Will you play as M or F?

To me a lot of times they seem more interesting, less cliched' and more emotionally involved. For the longest time I just couldn't get into the Mass Effect series until one day I started up a FemShep character on a whim. I've been hooked ever since.
I just wonder if it will be the same with no Jennifer Hale as the lead in MEA and a different and better VA for the male as well .
I'll probably start up the game as a male just to see what he looks and sounds like but then re-roll a female for my full platythrough.
Which way are you gonna go?

While I felt the same way as you, OP, about playing a femshep in the trilogy, I haven't decided about this new one. I'm thinking I might try to play a male PC primarily for a change of pace.

F always. Well almost always. If the male voice is superrsexy I'll run a space lad.

Male. I generally connect more with male protagonists.

I think there is a strong possibility that I will end up creating a male character for my first playthrough, but I have thought about having my canon playthrough be a female character this time to serve as a counterbalance for my male Shepard.
The same happened in DA. First playthrough in DA:O was with a male warden but ended up with a female CE as canon instead. With the male protagonist taking center stage in DA:I instead.

Female for the first playthrough, but i will try out a male aswell (hmm). In The Mass Effect trilogy i just liked Jennifer Hale's voice better than Mark Meer. She just made Shepard feel more alive. Mark Meer grew on me over time though and in Mass Effect 3 i finally loved him. He was abit flat in the first game, but just got better and better.

Male for the same reasons above.

The ratio for me is probably 80:20. With 80 for women characters. But I always try to play man character at least once to see what is different.

Male for the first playthrough.
I mostly ran FemShep in trilogy, so it's most likely male this time around.
Although a lot can change before the game releases.

Most likely male.
It partly depends on the voice actors though.

Both, but female (biotic) first. It might depend on the VAs they choose, too.

Female.
I always play female first if I can. I'm female myself, I usually play my canon characters loosely based on my personality (not my looks though, HATE blond in CC), and straight if there are romance options.
My second playthrough is usually male.
(People need to stop with the SJW paranoia, it's becoming ridiculous.)

Depends on a number of factors, with the main one being the voice acting. If I can't stand the female/male voice then it'll affect what I'll play as first a lot. But I always play both eventually.

I'm a dude and I have no issues playing as a male or female character. Difference is with a male character I can role-play more as who I am and what I am as a person while with a female character I'm role-playing a distinctly different person(even if they are similar in some regards to myself).
For the Mass Effect trilogy I played as the very first Shepard I ever made and carried him through to the end.
This time, I may play as a female protagonist. Depends on when I actually have the game in front of me.

I always play Male because I can connect with the protagonist.
I like to play female when the game offers an established protagonist.

Both. First playthrough will be female though.

I always end up alternating between playthroughs so in the long run it really doesn't matter but first time through will probably be with a male. Male vanguard to be precise.

Same as with every RPG. First I make a male that looks like me and acts like me and then every other toon is female. I don't want to play with other dudes.

I'll try to play as a female but if the VA is as... colorless as femshep and the character customization isn't much better I'll probably be going with male again.
*colorless isn't perhaps the best word. I would like to play a character that doesn't sound perpetually pissed off.

Female. I might try a male in later playthroughs if I can make one that doesn't look too horrible.

i'll play as male, in my opinion it fits better the mass effect universe, but a female character is better for dragon age,
