Several examples of female characters in Halo, none over sexualized, yet the same can't be said for any major female character in ME2-3

Numerous examples

Here are more female armors from the Halo franchise:

Spoiler

If you watch the sprint series on the Halo Channel, there is a scene with motion capture that follows this script:

Halsey: “I tried to warn you this was happening.”
Lasky: “He’s gone in search of her.”
Halsey: “You let him go?”
Roland: “How is it that--”
Palmer: “Nobody lets the Chief do anything. He does what he wants.”
Lasky: “Until zero-thirty-six this morning where he was declared absent without leave.”
Roland: “This isn’t about the Master Chief...”
Halsey: “John is not equipped emotionally to deal with her as a threat.”
Roland: “HEY! Is anyone going to listen to me?”
Lasky: “You’re out of line, Roland.”
Roland: “Yes sir, but so is everyone else!

I don't think it's the last we've seen of Cortana at all.

I saw that too. That could refer to the Librarian as well, though, so I'm not treating it as confirmation just yet.

*Thinks of ME1 armor*

On second thought, I'm fine with anything for my squad mates...even skimpy armor.

If it keeps the devs from creating this again.

I like this, but know that it is because I emphatically disagree with you. Phoenix armor 4 lyfe.

Sex sells. I wonder how many copies of ME2 were sold by Miranda's ass alone. It's really best not to think about these things as it is kind of disturbing but it is what it is. I would play ME regardless, it would be very hard for them to make a ME game I wouldn't buy eventually but I don't see the need to take away things from of series. I would prefer to see them add things to it.

But if they aren't overly sexualized how will I know of their strong CHARACTERIZATION?

Just goes to show that GoW, Halo, Killzone, etc. are all more mature and more sophisticated franchises than the Mass Effect franchise.

Where dat from?

Download the Halo channel app on windows 8/10 or xbox one, and watch the sprint series. There is a section with motion capture going on and this is the dialogue being spouted by the voice actors (matching their characters)

Really? A bunch of flat boring characters that are on steroids is better than a Bioware game just because of some armor?

Well, it's only a matter of time now before someone sincerely and unironically uses this as Exhibit A on "the SJWs are ruining Mass Effect."

SJWs having ruined Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but they do have Bioware gripped by their fingers. As long as they don't "spread" to other companies like RockStar Games or CDPR then I am fine. There is nothing wrong with Bioware being the "go to" developer for SJW demands cause at the end of the day, I still have Witcher 3 and GTA5 if I ever want to fix my "masculine gaming perspective" needs.

It is sort of like going to Taco Bell and still being able to order Fire sauce. It might be too hot for some people, which is why they have Hot/Mild sauce options. But when I goto Taco Bell and I no longer have the option for Fire sauce because people think it is too hot, then that is when things get crazy.

So again, I can accept that Bioware has unofficially become the beacon for SJW demands such as the portrayal of women and other topics. Thats fine because I can still count on CDPR and Rockstar Games to counter that with their games that are come influenced by what the politically correct crowd deems necessary in a videogame.

You know why I believe this is a borderline feminist argument? Because NOBODY has brought up the point of Jacob's combat outfit, or Thane's combat outfit BOTH of which have sexualized tones to them and are ALSO out of place but yet nobody mentions them....because they aren't female.

This thread would have had more creditbility if the OP didn't specifically bring up catsuits and high heels. To me, this is just another attempt to talk about the concept of women in videogames. Yes a few people brought up Jacob's suit, but that does not seem the be the main focus. The main focus seems to be sexy Edi outfits, Miranda's butt cam, and the debate about was Jack sexualized or not. Again, what about Thane's non armor combat outfit? What about Jacob's buldge outfit?

Say what you want but this thread IS more about women's portrayal versus a serious conversation about realistic representations of characters in combat.

It's definitely an issue, but it never reaches the egregiousness of Jack's leather strap. Or attempting to fight in high heels. And I don't think Jacob's bulge is ever waved in your face the way Miranda's butt is. Certainly never to the extent that Miranda's butt is. I said it earlier in this thread, and I'll say it again: everyone needs armor and a helmet in situations like combat or being on a toxic world. What they wear in more casual situations is a different story.

Yeah, Halo is the franchise that proves that a Shooter can have RPG-level storytelling.

Gears of War gets a bad rap. It's real badgood. I actually love it quite a bit.

There's a scene in the third game where a major character dies. The sequence is full of veiny action and noble, muscular sacrifice and set to an instrumental rendition of "Mad World."

It's the most brodude thing ever, assuming that's what passes as moving and profound for a brodude. To this day, I can't think of it without smiling.

ODST was quite well done as well, Reach was bad, 4 was ok campaign wise. 5 looks to be shaping up nicely

Flat and boring? GoW characters had more depth than many of the characters of Mass Effect. The factions were more interesting and better fleshed out as well. I actually felt sorry for the locust when I finally wiped them out in GoW3. Can't say I felt the same when I wiped out the geth in ME3.

Also GoW has vastly better gameplay than ME. It took BioWare 3 games before they finally got their third-person shooter mechanics right, and even then it felt more clunky than GoW.

I'm perfectly fine with those kinds of armors being available as options, especially to the protagonist since they are "our" character after all.

Then I guess we'll have to disagree on ME2 being dumber than ME1.

Project Lazarus. You lose. Besides, most of the dumbest stuff in ME1 is only dumb in retrospect because the writing of ME3 was so bad that it made it dumb. For example, the Starbrat controlling the Citadel but needing the Keepers to let the Reapers come through the Citadel.

the light armors in particular looked like wetsuits

I thought they looked sufficiently futuristic and utilitarian for military armor.

And they STILL haven't added blindfire to ME. They better add it to ME:A or pre-order cancelled.
