I've recently given the Hornet another attempt (with a recoil mod, of course), and I've quite enjoyed it. Just had a solid AA outing with it last night vs bugs.
Was planning to have a go with it on my max powers TSab, but I don't know if the SMG recoil mod is even necessary with him.
Does full 55% Turian stability get the job done by itself? I could always use one of my pile of Stab Mod armor consumables, if not.
By itself depends on how well you can compensate for recoil (a.k.a pull mouse/stick down). With a stabilizer armor mod and MM it's a laser beam. Still sucks, but at least you can hit targets with it now.

Yes. Turian should take care of that without a problem. The only reason to bring a stability mod is if you're worried about being hit by the off-host stability glitch, but even then I'd say controlling the gun's recoil manually is preferable to using a mod slot or equipment slot for stability.
I find it to do just fine with the stability damper, because it has a very fast reload animation and so doesn't get as much benefit from the usual heat sink or extended mag anyway.
Long range accuracy still isn't great without a kit that can boost it or hardcover, but it's an SMG anyway. Not really meant for that.

My AA was even aiming down the sites with that SMG recoil mod. Sure it was vs something large enough to keep me at a ~distance (scions, floating crabs). But no clouds were punctured as a result of my Hornet fire, and I didn't even feel the need to yank on the control stick (*ahem* oops...phrasing)

I was thinking of going with a heat sink only to give my spare ammo more breathing room.
I actually enjoy that gun, and on a Turian you should be able to tame it without any stab mods. It won't be recoil-less, but it will work. Just throw on stab equipment if you must, who needs cyclonics anyways? NOT TURIANS!

But they kinda need Adrenalin Mods... actually, every kit needs Adrenalin Mods.
Just played the Turian Sentinel with the Hornet. Works fine without additional gear. I´m using Mag and HVB plus some ammo to detonate.
And just hipfire, aiming will make hitting something nearly impossible - which is somewhat counterintuitive, but common to SMGs in this game.
I remember once I maxed the stability of the Hornet with Turian reach powers, and it really took some time to adjust to zero recoil on it for some reason.

Tried it last night on a Plat PUG, completed about 75% of the weapon challenge, not bad. Definitely not on par with the Hurricane or BPP, but decent.
Use vibration damper gear. Vibration Damper V is 40%

And doesn't the consumable version have more dampening then the gear version.

Sounds similar to what happened with my TSab.
Seems aiming down the sites requires a mod/consumable, regardless of character.
SMG recoil mod will be fixture moving forward...Turian or otherwise.
Sinful's Useless Knowledge; Scopes also help with recoil, even though it seems like it doesn't since the view is zoomed in. (I use scope on the Incisor for that extra help when not using it on Turians)

On PS3, it's Stability Damper
Huh. Never noticed how dirty PC was with vibration...
I use the Hornet on a few human classes (guess why) without any stability-improvement stuff. The trick is to hip fire, all the time. Never zoom, never fire from cover, just hip fire
