Both, as usual.
Will you play as M or F?

Female, as always. It's also a tradition to name and customize my first character as myself

Both. Probably as a male first though

Although now it seems so 'alien' to me (scuse pun) I did set out to play ME as male shep but I just couldn't get into the character... but as soon as I signed up as femshep it all fell into place... so yep will play as female as I did in DA right through... and any other game that has decent female chars which for me is pretty much just the flip side of the male character with no stupid stuff tacked on...
But I will also do a male play through this time hopefully, to be honest I couldn't get on with mike meer's voice but that wasn't the main reason male shep didn't gel for me

Good post i agree, ill never understand how people can play the opposite gender and call it role-playing. Its weird an says alot of the person doing it.
No weirder than playing a battle-hardened soldier in space that blithely shoots people because they looked at you cockeyed.

If I get the game it depends how I feel in the moment. Probably Female.... the last one I made died to a antagonistic over glorified game over screen. Yes... still kind of salty about that one.

I'm female, I play as female. Always, if possible.
But my character never looks like me. ![]()

Rappeldrache, that little white gremlin creature in your avatar picture is adorable. I think I want one of those as a pet in ME:A. Just sayin'.

There was no other option than to play the character offered-period.
So I grew up gaming as a male,
Which is fine,
Since I am one.
I understand all the guys/gals playing as their gender.
I've tried multiple times to use a character of the opposite sex, but I just can't seem to "get-into" the character.
It feels like I'm watching someone else play the game.
So there's a distinct separation for me, but I keep trying, unsuccessfully thus far.

Always females here. I have tried to play a male shep a few times, but honestly the voice acting just kills it for me.

Both. I don't identify with the character like some apparently do, so doesn't bother me one bit to play the opposite gender.

Female first, because I am one. Male second, as always.
I like playing as both and I pick my personal "canon" based on what I think fits best, or a playthrough that I really enjoyed.
I don't see myself as the character, so I guess that helps with my amusement and it keeps the games fresh for me. Also, I know that I'd rather look at an attractive male PC for 60 hours than a female PC.
EDIT: I also have to think back to a time when you rarely got to play as a female PC. I like to embrace that option now that I have it. I remember playing Pokemon Red as a child and you HAD to play male. I got used to it. But now I have the option to choose my gender, so I take it, with that childhood annoyance in mind.

I grew up never having the option to play a woman in video games (except for in sims ha ha!) so given the choice, female.
My boyfriend often plays females when he has the option though, which was funny to me at first (see -> identifying with your own gender in video games), but he said "well you read tons of books with male protagonists, so why not?" and that...made a lot of sense to me :3

I'll probably play female like I do in most games I play. This seems like the sort of thread that would do well with a poll...

Then 2 females. If they have another Para/Rene alignment for this game I'll play them as one of each. I felt my ReneFemShep was amazeballs. So believable.

Male. I only did one female playtrough in ME because of how badass Jennifer Hale is as renegade sheppard.
