Contrary to popular BSN belief, there are loads of women that would rather play as a traditionally feminine, attractive character than the female equivalent of a male. It's a small subset of incredibly vocal, self victimizing fans that think women in games should be portrayed in a "realistic" way.

Agh this needs a source badly. Also nice shade there.

It's a small subset of incredibly vocal, self victimizing fans that think women in games should be portrayed in a "realistic" way. Thinking devs should strive for mediocrity. To do that you would have to change the way a lot of guy's minds work, and that just isn't going to happen.

Contrary to some individual's beliefs, there are loads of women - and men - who realize that physical strength, fitness, muscular development, and overall athletic training do not belong to any one sex or gender.

It needs no more source than people saying women don't want to play as sexualised characters. It's anecdotal evidence, just like everyone else's in this thread. Especially when those same people are still arguing over what sexualisation actually is. The only thing I've "learned" in this thread is only women can be sexualised and that men are responsible for both men and women's body dysmorphia.

I never said that they are. The point is, men generally don't find those kinds of women to be attractive, whereas women generally DO find those kinds of men to be attractive. You just aren't going to see female characters being designed that way unless we see more women involved in those aspects of character design.

LoL! The alternate model further hyper-exaggerating her hip-waist ratio in a way that is an idealized version for a human male (see Disney Princess waist that is a dangerous trend now among young women as well as the thigh gap) as opposed to something more alien looking like an insectoid-look with the turian waist and hips have is over-sexualizing her body shape for the male player and it is just with that one outfit. She is cinched further than she was in ME1 and in ME1 she was smaller waisted than ME2, which as I took was her youth and slenderness. The photoshop supermodel face was even more intended to make her sexy as opposed to plausibly alien, for example more insectoid like turians. Don't worry in ME4 we will have all quarians look like this and this when we get those snug uniforms off Fffff-a-p-p-O-N!

Here is an example of dangerous trends!

You really created an account just to make obsessive ranting shitposts like this?

Show us where the quarian touched you. You can utilize the measuring stick you use to measure quarian hips as a pointer.

You clearly aren't reading very closely to make those statements.

No offense, but something tells me that I have a better grasp of them than you. Besides, I just remembered, i'm supposed to be ignoring you since you outright lied about me in another thread.

I've noticed that I only ever really hear men make this argument. Even women who are attracted to those aspects tend to characterize themselves as liking something outside the norm.

What? The Quarians always looked very human. This was established in one of the books before ME2 came out where a character looks at a male Quarian.

I find it funny how he/she/it wants Quarians to be insectoid. Apparently he/she/it doesn't knows that Rannoch is devoid of insect life.

I can't even believe i'm having this conversation, just look at any male sex symbol! Almost all of them are in great shape physically. There's a reason people who become sex symbols despite not having those qualities are seen as niche, and are placed in various "weird crush" lists. Guys like David Beckham, Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman are the norm in this regard They all regularly grace the covers of magazines aimed at women. Guys like Jack Black and Jay Baruchel aren't.

What do you mean by "it". Is that you go to word for those who are in between genders or transgender? In that case, yes, I am an "IT"!

Better grasp to say what women like to play as? Alright mister.

And no, no lies. You don't just want things cleared up so nth I can do for that.

Apparently, it's somebody's - game devs, I suppose - idea of a power fantasy, where male power is rooted in raw physical strength and female power in sex appeal.

Linda Hamilton did the Terminator II gig way back in 1991 - and we still don't see many athletic women in videogames.

I haven't read every post in this thread, nor do I intend to, but coming from the last page and reading the current argument, I will say this:

I once randomly ran into a study posted on the boy types of men that women find attractive, vs the body types of men that men think women find attractive. Suffice to say, the results were usually very different.

The men surveyed tended to think that the men that were more muscular and had less body fat were the ones that women would go for, yet that wasn't really the case.

Here's the link if anyone is interested:

What's even funnier is when I read the comment on a male bodybuilding forum. The level of butthurt was...asstronimocal.

Yes because being in great shape =/= bodybuilder. That survey backs up exactly what i've been saying for the last page.

Men and women like essentially the exact same things in the opposing partner, neither excessively muscular-large/thin-frail or anything, just kinda like... normal.

No, because transgenders fall in the he/she category. "It" is something I've gotten used to say on the internet since God knows when, since you have no idea who the hell is behind that monitor. Could be an alien, or an AI, or a group of people, or a demon.... It could be anything. Don't put words in my mouth.

That would go in same lines as I have observed. Girls in general seem to like men who are fit and have some muscles.. but are still lean and not too muscular. I'm pretty sure that Fenris is more attractive to female players than Vega in terms of body type. Personally I find Dorian's body type most attractive to myself and that's far from "sexualised" muscular male body that some posters are talking about.

And on the opposite spectrum is what men find attractive in women and it's not slender or athletic. So I doubt athletic shapes will be available to those of us who want it for our MC.

Either. I'm saying that guys who are lean, in shape and toned are considered to be more attractive than guys who are out of shape. Chubby guys and skinny guys usually aren't considered to be sexy. That survey that was posted should give you a pretty good idea of what i'm talking about.
