker's terminal:

Medical Report
Dr. Chakwas

Lung Capacity: 42% (left-side lung shows large lesions, right lung has nodular lesions only)
Antibiotic treatment: Now resistant to cipoxidin, malanarin, alburicin
Metastatic progress: stomach, liver (minor), heart (negligible at this time)

Treatment Options:
Viable transplant candidate but refused to be added to list
Synthetic lung generation currently impossible for drell

Therapy and Care:
At this time, Mr. Krios should continue getting regular cardiovascular exercise in order to stimulate lung movement and prevent or delay the stiffness that causes lack of oxygen transport. While physical stimulation may also be beneficial in keeping tissue flexible, any injury at this point will dramatically impact Mr. Krios's body and cause rapid degeneration. It is unclear how much longer Thane will be able to serve in direct action. Thane should continue to wear loose clothing that leaves his chest uncovered to prevent moisture buildup that could worsen the problem.

The drell eidetic memory is often beneficial in allowing drell to escape unpleasant scenes by losing themselves in happier times. In this case, however, Mr. Krios should try to restrict the time spent reminiscing as prolonged sedentary activity may increase the rate of lung degradation.

This suggests that what is best for Mr. Krios currently is to continue to remain active and to engage with other team members in order to stay mentally and emotionally stimulated.

I don't mind sexual characters, but don't make it only about the sexuality. This is true regardless of the orientation.

As long as the clothing is in keeping with the personality of the person wearing it, and the situation they find themselves in, then honestly, I don't really care. Not every combat situation is going to require armour. There are bigger concerns pre-release for this game than worrying what characters are going to be wearing.

As a woman, all I can say is that if you can rock the catsuit, then rock the catsuit.

I wonder if a sexualized quarian(polar opposite of Tali) would have the opposite effect Tali did and bring no interest to her. lol

I'd like BSN to be consistent.  Which is it?  Do we want realism in our games or do we want fantasy?  I see the same people in this thread happily chirping that they don't care if it's not realistic for Miranda to wear a catsuit and no helmet because they enjoy the show, yet turning around and pearl clutching about 'unrealistic' demographics in the game in other threads.  I can deal with either side (I'm leaning towards the unrealistic side myself, since it's, you know, science fiction), but I just need to know which way you are all leaning here so I can keep up.......

How about we have a couple of over sexualised male and female characters for people to drool over. Then the rest can be prude or conservative. Then it's fair for everybody, yeah?

If the OP means in terms of no Miranda butt-cam and EDI cameltoe, then sure.  It wasn't to me that it was extremely sexualized as it was just plain immature.  I wasn't a fan of Ashley makeover, mainly because I didn't think it suited her personality.  Otherwise, given all the fantastical nature of ME, I don't see a problem with most of the character design.

After reading these forums for over a year and a half, I think I'm one of the few that never saw Jack as sexualized.  I consider myself a feminist too and I never understood that PoV.  My first thought when I saw her wasn't, "Oh, she's barely in anything so the devs are sexualizating her."  I took one look at her and thought, "Okay, if she can run around like that in the ME series, she's dangerous as hell."  I was right, and she's my go-to squadmate in ME2 for dealing with large groups of husks.

As some of the other posters put it, if it suits their personality, then it works for me.  Miranda's catsuit was weird at first, but then I started to look at it in a different way.  The white second-skin is rather cold looking, and fits her every curve.  That makes sense, since Miranda had a cold layer of ice around her personality that takes time and a befriended/romanced Shepard to break through.  I just hated the camera angles.

When it comes to the ME:A poster...well, one step forward and two steps back.  They are doing a lot better this time around at least.

Nah dude, I'm a black guy living in the U.S.

I love Mass Effect because of its diversity. My favorite character in all of ME is David Anderson.

Sexy humans and aliens have nothing to do with diversity in my opinion. But I guess that's up for debate.

I never really saw Jack as sexualized either.  It's probably with how they did it.  With Miranda, the blatant ass shots were so over the top that it was impossible ignore.  With EDI, it seemed preposterous to think that the person who crafted the metal framework for the body would include that particular female anatomy in his/her design.

But with Jack, it wasn't a big deal.  She just was who she was.  It got zero play and that was kind of cool.  The same with Samara as well.  Yes, her boob window seems a little silly, but, again, it's science fiction.  I can suspend belief on that.  It seemed to fit her character as well.  Sexy, but not over the top.  Feminine, yet still armor.  I can understand why people would see it as sexualized, but it never bothered me.

With regard to the poster, I think the female pose is ridiculous.  The male PC has a badass, back-to-camera shot (and don't give any of this "Well, he's got a butt shot" nonsense because there's practically zero butt to be seen in that shapeless armor) and she's got this odd contorted hyper feminine pose.  I guess it could be that she's in mid-motion.  But it's not clear and it just seems dumb.  That alternate picture was 100x better in my opinion.  Still clearly female, but not awkwardly posed.  I'd say it's two steps forward and one step back, though.  At least she's not in a catsuit with cameltoe, ammirite?  Net positive in my opinion.

I learn something new everyday.  Apparently Miranda's ass and EDI's cameltoe are "the soul" of Mass Effect.

Why did I hear "the soul" in Jacob's voice?   "The sooooooooooul"

Weird. I never noticed the EDI Cameltoe you lot speak of.

I think anybody can be sexualised depending on what ones state of mind is. That's how fetishism starts.

For instance we have the "furry" phenomenon. While I think it's just plain ridiculous, people are turned on by it.

I have heard of people who are sexually aroused by nuns. Honest nuns don't have sex, but the innocence, the chaste and the effort to cover up with the nun outfit is a major turn on for some.
