What is with the perception that the Talon isn't that powerful a character without Cain Mines?

It might have had a part in it.

I think so too. I hear it's human nature to champion what is perceived underdog among the masses and rebel.

The problem with Drell at first is most people played them like dumbasses. Movement speed is their wheelhouse but a lot of people stood around firing like they were soldiers. Venom made them even more easy mode on Plat even, wide AOE stagger, spike damage, and priming.

Real Drell don't use wimpy guns like the Venom. They use guns that go BOOOOOM.

Drell also got a big passive buff. No idea why.

Because people used to dislike them and say that the DrellGod was the weakest kit of all on gold plus.

Of course, they were already fools and should have been got eaten

I'll say.

So the fans had no clue. BioWare had no clue. Nobody had no clue. ... It's a wonder the game is still playable.

Yeah, putting something that is brokenly OP into a game and then just expecting people to not use it is really poor design. Things like that only fly in this game because it is PvE. I've no idea how the Merc even ever got past any sort of playtesting unless they just don't have it. He's not like the GI where you at least have to be able to aim well to truly break the game.

Oh, I forgot, they playtest on Silver. Merc probably isn't any better than most other grenade kits there because everything already dies in one hit from all of them.

Sometimes I don't know about GI. If you use a Javelin on it, then it's definitely a skill-based glass cannon. But if someone slaps the Piranha or Talon on it, it's pure EZ-mode even if their aim isn't good.
