For me it is for the credits, and it is because there are several kits (the ones I've mastered the best) that make Gold trivial. Meaning boring. Meaning unenjoyable. Platinum, on the other hand, is whole new challenge.

I love carrying pugs on platinum. Too bad I never get rooms where I can do that anymore.

You should invite me when you run out of noobs, LOL.

I'm trying to remember to adjust when I do play it.

Truly, well-timed staggers help.

Stunned enemies are easier to finish off.

It makes enough of a difference.

Lives can be saved by a good stagger.

Me, I'm getting the hang of it

too, I think.  It's fun, yet challenging.

It's for when the lobby is too OP for gold. Otherwise it's the poor gold pug life for us. The poorer the pugs, the more interesting. No so for Platinum, where it helps to have one other competent player around if pugging.

^^^ This. When you get a lot of good players in a lobby Gold seems like a cakewalk. That's when Platinum comes in and provides enough enemies and difficulty so that the game is more enjoyable for everyone. Otherwise it would be Gold for most players.

Personally I think there should have been a level between Gold and Platinum. Maybe a level that doesn't really mix up the enemies the way platinum does but brings more of the same enemies or changes their patterns and group numbers, strength, with different objectives not available in Gold, etc.

People need to stop camping.
Get out there and explore the maps and spawn points.

I like how all those 2 things that I do in platinum, got me a hate message at one point when this one guy hated that I was lone wolfing while everyone camped the ever loving **** out of giant.

I like Plat, but i will only play it with friends or if the lobby itself looks capable. I will never quick game Plat tho.....I don't really camp unless the situation calls for it...as in if you are running around the map and you are getting hit from multiple angles, i will try to find a spot to regroup. Running around like a maniac trying to avoid getting hit instead of killing things will only end with you getting synced by somebody or running into a turret that will rip you to shreds...

I don't understand how gold keeps good players interested. Never have. Something about perfecting the craft maybe?

I like platinum randomizer pug games. Failure is always an option.

I suppose framerate has something to do with it.

It very well might. Though don't superior controls compensate? :P

(And I do enjoy PC gold though, when I have someone carrying me. ;))

I find Platinum fun.

I am not sure why people call it boss spam; for most waves, it is 2 bosses and 6 non-bosses (unless you consider phantoms and such bosses).  It is nice to have as few I-have-a-gun-and-nothing-else enemies on the map as possible.  Every wave on Platinum feels like it has its own identity, while Gold waves just blend together to me.

Collectors on Platinum is definitely boss spam by the end though.

I've probably played more solo platinum than BSN team platinum. Can't ****** stand the boss spam and diluted headshot units and most of my favourite classes are best against humanoids, but at least in solo i can kill all the mooks myself until the wave budget runs out. I also don't like Gold with more than 1 BSNer.

I generally drink in those occasions because if I don't remember it did it really happen?

Gold keeps good players interested because they don't go full out OP and always look for the worst pug lobbies possible. Keeping these pugs alive to avoid any soloing and to make sure everyone see's full payday and extraction is always a challenge. Basically a good babysitting gig.

Good babysitting is hard to find these days though.

Players would likely turn the game off these days to just,

avoid the hassle of playing with bad pugs.

You might be more charitable than players

like myself and others that have long hours into this game.

The annoying leeches and the one kit playing pugs with no equipment

plague this game and at this late in the game no one enjoys carrying

because they've been there and done that before.

When this game was newer I never minded the hassle.

You might have different opinion but

speak to me now though and it depends on my mood entirely at the time.

There are still good pugs that learn and demonstrate they have heart and a

brain. (They'll put on equipment and everything)

Commit to the game and learn and I don't mind the longer matches but leach off me and I'll

suicide and laugh as the team fails.

******Is it just me or is other people's formatting messing up like mine

The real problem was BioWare making kits, powers and weapons more and more OP with each DLC release. And they really didn't know what to do with Platinum, since no BioWare dev plays past Silver difficulty.
