As I said before, Bioware got better in designing good-looking armours through the trilogy. I just wish they'd focus on more variety in the vanilla games. I like heavy armours, but I don't was the every MC I make to wear them. Expecially because for certain classes I think lighter armours would fit them better.

Sometimes I don't care for light armor either though. I still put an emphasis on aesthetics.

Another person I wouldn't want to see changed one bit is Aria. She's got commando pants (with her hips and some skin showing), but it's mostly street clothes. And it's badass. I don't want one thing changed about it. Or any future character that might be along the same lines.

ME1's light armor was so tight you could probably wear character defining outfits over it. Add a helmet and you've got sort of okay logic clothes in space.

I'm not sure you can argue that jack wasn't sexualised in me3, given they took the time and effort to model her nice erect nipples.

Again, another meeting i would have liked to have sat through when that got signed off.

You mean this armor, right? I agree, it looks really good on her.

Get rid of the plastic things on her shoulders and legs, and that would make a fantastic...casual outfit.

Sometimes I believe the artists add stuff like that and then no one notices until it's too late... :D

Though I would've liked her more with the Vega kind of casual style.

I was perfectly happy with her ME1 outfit. It looked like...the kind of thing a soldier would wear. I was more meaning in that general that "armour" would've made a great casual outfit for a female character, rather than specifically for her.

It is honestly amazing me how many of these things I just straight up did not notice. Either I'm acing the eye contact challenge or the resolution on my tv is sh*t.

Aria isn't going on a planet with toxic atmosphere dressed like that. Most of the time she's hanging out in nightclubs where comfort trumps safety.

She's not wearing armor to make a point. She demonstrates that she's secure on her throne and not afraid of anyone.

If it was necessary for her to wear armor, then I could easily see her wearing a light armor in the same style as her current outfit. Her current suit would have an additional layer underneath, closing off all the panels showing skin. Instead of her jacket she'd be wearing a white breast plate with an high collar. The sleeves would stay almost the same, except they'd be made from sturdier material. Her helmet would feature a large, oval, transparent faceplate and flare out a bit in the back to accomodate her head tentacles (what are those called anyway?).

You'd take one look at her and she'd still be instantly recognizable as Aria, still look powerful, dangerous and sensual.

Btw... looking for pictures of Aria I stumbled over a few fanart renderings of Aria making out with Councilor Tevos. It would actually explain a lot... ^^

I say that space faring races develop skin suits as a natural evolution for safety concerns in case of a hull breach and your atmosphere is leaking into space really fast. Vacuum, after all, is non prejudicial to sexualized or non sexualized characters. Wether you wear loose clothing or armour, if what you wear doen't fend off the inevitable cold of space nor be able to support you in a vacuum, you are toast!   Which is why body fitting suits are the best design.

Now, if you live in a breathable planet there is room for a varied number of sartorial choices.

My take is that once you have a spaceship and it travels in space, the crew in said ship must wear appropiate suits for survival, in case of a ship wide catastrophe. It is the reason why a carrier, for example, has all kinds of safety rules. clothing rules and colour types and vests and on and on.... especially if you walk the deck! To have someone complain that the clothing worn by these sailors are, say unisexual, is the height of stupidity with no concept of what is required to live and work in a ship and maintain a safe environment.

Take the promo video. The combat suits are form fitting. They need to, to protect you and provide freedom of movement. Also, it is not unsurprising if the manufactured suit also provides a mechanical assist, when running or when lifting or carrying a backpack. These enhancements are necessary to give you an edge over the enemy.  Non of this is possible wearing baggy clothing to remove the suggestion of sexualization with clothes/suits.

Really guys, I much prefer a game I can enjoy than chirping about tight fitting suits.

Yeah, I went back and watched a video on youtube and noticed it pretty quick when I was specifically looking for it. But until that point I've never caught it.

So, adding that to the list along with Miranda's bellybutton and EDI's cameltoe.

