Ah, if only you had a point to make. tsk, tsk, bait attempt fail.

I don't like her cocked hip because it unnecessarily sexualizes her.

I don't see her as sexualized because of the pose, the pose itself just looks awkward compared to the dude :P

Eh, I see the hip **** as a bit sexualized. Like I said earlier, it's not horrible but it's there.

I don't see either character in the poster as sexualized.

I didn't get that impression either. My initial impression was that they were going for dramatic with both of them, by having the male appearing like he was preparing for battle and the female character in motion and simultaneously looking at her omni tool.

I could see how some might have viewed it as being sexualized though, even if I don't necessarily agree with it.

I kind of think the issue might be a perspective one. If it wasn't 3/4 and was more straight on, I think maybe it wouldn't have looked as weird.

Yeah, it felt like it was two concept arts put together.

The male looks like if by himself he would have his back against a wall with the unidentified aliens skulking about behind it.

The female looks like if by herself she would be walking in some terrain while using her omni-tool to search for something.

I can see it too, though to be honest anything can be seen as sexualized. But in that image, both characters are equal in it, in that neither intentionally are.

That was my impression as well.

Even though I'm more likely to play as the dude I also thought the female character looked more interesting in the poster. I thought she had a more dramatic pose with more interesting stuff going on (omni tool). I got more of a Mass Effect vibe from her than the male character.

Anyone else noticed that none of them have N7 on them?

hmmm, Do you think this means that we won't be playing as a soldier?

Yeah, the poster made it more likely my first character will be female because of that.

I did.

Possibly since I didn't see the Alliance symbol either

Though can't say for sure since it's still a year away

It would be interesting to explore being outside the military hierarchy. Do you trust their judgement calls? Do you just their procedures? Do you like following their orders?

Granted, we had something like that before but this time, it would be completely blinded to what their unofficial agendas were and what they were unofficially doing and so forth.

BW is really big on the N7 symbol as a sign of continuity within the series. I'm guessing they'll tie us to the military somehow even if we remain civilians. By that I mean, we're some sort of expert working with the military or using military resources.

I think we will still be some kind of soldier, considering we will have combat training and military technology with us. But rather than a front-line soldier, I think we'll be more akin to a scout of some sort. Which makers sense since we are scouting planets for things.

This, and that the N7 guy had the same armour of the character shown as the N7 PC last year lead me to think that something might've changed in the protagonist department.
It's highly possible I'm wrong, but it's fun to speculate.

I see them as equally sexualized ... which is not very much whatsoever.

If she is, then the dude totally is by showing off his ass in a Jean Claude Van Damme pose.

I'd love to be a scientist with combat training!

Our character is probably associated with the N7 dude in someway like he recruited us to be a scout

The lack of the N7 logo might just mean that they are regular soldiers rather than special operations personnel.

In any case the Arkcon and pathfinder initiatiive stuff gives me the impression that if the characters aren't military, they will belong to a paramilitary organization.

I find it really odd how they have pushed the N7 logo. I never felt it was an important part or symbol for the series.

Probably because it just looks really cool.

The N7 logo and the red stripe down the arm on N7 armor is boss.

More reason to have Kevin Spacey as a VA :P

I hope we're not military.

Also, I like sexy poses now and then. I just don't see a character being sexualized as an inherently bad thing. If sexuality is all there is to them, then they might bore me, but I also don't think Bioware has ever made a character like that.

woman's looks and sexuality being depicted as the only things that make her valuable!

The only things that make her valuable? No. But looks and sexuality are the most valuable assets a woman have. Good looks and a healthy sexuality will greatly improve her value on the sexual market. The quickest way for a woman to ruin her chances of finding a good man is becoming obese and neglecting her looks.

Yeah, just dismiss the link between how women are depicted and rape culture. No way, any of this is linked. Nice try.

Rape culture does not exist, most certainly not in the west. If you think the west is a "rape culture" I'd urge you to live in the middle-east for a year or two. There is a reason why the women there wear burkas.
