SJWs having ruined Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but they do have Bioware gripped by their fingers. As long as they don't "spread" to other companies like RockStar Games or CDPR then I am fine. There is nothing wrong with Bioware being the "go to" developer for SJW demands cause at the end of the day, I still have Witcher 3 and GTA5 if I ever want to fix my "masculine gaming perspective" needs.
 
It is sort of like going to Taco Bell and still being able to order Fire sauce. It might be too hot for some people, which is why they have Hot/Mild sauce options. But when I goto Taco Bell and I no longer have the option for Fire sauce because people think it is too hot, then that is when things get crazy.
 
So again, I can accept that Bioware has unofficially become the beacon for SJW demands such as the portrayal of women and other topics. Thats fine because I can still count on CDPR and Rockstar Games to counter that with their games that are come influenced by what the politically correct crowd deems necessary in a videogame.

Also GoW has vastly better gameplay than ME. It took BioWare 3 games before they finally got their third-person shooter mechanics right, and even then it felt more clunky than GoW.

 

Embarrassing how bad a shooter ME1-3 were knowing they came from Unreal Engine.

I say SJW and you say strawmen I can say that you call my opinions strawman because it goes against your opinion, its just a continuous cycle of an unmovable object meeting an unstoppable force. Say what you want but many SJWs are drawn to Bioware for various reasons. They may not be in this thread but they are part of the BSN and the larger Bioware demographic.

Sex sells. I wonder how many copies of ME2 were sold by Miranda's ass alone. It's really best not to think about these things as it is kind of disturbing but it is what it is. I would play ME regardless, it would be very hard for them to make a ME game I wouldn't buy eventually but I don't see the need to take away things from of series. I would prefer to see them add things to it.

If it was sex selling these games then why do Halo and Gears of War outsell Mass Effect many times over?

Since guys are as sexualized and put through hell as any female character in games I'd rather they continue doing what they're doing. For every Miranda there was a James Vega with his rippling Krogan-like body type, and a Jacob whom Shepard couldn't talk to without sounding like a hore after his BBC. Seriously his suit is as skin tight as Miranda's.

 

It's all been treated as equally as any other series, people just don't want to see it.

At least James only ran around shirtless or in a T-Shirt while off duty.  Not in a gunfight

I'm not calling you specifally a SJW, just saying that the type of crowd that Bioware has recently attracted are that of the SJW group. Not saying that if you are a Bioware fan then you are a SJW, cause that would make me a SJW and I am FAR from that. I am just saying that in comparison to other AAA developers, Bioware tends to be more sensitive to SJW issues in a way that developers like Rockstar Games is not.

It was more along the likes of Deus Ex than an action shooter. Just like Dragon Age isn't a fighting game because you engage in melee combat. Different genres and focuses.

 

Focus? What part of "90% of the time you spend shooting" did you not understand? Seems like shooting is very much the focus in Mass Effect, even ME1.

Deus Ex is a completely different beast, where you can basically beat the game without firing a single shot (and it's actually encouraged to play that way). How you can compare ME to DE is beyond me.

The lazarus project made 100%. I mean it can even be done with today's technology! And even if it couldnt, the game explained it so well and also really took it into account throughout the rest of the trilogy! Best thing to happen to ME

No, SJW has a pretty solid definition. This isn't an SJW thread though, legitimate SJWs are unmistakable, with no ambiguity. It will be an SJW thread as soon as OP asks for the protagonist to be a morbidly obese transracial lesbian, since in the eyes of an SJW, the less "privileged" a character or person is, the better they are.

 

When the OP asks Bioware to patch out all the white characters in a game, you'll know it's an SJW thread, or when the OP asks Bioware to make every main character a woman (and remove any explicit or implicit mentions or implications of sex, because sex is automatically evil and objectifying when it comes to women, to an SJW).

Action shooters are more popular than action RPGs? It's probably the reason ME has evolved more towards an action shooter with each iteration. Anyway Halo and Gears barely had any women in them at all and that was something added in latter iterations, except Cortana who was sexuallized. ME has always been a more character driven game and NPC focused than these games.

 

Kat, Miranda Keyes, Doctor Halsey, Silva, Linda, Kelly, Tanaka, Vale, Palmer, Veronica Dare, several female marines, etc.

 

Right, aside from Cortana, no female characters in halo.
