I meant the Mako. I never ram anything with the Hammerhead, though it's funny to see them go flying at full speed. Too often enemies with ridiculous rapid fire tear right into it.

The Mako thing is easily the one part of MEA that I am least excited about.
I have never found driving around big open areas in a vehicle any fun. I'm always like " Can we get to the action already?!! "
I don't mind the exploring bits, but if there will be bits where I have to race time or fight loads of bad guys with it. It MIGHT get annoying and fast.
I'm not too excited about it either. I just hope the sections will be easy enough.
I truely suck at the Batmobile chase sequences and the little tricky-dick Riddle challenge rooms what you need to complete to the get the "true ending" to the game.
And I became worried, because I can do shooting and running just fine, driving however... just goes over my head. I even hated the first Mako, it was all akward and easily the worst part about the first game for me. I was ok with the Mass Effect 2's floating hovercraft! But Mako..? I can't really control it especialy in combat. It just gets really akward and annoying really fast.
Anyhows. Hoping it won't be super annoying in Mass Effect 4.

Just the opposite, here. I was fine with the mako but controlling the hovercar got me nowhere, real fast. The PC controls are awkward 'cause I could never follow that other car.

The Mako was a good combat vehicle except for its physics. It was way too bouncy and the jump jets were a joke. What we would have needed were jets at the back, to push it up mountains. Although the terrain was to blame for that, too.
Combat in the Mako was relatively easy. You set up at max range at a 90° angle to your target(s), zoom in and fire away while driving forth and back to avoid rockets and other projectiles. Or, do it like me and park the Mako behind a hill and kill everything on foot. That way you don't get an exp penalty and level up very, very quickly. I'm usually lvl50+ during the third main mission (Noveria or Feros), which allows me to buy the best Spectre gear.
Combat with the Hammerhead was even easier. It didn't require aim anymore, all you had to do was staying alive while you spammed rockets. I found it very easy to avoid getting hit by using the jump jets and drifting left/right while in the air. Basically draw a figure eight with the Hammerhead, almost all shots at you will miss and if you do get damage, just duck into cover for a few seconds while it repairs itself.
What I found exceedingly silly were the LEDs and colored lights on the Hammerhead that indicated what it was doing at the time. How exactly would that help the driver, who is inside of it? Not sure why the flying discomobile had no landing gear though, you basically crash landed it every time you stopped.

THE problem I had with MAKO was the fact that it was being too realistic and the aimin sight didn't ALWAYS reprisent the angle of your weapons. The terrain might bump up now and then, making your lined up shot to fly into the skies at the last minute. Really, they should have made the aiming reticule to move only as much as your weapon can.
I missed so many shots thanks to that. Well and also it was kind of a pain to drive around at times.

I liked the Mako. Driving it felt so unreal. Didn't like Hammerhead that much. It was like driving a regular vehicle.
As has been pointed out, the Mako we have seen so far does not have a cannon or any other apparent weapon. It is likely more like a DAI horse than the ME1 Mako so I doubt it will be too difficult.

Perhaps it has a dual purpose. Fast during exploration makes no sense. I understand your "fast response" idea but a Combat shuttle will always be faster.
I believe the promo trailer is representative of the game and the fast action scene is just that.. a promo scene designed to make you salivate and go ga-ga and "oooh I want that Mako!". I will not allow any Bio promo trailer affect me after my DAI heightened and non-delivered expectations from the game's promos.

thought I read somewhere the mako won't have guns this time noyt suer on this though. But the Mako will only be used to get from one spot to another a bit quicker.

That's the point about the Mako. Bio made the decision to use the Mako as honey bait for the player bees. Why? Because most liked the Mako.
The problem is that the game is supposedly designed for exploration. Why else have 100+ planets to explore (supposedly by Shinobi602)? But, like DAI's large areas ready made for exploration, how will Bio make it interesting and avoid grinding tasks and utter boredom? Remember what Bio said about the SP part of the game? "... it's massive.."
Even now, we talk about the Mako. So, that Bio decision, seems to bear fruit. Well, from their POV. "We have their interest", so to speak.
So, now we get dumped into a planet and start exploring. Shades of ME1, was that really interesting? And those jump jets? I'd rather dump the whole idea and just use a shuttle.... it, at least, can fly and land anywhere. In any case, why even bother? Look at that promo again, notice the rings on the different planets. They seem to indicate points of interest, scanned already from a ship? Why the Mako, then?

Landing on an uncharted world with an APC would offer the party better protection and support than use of unarmoured shuttle. All those times in ME2 and ME3 Shepard was delivered to the site of action by shuttle, party was very lucky no enemy bothered to listen for shuttle's engines and look in direction of the noise. As you can remember, that shuttle was only "invisible" to non-optical sensors.
I wanted to make a thread about Batmobile vs ME:A too, but it's not about this. I have faith Bioware won't overuse or force the Mako into everything, but what I wanted to say was this: Arkham Knight pretty much does the same thing Bioware is going to do with Mako in ME:A. It's a big bulky Buggy you drive around for quick traversal and to handle the tougher situations. In AK It feels right, not just good, but in fact REALLY, REALLY good. It has the perfect sense of weight and what I usually refer to as "oomph effect". I find that Bioware aren't exactly masters at good action mechanics but they stepped up the plate with Mass Effect 3, but Rocksteady set such a good standard with the Batmobile and ME:A needs to feel at least close to that.
I think Bioware games have a lot of clunky animations and floaty controls because they're RPG developers and not originally suited for these mechanically heavy games but at this point they're so focused on the action-part and so AAA that they need to make their mechanics tighter.
dude if the guys at bioware aren't d!cks and put mountains the size of Everest on most of the planets then I will be fine with how the mako was (if there really isn't much improvement). The thing I hated about the mako is that it reminds me of the "The little engine that could" and when we are going up a mountain...there was a voice in my head saying, "I think I can...I think I can...I think I can." Then I stall out and have to try again. It was so stupid to have a vehicle on wheels to have to overcome such craptastic terrain. But that's just my opinion.

I think we have to disagree on the subject of Batmobile. I agree on Bioware needing to get their mechanics tighter, but Batmobile didn't feel like "tight" to me in any aspect of the game.
I really dislike how the vehicle handles in Arkham Knight. Especialy when you have to do those "millimeter turns", ending up in pits. SURE I do suck at driving, but I wouldn't want that to ruin my gaming enjoyment for new Mass Effect game.
Simply put, the Batmobile isn't fun for me and it sucked the last bit of enjoyment out of the game. That's why I'm a bit worried about MAKO and made this thread. Will it be the rage inducing vehicle bit that breaks the horses back for the game? Or will it be just some exploration tool that you don't need to do some crazy stunts with?
Time will tell, but I hope they won't make it too jarring. Or atleast make a "easy mode" Mako for us who suck at it (combat can be as difficult as it gets thou).

I think whether you think a vehicle is good depends on whether you like games with vehicles. There's a part of the fanbase that's just never going to like the car.

So am I. Although I didn't mind the driving controls for the Mako. What I hated was the world, with all those stupid mountains where you'd either waste 5 minutes driving around or 10 by trying to power through it.
