Dude, we're on a ship. Don't be blind to the possibilities.

Let's have a lover at port to come home to. Or an affair with before we sail off at dawn. Or both, in different ports.

Maybe in the Ark, if the theory is correct :P?

I'm going to admit- I'm actually totally okay with the Ark Theory, and I actually hope it's more or less 'home' as we look for a home.

I have a vision- whimsical and silly as it may be- that MEA is about trying to find and claim a new 'home' for the inhabitants of the Arc. Multiple homes, most likely, depending on who's actually onboard, but I see the 'exploration' factor of MEA being in terms of 'finding a place to call our own.'

I can see the Ark as the moving Citadel for a Migrant Fleet style of exodux. There's more than one ship, flying beside or drifting near, but the Ark is home base. And while small colonies may be started, the Ark will keep moving until it finds the Right One- and that search is continuing for whatever reasons we have in the new political context.

I'm hoping that this "Ark" is like Elysium, basically a Citadel 2: Haul Ass Outta the Milkyway Bugaloo.

And hopefully with enough Ryncol to keep everyone smashed the entire way there.

It'd be like Citadel DLC all day, every day, for however long it takes.

Personally I'd rather see more squadmates.  I'd like to jump from 2 to 3 like DA, but I don't think that's going to happen.

It was always a shame in ME2 that there were so many interesting characters, but many of them I never took on a single mission (outside their loyalty mission) because space was so limited.

As for the answer to how many companions?  As many as they can do and still make them good.  DAI had a number of incomplete or unfinished companions.  I'd rather they had been cut.

How many companions in you want this time around?

ME:1 6 permanent (  ) Companions

ME:2 12 permanent companions (2 of which were DLC)

ME:3 7 permanent companions (1 of which was DLC)

All of the Mass effect games had two companions with you in combat by default.

Companions have always been one of the defining elements in Bioware's games. How many would you like this time around? How many would you like available after launch? How many would you like to take with you into combat?

Thoughts/Comments?

Well, how many?

Well, enough so that every race (in both genders (unless there's a race with more genders or only one, like the Asari)) can be represented on the crew (!)...I've always wanted to have a female Turian on the team (no, Omega DLC does not count because she's only for the DLC and because I don't have that...didn't want to sink more money into the train wreck that ME3 is IMHO!) or a female Salarian (she might be your spymaster - like Leliana in DA:I...just that she can go on missions with you!) or even a female Krogan (this time with full textures please and not just a fully clothed male model!)

Add to that the new races...:) (you get the picture I think)

greetings LAX

ps: More importantly: I'd love some shady characters on the team - I mean yes, Thane was an assassin, but he was still kind of a goody two-shoes -.- (not that I didn't like Thane, I would just love to have a character that's not a hero (without being impolite or anything...more like a refined highly intelligent criminal...a bit like Kasumy, but with more of a killer instinct and a refined taste (food, special weapons etc.)) - from criminals to spies who do whatever it takes (like Mordin - but with a less bubbly personality...maybe a bit like Aria!)

Well, in general, I'd like it if the background of the characters was expanded upon (and more interesting...come on, Leliana could have a dark secret past as a mercenary (she's over a 100 years old, don't tell me she didn't have the time...even if she only stayed in the business for a decade for example -.-) etc. etc.)...:)

non gendered makes me think of Knights of Sidiona, where there is a third gender and that person gets to choose swinging to male or female.

Yeah I wish it was possible to have a 4 person team in Mass Effect. I'm not sure how the game would have to be balanced out to account for that extra companion, but I can't say that I even care. The more the merrier, I always say.  ME2 would've definitely benefited from the extra slot. Thane and Samara might have gone out more in my playthroughs.

8-10 permanent would be nice.

+ 20-30 as DLCs until ME:A 2 is out 2020, if they are as well made as Zaeeds DLC.

Yea, I would also go with something around 8, I think.

Not sure if 20-30 was serious but I would go for 1-2 DLC ones max (if any, I'd actually prefer no DLC companions). The reason is this: If you want to add DLC companoins to the game after the fact, you have to limit their interactivity within the game (banter, comments during conversations, etc.). Otherwise, those companions will have to be integrated into the game before release. That is what happened with Zaeed, Kasumi and Javik, all of them were already in the game before release, the DLC's just activated them and added their specific missions to the game. I wouldn't want them to limit the amount of interactivity with squad mates in order to make the game more compatible with DLC companions. Rather make DLC missions and concentrate on the core team.

It was half-way-serious... and then again not.. for the reasons you wrote there.

Zaeed works extremly well because of his rough-mercenary-style.

Kasumi doesn't disturbs much because she is quite shy and in carmouflage most of the time.

Yea, every DLC-Companion is also a problem, sad but true.

Ok, forget that DLC-Companions, lets say 16 permanent from the start are enough...

But 8-10 are realistic, i guess.

I don't want half-dead-dummys like Treek in SWTOR.

I am absolut with you on the DLC-Missions.

Tons of it.

If well made, a DLC is a good thing. I hate them  in most games, too, because it is nothing but a insolent and lazy money-grab most of the time.

But in that case i wasn't disappointet from DA:O as well as ME, that cost-benefit ratio was allright for me.

PS: If this setting is well made, they have all possibilities to turn DLCs on this franchise to something new and big.

No need for a complete new game that takes 3-4 years of development. No need for ME:A 2 2020.

Just let a team working on new stuff all the time and release a new star-system or star-cluster with a few new planets every 6-12 months that continues the story.

So many potential in this setting... if they don't **** it up ...

I'd love to have a squad member like Javik. It's too bad that Javik himself was hamstrung by being a day 1 DLC character.

5-6. I'm in favor of a smaller but more intimate crew. It seems with the larger casts only 2-3 characters really get more air time (and playability depending on their class) while the others take space on the ship.

As long as there's your defacto lead male and female human (Kaidan/Jacob and Ash/Miranda) and at least one asari (favorite race) I'm good.

If the combat system follows the ME1-3 series, then 6 would be just nice. 1 for each type of class. It ensures that you're covered for all possibilities. More than 6 is ok as long as they are properly fleshed out and interesting. There were a number of similar type characters in ME2 that I simply never took along cos their counterparts were way more interesting.

Over 9000!

Or, you know, a team of 5-9.  Whichever is more feasible.

Only 1 per class is enough.
Maybe a system on which you can recruit and desmiss(and maybe re-recruit) characters. But only 1 per class. MassEffect2 had so many characters that was very hard to spend time with them.
