I prefer to platinum myself.

I pretty much only play gold when I have friends playing who want to play gold, as I don't mind playing gold with friends who want a more laid-back game.

Also, sometimes it's really hard to find a plat lobby.  It's been especially hard to find and stay in plat lobbies as I have been playing on my alt-account which is still pretty low-level.  So people either kick me or leave the lobby when I show up... it hurts my feelings actually :(

And as far as PUG gold lobbies go, sometimes if there is too much experience in the lobby, or REALLY strong characters, it's just a big roffle-stomp of the enemy and it's a bit too easy.  This can happen on Plat with the right people too, but it's just less likely to happen, especially in a pub.

Why? I don't really know.

Do I want to torture myself for some reason?

I think it's really poorly implemented as far as the game.

Suddenly dead with no healthgate or warning?

Want to battle triple Primes? WTF for?

To have multiple phantoms with absurb damage reduction and high health pools?

Have multiple Banshees with their BS magnet hands?

Crapper's thread makes me question why I put myself through this BS

Babies complain about a lot on this board but Platinum's BS is somewhat contrived and ludicrous.

I don't really like Platinum, but then again, I do mostly PUGs, and it's rare that a PUG lobby is good enough to do Platinum well.  Platinum is OK with a good group, I guess.  Gold can get a little boring if everyone is really good.  But Gold lets me play with a bunch of different setups that would get stomped in Platinum.

I played Platinum with PUGS once.
Don't recall it being enjoyful though.
Think mostly they camped the extraction zone on giant which is kinda annoying.
People need to stop camping.
Get out there and explore the maps and spawn points.
This is getting out of control, people. A
Thread should be made to enlighten these players.

Plat pubbing is the way to go.

"It's like a box of chocolates..." Do I even need to finish the rest of that sentence?

Thank you, all, for your input, feedback, and overall

goodness!  These different perspectives gave me

the input I needed.  I played a little Plat and actually had a

goddamn good time!  It felt like catching the golden

snitch in Harry Potter, it was so exhilarating!  I guess it

is possible to find new ways to enjoy the game, and

also challenge yourself.

Pretty fun.  :)  I no longer would prefer to

retar a roof,  like in Shawshank Redemption, until I was

dead.

I see you have gotten lot's of good input already Jack.

Think about all the new possibilities that now will open up for you in

the months to come as you start to get more and more into platinum. Don't listen when people call you a

moron due to wasting to much of your life on this game.

Still, there might be times when you start to doubt your skills, that doubt

lives in all of us and we feel it from time to time, but

with experience you will also gain confidence - so hang in there!

The first time I played Platinum I got a phone call from my

parents and I had to quit the game, that was a tough one

and I didn't want to jump straight back into platinum after, so I decided to go back to gold. There

are times when I look back at it and laugh at my inexperience at that Point in time.

Still, it's not a bad thing to be humble from time to time.

A wise man once told me that "Son when you feel hungry"

Virgin Oil is great for cooking, so remember that as you need to pause and eat now and then.

So...the poem thing... Why?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that when I post from a phone, it

can sometimes result in some really weird-looking formatting. It's

not something that I've been able to figure out how to fix, though I

believe that I saw something about phone hackers working on a way to fix

this on some phones. Something about having to use one OS to

channel another one, or something like that? I dunno, my wife

is the one in our family who deals with all the technical stuff. But until somebody figures out that fix, some of us will

still end up accidentally making these posts that look all goofy, like we're prepping material for an

open mic night at the local beatnik coffeehouse.

Seriously, please don't hassle people posting from their phones. :)

Ladies and gentleman,

On topic...

Love platinum!

I must say though,

Almost every time I play, I

feel that there are too many

bad PUGs in the game.

But that's okay,
I still carry them so they

don't feel the need to rocket glitch.

Cool.  I didn't know you could get lost, since your

story starts from the future.  Also, fyi, my

bro was totally obsessed with that series.

lol, back on topic.  Plat is fun now!  I think friends definitely make a difference.

Duh, obvious, right?

About all I ever do is pug platinum. It's a challenge usually and can be a little stressful keeping pugs alive until extraction. Builds totally depend on your play style and teammates although most infiltrators will work as stand alones. as will most flamers, and certain biotics are pretty easy like the Justicar, and human adept (ex cerb and vanilla), not to imply that other builds don't work of course.

Where is a good home for the Saber on Platinum?

Is the Turian soldier the best home for this bad boy?

B) I think I can headshot well with it, even without an aim

dorkbot's assistance.

Off to play a game and find out.  If it's too tough, I'll

switch back to Gold.

This combo is maybe my favorite to play.  It

is good for any difficulty, it seems!  Truly a bad-ass,

ridiculous, borderline OP combo!

Help me play something else even more fun to play!

I like to play platinum just because IMO it's a fun challenge to see if I'm able to play that kit comfortably without feeling restricted to feeling as if the kit I'm playing is only viable on gold and not on platinum.

Platinum is annoying. Also, 99% of the players playing it don't belong there.

It is just the annoyance of carrying pugs at this point.

Looks like there is no end in sight to this horror,

like this crap will go on forever.

You likely are better off just duoing with a friend than getting a full lobby.

Are some people content just with being miserable leaches?

Correct thing to do would be require some sort of minimum level before you could play Plat.

In doing that you would assure that you at least had players able to contribute.

Assuming that you didn't get someone that was a experienced leecher.

Most people of a high challenge point score would at least be committed to the game.

Of that pool, you would be more likely to get better matches.

The current state of most Plat pugs are most matches have at least one leach or player that has no business playing Plat.

Mods that give us three NPCs would be preferable to the pugs

received by normal matchmaking.

A change is needed when most pugs play like they just received a

lobotomy recently.

When you get the same crap over and over you would think

they (Bioware) would address the issue.

Were they asleep at the wheel when the designed this difficulty?

Neutered loadouts and builds make experienced players suffer.

I love carrying pugs on platinum. Too bad I never get rooms where I can do that anymore.
