Good babysitting is hard to find these days though.

Players would likely turn the game off these days to just,

avoid the hassle of playing with bad pugs.

You might be more charitable than players

like myself and others that have long hours into this game.

The annoying leeches and the one kit playing pugs with no equipment

plague this game and at this late in the game no one enjoys carrying

because they've been there and done that before.

When this game was newer I never minded the hassle.

You might have different opinion but

speak to me now though and it depends on my mood entirely at the time.

There are still good pugs that learn and demonstrate they have heart and a

brain. (They'll put on equipment and everything)

Commit to the game and learn and I don't mind the longer matches but leach off me and I'll

suicide and laugh as the team fails.

******Is it just me or is other people's formatting messing up like mine

I get what everyone's saying, but I

still have reservations.  Maybe I won't

blame a PUG for sucking, but sometimes,

his intent is to leech, and I don't want to play

father protector for him all match.  It's easy

for some of you, but I have to admit that it's

not for me.

Pulling my weight is easy enough, I found

out, but carrying, maybe not so much.

*** my formatting is fine, I think.

The real problem was BioWare making kits, powers and weapons more and more OP with each DLC release. And they really didn't know what to do with Platinum, since no BioWare dev plays past Silver difficulty.

Bro jo plays gold and plat sometimes.

Shut the reactor door on some pugs one time.

The majority of devs are comfortable on silver though.

"**** balance for gold and plat, We talking bout silver." Lol.

Up to me I would balance for the difficulty that actually needs balance.

For me carrying pugs on plat was never a burden. I actually enjoyed it personally. I guess since I soloed so much I didn't see pugging as anything different than just another solo but with decoys to help with aggro.

They should always balance top down. But you need testers that can do it reliably. Not sure their in house crew is always up to that task.

You would think that that wouldn't be the case, at least, it

shouldn't have been.  I believe developers should at least

have the proper means & skill to test updates.  Things would've

been much different then.  At least there was never really

anything game-breakingly wrong after introducing Plat.

More often, I've seen terrible bugs arise, making things worse

than before any update.

A solid commendation is what Bioware deserves, rather than a

stain on their history, which is how people portray it often

on the BSN.

The truth is, they made a great game with great support.  I have

bed sheets and clothing that show my support.  Asari bed

sheet is the best, btw.  Mmmmm

We need to focus as a community on balance. Focus on one or two things per week and get them attention to get them fixed. Vote on what needs attention, compile the reasons, perhaps even document some video to show why it's broken. If the community focuses on one or two things a week I think the devs would at the very least look into those concerns.

85% of the people playing Platinum can't handle Wave 3 Gold. I stopped playing Platinum a very long time ago. Boss spam for me isnt fun. Right now if you go PUG Platinum more than 70% will be glitchers or Rio shamers. Pugz seem to really be into having a Juggy hold everything in Giants LZ the entire match... no fun to be had there. Gold is enjoyable to me cuz even if the other players aren't that good or experienced and I might have to carry a little..it doesnt feel back breaking.

They looked at stats last time IIRC. Along with their in house team. If they're really serious they should dump another demo in our laps and take feedback from players before Gold release. Would probably still get ongoing changes but it would probably be closer to an actual useful configuration.

I'd love to get an early crack at it but even if I didn't I think people like Cyonan, peddro, corlist, Dunvi, etc should get an early crack at it. The issue is those people are going to find problems and I'm sure that Bioware doesn't want that prior to release. They would rather fix the issues on the fly after the masses have purchased the game than be forced to fix the issues prior to release.

Or f up your objective waves.

They were very good at distracting enemies so devices, pizza and targets were easy and could do them alone. Hacks and escorts were another matter entirely :/

This thread :)

Is there a better thread on BSN right now.

Like here, like there, my like cup over flowth

A veritable likapoloosa

Good posts everywhere

Ho!!! What fun.

It doesn't have to end, we just

can't go off topic and mess this up.

Last thing we need is a mod wrecking a perfect thread. This may not last

forever and I know eventually the fun must end.

But you people must understand this thread is art

at it's best and art even in it's

least form is not something to be fucked with

You're seeing the finest minds of BSN spin their tales

getting to the creative core of the best and worst of us.

Your time is here BSN!!! Answer the bell.

Money's not as important in life as art and what you're seeing is

worth as much as anything ever constructed on BSN.

Devices could also be tricky if it happened on the earlier waves and pugs still had consumables to burn. Or they join on wave 10 for an escort and decide not to use anything, think I posted a game like that once. 40 minute or so game, wave 10 wipe in about 15 seconds. Good times.

Still love the pugs, though.

Like the PS3 Collector issue BioWare even denied it exists despite video evidence? Yeah. No. Get someone to do the job right in the first place. It's their jobs, not mine. I'm only here to complain.

We can all agree, I think, that we are having fun.  There

are good PUGs, which lead to shameful defeats, but

victorious games with PUGs always feel fantastic.

