I'm not seeing a fundamental difference in those Tali pics.  They are slightly different but neither seems (more) sexualized than the other.  In fact, I wouldn't say either are really sexualized at all.  There's a little wink and nod to it, but that seems totally tame and nothing really to note, frankly.  Am I missing something?

Only that it's outrageous for females to have hips, it seems.

@Safronette

It might be more helpful if you post pictures of Tali's original outfit so we can compare it to the two you already posted.

I'd say bias if you can't see her waist being a few inches smaller and exaggerating her hips more. They also slightly did it to Jane Shepard and Ashley.

OH.  Now, I see it.  Okay, I get that.  I personally don't see that it's a big deal, but, yes, I can see that her proportions were definitely altered to make her curvier in ME3.

I just don't think it's very reasonable to call an hourglass figure "hyper sexualized."

We're complaining about curves now? C'mon guys, this is ridiculous.

At this rate every female character with a stereotypically attractive trait is going to listed as being sexualized. It's best just to nip this in the bud now before we have people complaining about Kahlee Sanders being sexualized because she has blonde hair.

A lack of an hourglass figure is what would be concerning.

Here's all three side by side for comparison. I think it's funny because ME3 kinda went back to her original design where she had a thinner waist. Her hips, at least to me, look wider in ME3 because of the belt she's wearing not because of her hips actually being bigger. So, no, I don't think Tali is "hyper-sexualized" in ME2 and ME3 unless you're willing to count ME1 in there, too. And if you're going to do that, then you need to count the every female quarian because they all dress the same.

She's indeed not "hyper-sexualized", she's dressed modestly and appropriately, as any good woman ought to be(whether human or not).

In my experience, most of the women in the military (who aren't just looking for a husband), tend to be rather "butch" and not be into "The D."

Same with women in law enforcement or emergency medical services.

In short, most of them don't look anything like Ashley.......

Well I am in the Army and your sterotype is not true. Maybe back in the 70s and 80s that might have been true, but when the women I serve with get out of their uniform, let their hair down, and dress up, they look like any other female.

Nothing extreme about that. Fortunately, unlike some female companions in the sequels, my femshep never wore skimpy catsuits with heels or went topless with a nipple strap. Although, the dress she wore in kasumi's LM and the one from ME3 were a tad bid too revealing for my tastes. All in all, femshep's handling was satisfactory in that area.

Funny how the alternate appearance armor is somehow more "hyper-sexualized" despite looking more like armor than the regular one in the game. I like the one with the metallic hood patch and armored torso the most.

People seem to be conflating the terms "sexy" and "sexualized." Which is honestly an easy mistake to make if all you see are the extremes of an argument.

I understand the point being made about Tali's changes in that it wasn't necessary to further exaggerate her hip-waist ratio. She already looked perfectly feminine.

That said, I agree with those above. I don't believe this counts as sexualization. Sexy? Yes. Being sexy is fine. Being modest is fine. Being anywhere in between is fine. Sexualization has less to do with how someone looks as how it's presented. Miranda in a catsuit? Sexy. Miranda's catsuited wedgie taking up half the screen in every conversation? Sexualization.

EDIT: Or at least, that's how I understand it. I may be wrong.

EDIT2: Because I want to make clear, someone fully clothed can be sexualized just as easily as someone wearing less. It works both ways. It's just that it's clothes + context (and in media, things like pose, camera angle, etc.), not clothes by themselves. To go swimming you should be able to wear a swimsuit without being accused of immodesty. Likewise, it's a terrible idea to go into a combat situation in high heels.

Just wait until we peel them out of that uniform in ME4 and they will be a purple skinned, squiggle lined version of this lady

I found Miranda's catsuit sexualization because it didn't even fit her character as was presented. (Same with Samara.) ME2 Presented Miranda as a severe, blunt, practical woman who would as soon as shoot someone to get the job done. She didn't try to charm Shepard. She was not manipulative, she was not subtle, first words out her mouth are a threats towards Shep. Nothing about Miranda fits a femme fatal character that they tried to claim she was.

Jack's outfit was fitting. (Except the strap. The strap was dumb).

Jacob's wasn't really. (His was just dumb. But it at least had the decency not to be shoved in our face via camera angles constantly so there was that).

Sexy outfits can work when they fit the character and situation. They didn't do either with Mrianda.

It can be said that a modest and finely dressed lass can get me to "hunger" like a half-starved cannibal, yes, and i do "chow down" as it were, but not quite in *that* fashion.

Jacob's outfit looked like some.... weird sports uniform to me. That and him with his brooding dullard persona meant that I never used him beyond his the missions where he was required. I still don't see what the point of his character was supposed to be, other than to be femshep's space mandingo.
