But, the leap to a new galaxy and cowboy explorer idea has given me hope. If Bioware can start a fresh and build ME:A around ME1 then it could be stunning. But on past evidence there's also the worry that they'll totally ignore that approach. At least they've acknowledged the need for a fresh start with this move.

See, that's where you and I differ.  I hate cowboys and indians.

That's my biggest fear.  That this game will be cowboys and indians and explore!  And (re)define what it means to be an N7!  'Cause...   Reasons!  Too much interpolation leads to not enough storytelling.  This means that we will be defining the big parts of the story, not BioWare.  This is the biggest downfall of DAI, I think.   We had nonlinear quests on one hand and a somewhat* boring main quest on the other.  Then, we had to figure out how it all made sense.

Add the Halo guy in as the writer...     Yeish.  I dunno though.  I'm in one of my moods where I'm extremely pessimistic.  Hopefully, I'll love the game.

So, at the time of this writing, I'd give it a six.  If I were quantify it.

*  =  The reason that I say somewhat is that I put like 80 hours into the game, tried like hell to pick it back up...   But nothing can make me do it.

Maybe 9. I like to expect less because I do not want to be disappointed.

0.

I don't have any hope anymore when it comes to a Bioware game. Especially after ME2, DA2, ME3 and DAI.

These days, I just  wait for a Bioware game to come out, wait until its dirt cheap and then get it during a sale 1/2 a year or 1 year later or 2 years later.

I'd say probably about 7.  I'm a big ME fan and probably always will be, so naturally I'm pretty excited.  However, what I look for in games has changed since ME1 came out in 2007, and while I enjoyed the vast majority of ME3, they will need to step it up a bit.

So, 7 because I'm excited for new a new Mass Effect, but also realize I shouldn't put my expectations too high...at least not at this point.

10. I've had extremely high hopes for every single Mass Effect game to date.

That doesn't mean I expect it to get anywhere close to that.

Expectation 0. Very few info out there.. I have no idea how they are gonna pull it off by handwiving/scrapping everything in the Milkyway all in the name of a clean slate or Restart/Reboot.

Hope? Probably 2 knowing that they are sticking with their guns with ME3 which is probably the best but continuing the franchise from this point on is literally a nightmare to manage. People are already branding it as a spin off or should have been a new ip.

Will see how it goes

My opinion? Well the game is from Bioware they are trying hard to revive the MassEffect name in order to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving and highly competitve genre of gaming, depends on the individual if they see the mechanics as the ultimate reason why Masseffect is called masseffect. Still expectations 0

10! Because I love Mass Effect!

Yes I've complained about things in every release. Like in all things, some aspects I like, some I don't. But if they remember the games they made more than what other companies do, if they can look past the fireworks and shinies of the hour and honor the franchise they created (which btw doesn't mean "just more of the same"), then the game will gain its place amongst my favourites.
