They Didn't. They said the N7 in the trailer isn't the MC.
Previously they said the MC had something to do with N7.

In any case the Arkcon and pathfinder initiatiive stuff gives me the impression that if the characters aren't military, they will belong to a paramilitary organization.

I find it really odd how they have pushed the N7 logo. I never felt it was an important part or symbol for the series.

 

Yeah. I am completely sick of the whole N7 shtick. It feels like real world marketing seeped into the trilogy's story. While I do not mind our character having some sort of connection to the Alliance military (needs some justification for being able to fight well after all), I do hope they are not part of the N program.

I hope we're some kind of civilian specialist brought in for reasons, and that with that we'd also get more leeway in how we roleplay the main character's personality than we did with Shepard. Instead of just always being a tough-as-nails career soldier, we could be any number of things like, I dunno... a by the book diplomat? An experienced ex-mercenary captain?
