In both ME1 and DA:O, you had lots of options, but the variety was greater in terms of stats than in actual unique armor models. Most mage robes looked exactly the same. Rogue armors were completely identical, and the female version had the stupid low cut that you could not avoid. The lower level stuff you got at the beginning of the game was just the same generic crap that every other NPC was using.  The most memorable armor I can recall in DA:O is what I lifted off of Sophia Dryden's demon-y corpse, but even this is just a reskin of the heavy armor present in the game.

So exactly like the more recent games then? Except in the more modern ones there are less variety in styles.

DA2 also had some decent armor along with those and I would still take those over the ones in DAO and ME1

DA2 had no decent armor. The only ones that came close were DLC.

I like Ash's wardrobe change. I don't think it's too sexualized either.

Agreed, though I do prefer a few of the concepts they considered more than the shipped attire.  Her hair should've stayed up, though.

To each their own.  I liked the armor options in DA:I, especially for the mages.  I don't like the neck wedge on Cass, but I thought it looked nice otherwise:

Thanks for proving my point. They prioritized the 'iconic' looks of the followers over the looks of the armors for the protagonist.

Maybe you're character just wears it really well.  :P

It just looks generally a bit over heavy to me, or rather, not well fitted. Like the Inquisiton needs to get better tailors on staff.

I didn't mind the armor that Ashley wore. I would've liked her hair to remain in a bun like in ME1/ME2

One of main complaints in DAO was that mages constantly had to wear robes :P

And on female characters I thought certain robes looked ridiculous, like the Chasind Robes.

Especially when Fereldan looks so damn cold and you go to places like Haven were there are literally icicles the size of dragons.

You're acting as is that's the only type of armor in the game

In your opinion.  I think my mage looks fantastic, and I would love to see more armor like that in future DA games.  I especially liked the feathered pauldrons, since black feathers have been apart of most mage armors in DA games.  It's a full coat and this is one of the very very few RPGs that I've ever personally played where I wasn't forced into robes.  It isn't the only set of armor I really like, but it is my favorite.

I can understand if they aren't to your taste, and I can understand if you felt I proved your opinion, but we should probably agree to disagree here.   :)

Well, my human mage rocked it too.  You know my thoughts about the Inquisition needing a few tailors and the armor is the least of them.   :P

All we need now is more fur armor like Cullen and Solas :P

Antivan tailoring is even a perk and it doesn't make you fabulous.

Or maybe Antiva just has terrible tailors I guess.

You know, I just thought of that in terms of ME games.  That could get a little awkward.

NPC: "Ooh, your leather coat is so soft.  It's got a great shine.  I've never seen anything like it.  What's it made of?"

PC: "Treated elcor skin."

NPC: "Oookay.  I'll be somewhere else.  Away.  Far away."

Obviously this is all subjective, but frankly I think you're a little cray.

When I first played DA:O, I couldn't help but notice how abysmal the armor options were. My female rogue Warden started off in what looked like a leather sun dress. There was no alternative but a generic looking splintmail armor that had ridiculous boob cups. The only way to escape these things and get something that looked halfway decent was to build a rogue that could equip heavier armor.

And forget about mages. Nothing but motherspanking dresses. Needless to say my arcane warrior ended up in heavy armor too. Like, would it have destroyed the Circle from within to allow mages to wear something resembling pants? This is why the other two games automatically win and DA:O's old ways of armoring everyone up can die in the void.

I'm glad to finally be able to have my PC wear gear that looks like it's made to go out adventuring.

I personally loved this one.

SnapShot176.jpg

And with all the armor upgrades it looks really awesome.

I kinda hope ME:A will keep the modular armor from ME2/ME3 and the ability to change the color too. Honestly, I liked everything about armor/inventory in ME3. I felt they finally hit the right balance between ME1's 50,000 guns and ME2's you get nothing.

Gods, the ME1 inventory system.  What a freaking mess. <_<

I think that's the part of the game I like the least.  The Mako controls are a little wonky, but with some practice (and maybe the booster cheat code) it's not too bad.  It's kinda of endearing, in a weird sort of way.  I agree that they took it too far with so little gun and armor options in ME2.  ME3 did hit a sweet spot for me as well.  I actually found myself changing out weapons for different fights for the first time in the series.  That made it fun.  I also liked the weight option too.  It made sense to me, and I also liked the option of focusing more on personal abilities or on sheer firepower.

I also hope that they keep the color changing options, including the lights.  I guess I'm hoping for a few more rather form fitting options like in ME1 with a balance of the styles from ME2 and beyond for the player character.  On the ship, I'd rather see them dress in whatever "ionic" appearance they have.  Like in DA:I, where they all have their own "look" at Haven/Skyhold.

ME3's method of inventory is modern day Robert Downey Jr. to ME1's 90's version of RDJ.

Omg, that's awesome.  Good way to describe it and you get a lot of points for the reference.

I remember when he was breaking into people's houses and crashing on their couch in the early 90s.  That was sad.  The most painful example for me was during the behind the scenes for Natural Born Killers when they were interviewing him.  It's one of my favorite movies and I own the director's cut.  Wow...Robert was wrecked, incoherent and playing with a spoon compulsively.  Heroin is a helluva drug.

Maybe she got tired of the bun. The lipglossing, was probably more surprising. She really didn't seem like the makeup type. most people tend to do something to their hair or they shave it off.(Jack has kind of copyrighted, that shaved look for the trilogy.)
I also imagine that ME1 had more restriction for hair, and they wanted to show it off in ME3.
I'm not sure I consider hair to be that sensual. A really bad hairday, might be somewhat of a turn off, possibly since it could be distracting from the rest of the person. (Maybe that's just a personal consideration/preference/opinion)

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang helped revive his career.  Then the Iron Man movies came along, they were pretty good and really popular, and well, let's just say I'm glad he never relapsed.

I would've preferred if she went with a pony-tail over letting her hair all the way down, and your right she isn't really the makeup type

My only issue with ME3 Ashley's design is that they did it specifically for sex appeal

@Natashina

Yes! I loved the fact that I didn't have to carry around a shotgun and an AR when I couldn't even use them with my engineer like you do in ME1 and in ME2 when I played my soldier I hated having to carry around weapons that I never used, even though my character could technically use them. Only ever really used AR's and sniper rifles so it was nice in ME3 to be able to equip only those types of weapons. I hope BioWare keeps that feature, too.

And I agree about changing the color of lights too. Nothing was worse than in ME2 having to have red lights with my blue armor. *shudder*

The highest tier Spectre armor in ME1 does the same thing.  Red and black armor, with shiny pale blue lights.  It isn't as bright or as numerous as it is in ME2 though.  I've even tried digging into the coalesced file and there is no way to change light color in ME2.   :(

Indeed he was.  He pulls off a charming jerk very well.

I love that in ME3 I could just walk around with a pistol. I tried beating the entire game with nothing but a maxed out Predator. That was fun.

I'm also a fan of changing the lights. I always choose the light blue.