That's how Jack dresses. She was topless in ME2 if you remember. That's her STYLE.

She wants to show off her tats. Can agree on cameltoe on EDI thou.

Space isn't cold, it's a vacuum. It has no temperature because it is empty.

It's all about maintaining pressure inside your suit. A skintight suit needs to be flexible and elastic so you can move. That also means the pressure difference would turn you into a balloon the moment you're exposed to space. The alternative would be sealing the suit completely so no air is between it and your skin. You'd only need a helmet then. Problem here is that your skin needs to breathe, too. I won't even get into chafing and sores.

I don't mind the tiers. I just thought the ME1 stuff looked bad. I'd have to see new designs to like it again. The light armor looked goofy on male Shep.. looked alright on Liara, so I guess it's probably good on FemShep too. And I think they improved on the heavy look in 2 (and especially 3). You can see the difference talking to Conrad in Illium. It's stupid looking. -- Then again, it's Conrad who's wearing it.

I think if you looked at it in terms of squad ME2/3 armour styles instead of ME1, then imo it'd be like:

Light: Tali, Kasumi, Thane (dlc), Morinth, Liara, Aria

Medium: Miranda (dlc), Samara, Zaeed, Kaidan, Ashley (armour), Maya, Kai Leng

Heavy: Javik, Vega, Cerberus troopers

I'd be cool with them tiering it like that in ME:A. Lots of room for attractive and unique designs, but with varying levels of defence and effectiveness for the tier.

Honestly, as skin tight as that top is, it wouldn't surprise me if it was literally painted on.

There is still some thermal energy in space from radiation in the IR band, despite it being a vacuum. Close to a significant radiation emitter (for example, a star), the temperature of objects in a vacuum will be pretty high....

As for skin tight suits, yeah, they're not completely practical, but for me at least, they are close enough to being believable that it doesn't set of alarm bells in my head the way many of the ME2 outfits do. I can suspend my disbelief when I see someone wearing a skinsuit in space. I can't when I see Jack or Miranda or Samara wandering around in lethal enviromnents with exposed flesh all over the place. Especially when ME1 established that people wear at least a light suit of armour in combat, and full helmets when not in situations with an Earth-analogue atmosphere. Even more than the gratuitous exploitation, it was this lack of consistency with the established rules of the setting which pissed me off about their outfits.

Well nipples usually do show if you wear light or tight top without bras under it without being erect ^^; And Jack does have tight top which fabris seems to be somehwat see-through so no wonder you can see her nipples. Though I don't really know if that was worth to be animated, just like EDI's cameltoe and Miranda's belly-button.. what's next, you can see someone's dick or balls through tight clothing? Realistic, but maybe bad taste.

I kind of always just assumed her nipples were pierced, which would keep them hard all the time.

Like seriously, I'm going to be cringing if we have characters running around in stiletto's, catsuits, spandex, etc.

Not to mention exposed skin in combat and outer space

EDIT: I am mainly referring to the combat outfits, casual outfits are ok

EDIT 2: This has nothing to do with being politically correct, as I could care less about that bullcrap. This is about logic and practicality

EDIT 3: If you are going to bring up feminism, Anita Sarkesian, or any of the gamergate, feminism gaming war bullcrap, then please feel free to get the **** off my thread.

While I agree on the exposed skin (come on, that would kill you in a vacuum -.-) and the stiletto's (broken legs/arms anyone - as you would fall down a lot if you had to sprint or jump or climb in them!), I have to disagree on the rest.

The rest is ok IMHO (a skintight suit has lots of advantages, the main one being that it's not bulky and inflexible...yes, it might not make the best armor for a shocktrooper, but for a sniper or an explorer (meaning someone who isn't expected to be shot at constantly) it's perfect!)...hell, I like sexualized characters (if - and I stress: if! - it fits the character (like Jack or Miranda who aren't above using seduction and sex to get what they want!))

greetings LAX

I can live with that... if in fact those are light type of armors.
