But if she's not contorted into an exaggerated pose with an arched back, how will you ever know that she's a woman?

You're right.  I guess we will have to install a cleavage window in her armor.  :P

In all seriousness, though, this raises an interesting question for me.  If an explicit point of marketing both PCs is to advertise that you can play as both male and female, it sort of does become important to differentiate the female at least enough that players realize "oh, I can also play as a woman!" Most people unfortunately when confronted with a gender neutral human in full body armor will just assume it's male.  In that particular poster, it seems like just removing the helmet for both would be sufficient.

Since it's Bioware's game you can tell who is man and who is woman by their body types ^^

I never really understood the heels, but I don't mind a little 'sexiness' as long as it doesn't look impractical.

For example, I love curve fitting armors that aren't super bulky, but still offer decent protection (see below).

That outfit does look good, except for the buttcheeks :P

It kinda looks like she has butt crack-window, though her skin isn't blue.. otherwise that's quite nice. I prefer heavier myself.

I thought the modular N7 armor available to Shep in ME2 and 3 - all of it - was phenomenal.

It looked so great.

N7 armors you could model and change colors? They are quite awesome.

Yeah, that's a pretty good outfit - probably doesn't need to emphasise her butt cheeks quite so much, but overall it shows of her body shape very well, while still offering a sensible level of covering for someone going into combat, as well as a degree of protection. To be honest, apart from obviously being more detailed and better rendered, it's not that different from ME1's light armours, which is a good thing.

Lol, Femshep probably did a lot of squats to get that booty.

But seriously, as long as it isn't in your face all the time with silly camera shots, I really don't see the problem with this. ;)

She never missed squat day just like how Capt. America never missed leg day  :P

I agree, it's not a major problem just one of things I find amusing

Conveys a very different image... although I guess a workout is a workout is a workout.

(That was terrible. I apologize.)

This was pretty much my Shepard's overall armor set up in ME3

I also wanna bring this back to Jack in ME2 real quick, I feel like if she wore something like this plus a helmet for hazardous environments it would look cool and kinda fit her character

I'd dig the shit out of that bottom armour for Jack. Figures she'd be naked when we find her, but there was plenty of time to find something warmer.

Space is cold.

I have gone back and played ME2 and ME 3 recently to re-cap my memory of these games and besides Kelly and Traynor there isn't a genuinely attractive main female character in these games. It must be incredibly hard to make good character designs in a video game that will have broad appeal, the end result of the character models based on Chobot and Strahovski are evidence of this.

The new generation of graphics technology might make it easier but even so I don't see why you would purposely make the female leads unattractive considering how hard it is to make them attractive in a game. It's not like making a movie where even a slightly above average person can be appealing, it's much harder to make pixels appealing and even harder still if it's an alien race. That said, too much sexulization can be unattractive but I don't think the goal should be to make the characters unattractive.

I don't know about this.  I am *extremely* oblivious to people's physical appearance in RL.  There's people I've not only met multiple times, but I've worked with or had long conversations with and I can't remember what they look like. The fact that one figure was slightly curvier than the other is something that I might quite realistically fail to notice (and in fact probably would).  But then, maybe I'm an outlier on this issue and thus not something to consider.

Yeah, I could see her going with something like that when the alternative is a corrosive atmosphere melting off her tattoos or some such.

As far as Sci Fi armors go, I'd love to see something similar to these two...

The bottom one would need a darker color scheme though, and with the top one the breastplate extended down to cover the abdomen.

My femshep's armor was a mesh of different pieces of armor from different sets.  I never used the breatplates that looked just like dudeshep's though.  To me they made her torso look too male.

I just dropped into cloak and used energy drain if my shields were low so I didn't really have this problem.
