Quests attached to the player

Throughout my history on NwN1 servers, one problem always bugged me is that quests don't save on the character once the server resets.

 

My project consists of "too many" quests, that if *when* the server does reset for say, updating/patching, I wouldn't want the progress of players questing to have been completely gone. 

 

Exporting the character, say on SP, also doesn't save the quest journal.

Is there any alternatives/techniques to this?

I once tried adding an item to the player, such as a 4th wall note saying you've completed x quest, but then the player could easily trade this item to others, or when dying, losing it on death.

campaign database functions perhaps.

- filter ScriptAssist for "Campaign"

The db is stored in the \database folder. Supposedly it's not as good as hooking up SQLite or something external, but I suspect it's good enough to rig something up.