Less than a week ago, I enjoyed shining shoes more

than playing Platinum, but with your help, it's gained

50 fun points in my book, and the game actually feels

new again.  In fact, I'd even say that I enjoy it to a rather

sinful degree.  I really appreciate the support these types of

threads receive.  You're all the reason I still post through

today, after so many years.

Hooray!

Celebration!

This makes sense. What

is the problem in admitting that one can't carry
the match alone? Not everyone needs to be the

best of the best. Sometimes people just wanna

fucking chill without coming to bsn and

post something. And that fun can easily be spoiled by the

ever present leechers.

No?

We should all enjoy platinum equally. People just
need more motivation. You can never go wrong with
more right? Anyways I love engaging in these types of
threads. We get to come together as a community and
like one big family and just share our past experience with
this game.

Do you rember the first time we played multiplayer?
It was pretty good games and you weren't so bad yourself

I've probably played more solo platinum than BSN team platinum. Can't ****** stand the boss spam and diluted headshot units and most of my favourite classes are best against humanoids, but at least in solo i can kill all the mooks myself until the wave budget runs out. I also don't like Gold with more than 1 BSNer.

RIP team straya runs complete with d_nought rag gelling before his body hits the floor, Leslie Chan getting sync-killed, cricketer talking ****, Paynezz raging, and The One Who We Don't Talk About.

Yeah, exactly right.  This is why I only play PUG Platinum if it's a situation where I do a couple of Gold games with the same group and they can all handle themselves, and the host ups it to Platinum.

Hi Jack.  Amazingly, your question has such compelled me to create an account on this forum just to provide an answer.  Platinum IMO is what truly distinguishes this game from the field:  Adversity is inevitable at this difficulty (i.e. mistakes will be made), and as such, it truly requires the individual player and the team as a whole to deal with it.  That is the draw for me, and that is what will likely keep me playing this game far into the foreseeable future.  Completing a platinum mission, smoothly or otherwise, brings me a sense of accomplishment, and even some sense of camaraderie among the other players.  In fact, my only friends on PSN are random ME3 platinum players.  Moreover, I feel that there is a mutual respect among those that routinely play platinum, and a common understanding that the players in the game will do everything in their power to succeed.

On all of the other difficulties, team synergy (amenable character/build combos) and collaborative tactics (collectively selecting offensive/defensive positions w/ fallback points) are not required.  On Silver/Bronze, individual tactical proficiency (right hand advantage, power/weapon synergy, hard/soft cover, managing aggro) and decision making/execution (when to revive teammates, approach enemies, run to objectives) are not required.  In other words, on Gold and below you can "Rambo" it without regard for teammates as long as you are individually proficient, and on Silver/Bronze you don't even need the individual proficiency to succeed.

But platinum... ****ing platinum, lol - if either you are not individually proficient, or you do not put the team first, then you (and everyone else on your team for that matter), will pay the consequences in the form of consumables, longer clear time, or mission failure.  That is why platinum is amazing.  God I ****ing love it.

As for PUG advice, well, you just need to keep an eye on the team/map/faction combo as it develops in the lobby and make a determination if there are any shortfalls that will cause problems during the mission.  Platinum basically reduces down to a few fundamental considerations: 1.) Stopping Banshees, 2.) Dealing with phantoms, 3.) DPS required of the map.  The geth trooper (Flamer/Acolyte) effectively addresses all of these things, so I tend to use that if the PUG lobby looks sketchy, meaning that any of the following are true of some players in the lobby: a.) low level or no consumables equipped, b.) really low challenge points, c.) squishy non-infiltrator class without cyclonic or adrenaline mod, d.) class with weak weapons and weak powers, e.) otherwise poor team synergy.

And for 3.) just keep in mind that smaller maps (white, glacier) require short range burst/aoe DPS, thus favoring biotic/tech/fire explosions, which really requires the team to be synergized properly (i.e. four infiltrators with SRs is probably a bad idea), as opposed to larger maps (rio, dagger, hydra, vancouver, london) that are amenable to long range attack.

The best is when those three conditions are satisfied by other players in the lobby, leaving you free to choose the best fit character with respect to the rest of the team.  I think the most fun I ever had in a plat PUG was Firebase White / Cerberus with an all biotic team consisting of Collector Adept (Powers/Acolyte), ExCerb Male Adept (Singularity), Asari Justicar (Damage Bubble), and myself as the Batarian Slasher(Lash-Warp-Grenade Build).  I chose the Slasher for three reasons: 1.) Synergy with other biotics, 2.) Great CC with cluster grenades on small map + no other grenade users, and 3.) Lash destroys phantoms and combat engineers with ease.  Not surprisingly, we cleared that map in 28:00 and only used a few missiles for objective waves.

I have yet to find a more fun and difficult challenge than playing me3 platinum, but if you find one, please let me know!
