So I played some Batman Arkham Knight... (about Mako)

I find the controls of the M-35 Mako more or less the same as most modern games.

For example, I can't remember much difference between the controls layout of War Thunder Ground Forces and the Mako. Other than the obvious, such as ammunition types, etc.

I'd even go as far as suggest that they handle the same, on a very basic level.

So am I. Although I didn't mind the driving controls for the Mako. What I hated was the world, with all those stupid mountains where you'd either waste 5 minutes driving around or 10 by trying to power through it.

Mountain climbing being better would be nice. :P

The controls maybe similar, but the vehicle handling (especially in SB) is completely different. Except maybe the M22.

I expect the M-40 to handle like a modern wheeled APC.

Luckily, Mako was, for the most part, optional. Almost everywhere you could drive, you could also go on foot. Except maybe hazardous environments, but IIRC there were some armour types that helped with them.

Haven't driven the Locust in... ever. I'm a proud Derpcat driver, however, and I can say that with regard to the M18 Hellcat, I don't find it too hard to compare the handling.

THIS is something I want for ME:A. It being optional. :)

I actually loved the Mako and I'm glad it's returning. The Hammerhead in ME2, though... god, I hated that thing.

I'm actually OK with Batmobile in last Batman game what annoys me a lot is that most if not all "driving" in recent games is optimised for controller, meaning using KB&M doesn't allow you to drive slow or in mid speed and it's only stop or press the button and smash your vehicle with max speed, nothing in between.

I've heard that the batmobile during the joker's challenges makes you feel stupid and like you don't know what you're doing.  Of course, it was from this video that I heard that.  I have not played the game myself.

Splinter Cell 1 fixed that problem with the mouse wheel, that would control your sneaking speed. But dunno if that would even fit here.

Even with the controller the car has very little "in between" speeds. I'm happy you like it thou, I've replayed the game a bit and got BIT better with the car. But I still rather play without it. :)

You mean Riddler challenges, right? :)

But yeah the flaws on the car really shine there.

Well, I'm OK with Batmobile (and gliding as a matter of fact) because I switch to controller to do those things when I have to. Most of the time I simply use the "Tank" mode cause it's easier to control.

I hate the controller and use it only when I have to. Unfortunately most games nowadays is developed for the consoles and controller and then ported (poorly) to PC instead of being developed for PC from the very start or at least separately at the same time.

I just hope that BW won't repeat the fail with PC controls from DA:I this time around and make new ME game playable.

Good thing is that Frostbite is a shooter engine so maybe they won't break it completely...

I think whether you think a vehicle is good depends on whether you like games with vehicles. There's a part of the fanbase that's just never going to like the car.

Not for me. I thought the ME1 Mako was terrible. Too slow, the shields took a pointlessly long time to recharge, but most importantly the level design and gameplay around it was very low quality. There was simply nothing interesting or engaging about it. The hammerhead was not much better.

Contrast it to how well designed certain parts of Half-life vehicle gameplay was. The final part of episode 2, where you defend the rocket from the two different types of tripod like enemies, was absolutely brilliant. It blended vehicle gameplay with other game mechanics perfectly.

Holy hell, I've played Mass Effect 2 about 8 times, but have never come across the hammerhead thing.... how the hell did I miss that?!?

As for the Mako, I found it incredibly frustrating to drive when I first played the game, the bit on Noveria actually made me quit playing in frustration, kept getting killed by the big Geth Juggernauts as I didn't realise you could fire rockets at them. It got much easier to drive when I played it again a few years later.

Action games tend to work with controller better. But you CAN make good keyboard and mouse controls for them. And yeah I agree that they should work for it.

It's a free DLC for the game. You can get the hammerhead missions from market place. :)

I know, the good recent example of such game is Tomb Raider. Game plays flawlessly on KB&M as well as with controller.

I've heard people who played Arkham Knight on keyboard and Mouse had a better experience with the Batmobile than those who used the controller. I guess that's the group who got lucky enough to not have problems playing on PC.

Which brings up an interesting topic. What's better for playing games? Controller or M&KB?

I expect the answer will lay in the interface and how it is developed to work with the controls. In which case, does a transition from on foot sections to vehicle sections favor the PC M&KB setup over a controller?
