These have to be in game currency prices, no way anyone is paying 275 dollars or 12,000 pounds for digital ship or robot in a game, unless you get a physical replica made of gold.

What games are these?

Mechwarrior online and Star Citizen. And yes they do in fact use real world currency as well as in game currency. Those $500 Mechs were special edition golden skinned mechs( lol ) and yes they do cost $500 in real world currency.

Edited: I feel I should clarify something. Those golden mechs are not collectable statues, but a in game mech, lol no joke.

Luke Smith is kind of a douche, and it's well documented,

Does this mean that The Taken King won't be worth buying? No, that's not what people should take away from this bad bit of PR.

Actually that's precisely what we should take away from this... although we've known Destiny was a pile of **** for a while now, so as TDB and HoW have also been largely crap repetitive grindfests, who wants to bet that TTK will be par for the course in keeping with Destiny's abysmal standards?

Frankly Destiny might as well be a proverbial fist ****** based on how it's carried itself.

Yeah, you pay more for the hardware on PC, but you don't have to pay to play online and the games are usually cheaper and go on sale more often. Console gamers have to pay for the hardware, pay top dollar for games that rarely ever go on sale, pay for overpriced proprietary hardware like controllers and larger hard drives, and have to put up with ridiculous prices on DLC.

I never understood this "pay to play online" argument as if that's not inherent to everyone. Like PC gamers don't have to pay for their internet.

Star Citizen is a different case though as it's still in developement and going purely by crowdfunding.

Those game pledges are essentionally the same as kickstarter. The more you fund the game, the more you get. You can get all those ships by normal play in the game (except a couple special versions and I think two limited offer ships).

Bloody hell, how in the world do they justify those prices? Especially a game like Star Citizen which was largely funded by the goodwill of the gaming community only for them to turn around and charge them an arm and a leg for ships? This isn't even nickel and diming, this is asking for your userbase to hand over all their gold and platinum.

Except that PC gamers only pay for their internet, console gamers pay for their internet AND the privilige to use said internet for online features on the consoles (which they likewise already bought).

It's like paying for the gas you fill in your car and then paying extra so you can go and use the gas you already paid for.

Hold your horses.

A 55 bucks pledge gets you instant access to a starter ship, the game, beta access for the game, ingame currency and other little tidbits. You can get all those ships ingame save for a very limited number of unique ships (two I believe) that were only available for early Kickstarter backers and a handful of special versions of ships whose other variants you have access to ingame otherwise.

Yeah, Piranha Games has yet to implement all the game modes and features they were supposed to have like a year ago.

Kay.

That's okay, your apology is accepted. We all make mistakes even glaringly obvious ones like thinking Destiny is vaguely worth the money they're charging, except me; I don't make mistakes.  It's good that you've seen the light and thrown yourself at my feet to beg forgiveness for your transgressions.

Unnecessary explanation of the console infrastructure aside, at the end of the day, playing online comes with a cost for everyone.

If you think the difference is irrelevant, then whatever. Be happy and pay.

I think I made up for the XBL subscription price ($60) just for last year's Gold games.

This is a small list of what I liked.

Sleeping Dogs
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Dead Island
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
Saints Row: The Third
Dark Souls
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

This was the stupidest interview I've ever seen. Not because the questions asked. But because this guy is a total ******. And he's not even defending a good game. Destiny was complete crap. Traded it on 2 days after I bought it.

I didn't say it was irrelevant. And I don't even play games on consoles that require it anyway.

You said the explanation is unecessary as if it would make no difference.

However X + Y =/= X begs to differ.

Except I said it was unnecessary because you're telling me something I already know. I kind of, sort of, hate that s**t

With shoe rental, the cost of a few games, some food and some beer? Pretty close. With a date/girlfriend/wife? Definitely.

People have this perception of games as being ungodly expensive. Except they usually cost less than a dinner date with some drinks at Applebee's.

I suppose it just highlights the difference between you and me then. Fair enough.

I hope that's sarcasm.

It appeared you didn't exactly know the ramifications of it. Because even whilst it's true that everyone who doesn't get free internet obviously pays for online features, using a console with their subscription model means you plain pay more. So your conclusion that the point isn't a viable argument is incorrect as there is a fundamental difference.

That's why I explained it. If you take offense at me doing that, then go ahead. See if I care.
